None of these themes are good for selling/showcasing digital products

    1. Rita,

It all comes down to your personal preference and product that you are looking to sell. Some more genetic eCommerce themes that can be used for digital as well as tangible products can be found here. Maybe that’s what you are looking for as everyone has its own idea how everything should look and function.

Let me know if you have some specific requirements and will try to come up with some suggestions for your website.

  2. nomadetech says:

Is the Noise theme compatible with woocommerce, i need to sell digital and cd products.

      1. nomadetech says:

        Thanks a lot !
        P.

  3. thanks for share , too good themes a, i used it in my site.

    1. Thank you for your comment!

There are two things that I would like to point out:
      1. You are using RedWaves Lite WordPress theme which is completely free theme and is not listed on this theme collection or anywhere on Colorlib. I guess you have confused your theme with some other one. All above listed themes are premium themes and none of them are available for free.
      2. Your website will eventually be closed because of domain name you are using. You are confusing users with the original domain name and have the same content as original website. A single email to your domain registrar from the original domain holder is enough to close your website entirely. Make sure to take immediate action and register a new domain name or otherwise you might have a hard time. While original domain holder is from US and you are from Pakistan it won’t make any difference once complaint will be filled.

Sorry for breaking these new for you but someone had to do it.

  4. I’ve been trying to find a theme that would suit the sale of documents created by a form template. Any suggestions? I’ve spent hours upon hours searching different themes.

    1. Anthony,

Could you please explain how you are going to generate those documents form templates? If there is a tool that generates it, you can try to use something flexible such as WooCommerce to process payments and leave the rest for the tool you are using.

More information would be very helpful to understand what tools you have and how you can’t make it all work together.

  5. Mischelle says:

    Hi,

Thank you so much for this post, I am currently trying to setup a site, I set it up on Prestashop but have found the modifications very hard and the site is slow, so decided to move to WordPress. I am selling business document templates and training modules and have had a good range of sales previously on DocStoc but moving from there. I have hundred of documents from my year consulting. In advance I am not an IT person just a small business owner.

QUESTION: Yes I do actually have one, I am looking for a theme that is designed to work with EDD but looks like the “Book Store” shop layout. I had a look through the book store theme you listed but it says it’s designed for WooCommerce, I want to keep away from Woo as I only have digital products.

Once again thanks for the post, it was perfect for helping me out.

    1. Mischelle,

Unfortunately, there is a very limited selection of WordPress themes for EDD. The thing is that EDD platform is meant for developers therefore most of the sites that are using it are custom built. It is expected that this trend will change as EDD will grow in popularity but for now you either have to stick with regular themes or get download one of EDD starter themes and start building from there.

  6. Elisabeth Kolerus Vind says:

Looking for at website where it is possible to:
    – selling e-learning video packagdes (especially this is important)
    – booking courses (I teach people regarding visual branding, speaches too)

    And maybe:
    – webinar-plugin (if possible)
    – latest social media activities
    – References/testemonials

Seems theres not much focus on themes, where you can present and sell video-packages? 🙂
    Best regards, Elisabeth

    1. Elisabeth,

It depends how you want to deliver to your customers. If those are coursed that are viewed online you might want to check Learning Managmene System (LMS) or education themes instead.

For course booking you can use some plugin such as WooCommerce with its Booking addon. It would work with most WordPress themes as long as it supports WooCommerce.

      – webinar-plugin – It depends what you mean by that. If you mean something to GoToMeeting or GoToWebinar then there are no such tools for WordPress but you can always use these services and add a link from your website to these services.
      – latest social media activities – none of theme offers this kind of functionality because there are thousands of plugins for that as well as special widgets that are created by social websites that you can embed on your website. All these tools are free and easy to setup and are well documented. All these tools are compatible with any WordPress theme out there.
      – References/testimonials – most themes have this functionality as well as there are loads of awesome plugins to add testimonials. Also you can create them manually within post/page/widget. The sky’s the limit here.

  7. Dan Tanner says:

Hi, I am currently looking to buy a wordpress template that I can use to sell music, beats, samples, and loops. I would like the theme to work with desktops. laptops, tablets. and smartphones. Could you please point me in the right direction? It will be for digital downloads of the music files. I would like for the customers to hear snippets of the sounds files we will be selling.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Looking to buy a them this week.
    Thank you,
    Danny

    1. The problem is that any theme that runs “Easy Digital Downloads” (EDD), it makes it difficult to manage licensing (unless you only offer 1 type like non-exclusive) . Its also difficult to raise/lower multi-tiered prices across the board (not even if you use coupons)..

When someone leases a beat for example, upon checkout it will only allow 1 agreement checkbox and its not dynamic based on the license they chose.

Also its a nightmare to upload and maintain images, samples and final product WAV files, pricing and all that…especially when you have have a large inventory of over 100. I use EDD and doing this now here

Don’t get me wrong, EDD is a good product, it just has a long way to go before it becomes perfect. And this is not knocking down anything Aigars is saying, SquaredCode in itself looks like an awesome theme.

I would recommend whatever theme you choose, just go with like Beatstars or MyFlashStore and embed their players.

  8. Excellent List Of Themes! Very much look forward selling my own WordPress plugins.

  9. Hi

I need to sell individual downloadable images (possibly prints and merchandise too), some sets of images, and some images will be free to download.

I also need a section where other contributors can set up their stores (with limited control of adding their bio, photo, custom header). Any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Vat,

That’s exactly what these themes are for but my personal recommendation is Marketica theme with comes with support for WooCommerce Multi Vendor setup.

  10. steve cadman says:

Some great ideas here, i am about to build a stock image site so there themes are a great starting point.

  11. Hi, looks good but I would like to sell books and Videos for doctors. I would like the customers to pay for download and probably only show trailers on the site. Any chance you have a candidate for me? thx in advance

  12. Parker Williams says:

I’ve gone through your list, and some of the themes are impressive, but not what I need.

I am an author. My books show up in multiple websites. What I’m looking for is a theme where I can display my book, then list the sites where it’s available. So if my book is sold on Amazon, AllRomance, iTunes, etc, I can have links to those places, but still have reviews and things in my site. Have you ever heard of a theme like that, sir?

And thank you for taking the time to make this list.

    1. Parker,

Any WooCommerce powered theme will get the job done for you. There are some listed above and more can be found here. In your case you will need a slight tweak for your WooCommerce plugin and it is this add-on. It will allow to replace regular WooCommerce “Buy Now” or “Add To Cart” buttons with buttons that will point to Amazon or elsewhere. This add-on works with any WooCommerce powered theme.

  13. Hi Aigars,

I have a buy and sell website built on wordpress. However, I’ve got to a point now that I need to add some features to it and my developers are telling me that I need to move away from WordPress and build a website from scratch. I was wondering is there any platform for buy/sell digital goods that is not on wordpress? I’m even willing to buy a code that is developed, tested and passed security and performance tests rather than building from scratch, which is costly and I don’t know if the end product will be any good at all.
    Appreciate your advice?

  14. Sir, i have over a thousand ebook to sell, category by category which theme will you recommend for me. You can give like 3 exact themes that will do the work,
    thank you

  15. Hey Aigars,
Thanks a lot for sharing an awesome theme list. Although I have gone through your list and some of the theme are really impressive but I am confused which are the best for me? I have chosen sparkling with hesitated. However, I want to start blogging with any types of books. can you suggest any? Thanks!

    1. Whitney,

You need to be passionate and knowledgeable about the subject you want to blog about and have at least 100 hundred ideas in your mind for topic that you want to cover. Then you can start blogging and will always have a topic to write about and never run out of ideas. Making your own WordPress powered blog is very simple and we have a detailed guide with all the steps from the idea to a working blog. You can read our guide here.

  17. Jon Loveless says:

I am going to build a new WP site to sell a single software product for PC’s. What would be a good theme to do this with? Purchase options, digital delivery, demo, support? Many thanks for any recommendations.
    Jon

    1. Jon,

In that case I think that having a landing page style website would be a much better fit. Here and here are some examples you might want to consider.

  18. Warren Lynn says:

Thanks for the list. I am trying to find a WP theme that will allow people to download digital art. I want to give them access to free and paid downloads by size.

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    Warren

    1. Warren,

Unfortunately, none of themes offers this by default. The best solution here would be to choose theme with Easy Digital Downloads integration and then hire someone from Upwork to do this tweak for downloads based on size.

  19. Themes are Amazing i like them all! what i was looking for Thank You so much!

  20. Thank you for this great list of themes! I am trying to find the right theme for my site which is selling affiliate products. The site will list different products that I am selling for different affiliates. I want the items to be displayed in boxes with a brief description underneath and then a buy now button. I wasn’t sure if it was possible to have a shopping cart because if they are interested in products that were from different affiliates I am not sure how they could do just one purchase of all products or if they would just have to purchase one at a time. Do you have any advice and would adot theme be a good choice? Thank you so much!

    1. Stacie,

Shopping cart is of the question in your case. However, you can use any WooCommerce theme to sell affiliate products Of course, your visitors will be directed away from your website in case they want to purchase something. There is an option available in WooCommerce called External/Affiliate that you can find under Product Data dropdown menu. Knowing that you can choose any of these themes and make it look like an ecommerce website but in reality you will be just an affiliate.

  21. HI i would like to sell mp3s and also would like to offer a free stream mp3 a week, but want users to give email before streaming. I’m leaving squarespace because there isnt that option. Do you have rec a theme that does? Thanks,

    1. You should look for a plugin or services that provides this kind of functionality. Themes are all about design and functionality comes from plugins.

  22. Tim Haugen says:

Hi! I am establishing a website where I will sell sets of my photos. Each set will have the same number of photos, and sets will all cost the same. so that should simplify matters. Do any of these themes stand out to you for a site such as mine?

    1. Tim,

Any of above listed themes will work perfectly fine. And also any WooCommerce powered theme as well since it allows to sell physical and digital goods. Just choose the one that you like from a design perspective.

  23. Hi Aigars

I want to build a website like DigiSeller theme. But instead of physical delivery or digital download of the books, i want to give access to user to read all the available books online only after paying a time bound subscription fee . It should not be downloadable or printable. Is there any theme like that or any solution in same theme.

    Thanks

    1. James,

Themes are not for that because themes are all about design and not extended functionality. For this purpose I would suggest using Restrict Content Pro or similar plugin which works with any theme listed above.

  24. I came here to find a free theme but all themes listed here are paid…

    1. We haven’t mentioned anywhere that any of these are free.
Since you are looking for themes to sell products there is no way to find a free one. You are looking to make money but why would developers need to spend their time and resources to build themes and give away for free to someone that will be using their products for commercial use?
