X – The New #1 Theme on ThemeForest – April, 2015

When we hear the word WordPress we are not thinking about a small blog or a private site which showcases some personal information, we think about a content management system and unlimited options. WordPress grew from a little idea to a software that is now powering nearly 25% of the whole internet and although there is a never ending amount of free themes out there for this popular tool there is a huge market for so called premium WordPress themes.

When you start your journey and do research about premium templates you’ll end up on a site called ThemeForest which is the biggest and leading theme and especially WordPress theme marketplace. If you’ve made it on the top selling list on that site you’re one of the big players and few themes have been able to make it to this top spot.

But last week things shifted and X became the new weekly top seller (and broke the record on weekly sales in the process).

When you look at the themes name, a single letter followed by the bold yet simple statement “The Theme” you might get the impression that there is more than meets the eye, and in case of X from Themeco that statement is not exaggerated. Coming with 4 individual Stacks that bring an unique feeling and set of features with it and the possibility of endless customization make X a winning combination, which the customers just confirmed by buying over 2000 copies in a single week. One reason for their success is for sure their outstanding customer support which is helping each and every customer with any X related problems, having a strong connection and providing assistance even after the initial buying phase is key and an important value for Themeco. Giving their customers endless options and optional features called “extensions” which can be turned on if needed but also left unactivated to keep the theme slim and fast shows that even multi purpose themes like X can be very performance driven with the right engineering and only loading files that are actually used.

Calling X an overnight success would be a brave statement but as for all successful businesses it takes more than that to hit it big. Being a best selling theme on Themeforest is an achievement not a lot of companies can call their own so who are the guys behind Themeco and how did they get where they are now? The idea of the theme started in late 2012 and back then it was obvious to everyone on the team that if they want to go into that market they would have to provide a theme that sticks out and brings something new to the table. This was the moment where the idea about “Stacks” which are unique designs that can be activated with a click was born. The days of switching theme to have a new styling or a new set of features should be over and having one theme which provides everything a customer needs was the goal.

X The Theme - Multipurpose WordPress theme

The development of X took over 15 months and after some setbacks the theme got approved on Themeforest and thats when the real work just began. Standing out with an unique set of features, frequent updates and marketing which involved a lot of work ensured X to slowly climb every week in the popular theme list. Over time X proved that they are playing in the ivy league of themes and thanks to happy customers and growing sales they arrived at the top of the league and being the most popular WordPress theme on Themeforest in April, 2015. Envato, ThemeForest’s parent company, even confirmed this record-breaking accomplishment on Twitter:

So a big congratulations to Themeco for making such an incredibly versatile and popular WordPress theme in X. Their 4.0 version is set to release in just a few weeks and is sure to again level the playing field in WordPress themes and help them attract even more customers!
