8 Best Free Wedding WordPress Themes for Couples & Planners 2026

The best free wedding WordPress themes are Astra’s Wedding Invitation starter for a couple’s site, Zakra’s Wedding template if you would rather build with blocks, and Kadence’s Ever After Events if you plan weddings for a living. There are 8 free themes here and 5 paid ones, and every one is shown running a real wedding demo rather than a generic homepage.

Worth knowing before you start: not one dedicated wedding theme on WordPress.org has passed a thousand installs. The good free wedding sites are all starter templates on big general-purpose themes, which is better news than it sounds — those themes are faster, actively maintained, and still useful after the wedding. There are really two jobs here, too, and they need different things. A couple needs an invitation page, a story, a gallery and an RSVP. A planner or venue needs services, portfolio and enquiry forms. The list below is split accordingly.

Related roundups: photography themes if you shoot weddings for a living, and event themes for the schedule and ticketing side.

We tested it: free wedding theme speed

How we tested: we installed each free theme on the same clean WordPress site with identical content and no extra plugins, then measured the homepage with Google Lighthouse on mobile. Wedding sites are photograph-heavy by definition, and most guests will open yours on a phone, quite possibly on hotel wifi the morning of the ceremony. The lighter the theme, the more room your photographs get.

Free themes for a couple’s wedding site

What a couple actually needs: the names and the date up front, a story, a gallery, travel and accommodation details, and an RSVP. These starters give you most of that arranged already.

1. Astra

Astra Wedding Invitation free starter site
Free · Pro available 1M+ active installs · 4.9★ (6.5K) Updated Sep 2026 · Two free wedding starters Best for: A couple’s invitation site

Why we like it: Two free wedding starters — a classic Wedding Invitation and a block-editor version of it.

Astra’s Wedding Invitation template is a finished couple’s site: names and date in the hero, a story section, a gallery and a contact path for RSVPs. Because it sits on the most installed theme on WordPress, you are not depending on a one-person project to still exist next spring.

Pros: two free wedding starters, by far the largest community, light   ⚠️ Cons: the RSVP form comes from a plugin, and the deeper design controls are in Astra Pro

2. Zakra

Zakra Wedding free template site
Free · Pro available 30K+ active installs · 4.9★ (599) Updated Aug 2026 · Two wedding templates Best for: Building a wedding site with blocks

Why we like it: A classic wedding template and a Gutenberg one, so you can build the whole thing without a page builder.

Zakra maintains two separate wedding demos, one conventional and one built entirely from blocks. The block version matters if you would rather not install Elementor for a site that exists for six months, and Zakra’s free header and footer builders let you put the names and date wherever you want them.

Pros: a block-editor wedding template, free header and footer builders, very well rated   ⚠️ Cons: the wider starter library sits behind Zakra Pro

3. Blocksy

Blocksy Wedding free starter site
Free · Pro from $69/yr 300K+ active installs · 5.0★ (872) Updated Sep 2026 · Free wedding starter Best for: A wedding site led by photographs

Why we like it: A free wedding starter on the best-rated framework here, and one of the lightest themes we measured.

Blocksy’s wedding starter leans on imagery, which is the right instinct: the photographs are what guests come back for. It holds a perfect rating across several hundred reviews and stays out of the way of large images better than most.

Pros: free wedding starter, among the fastest measured, the best rated framework   ⚠️ Cons: the starter ships with placeholder copy and stock photographs to replace

4. Neve

Neve Wedding free template site
Free · Pro available 200K+ active installs · 4.7★ (1.2K) Updated Aug 2026 · Free wedding template Best for: A simple site that loads fast on a phone

Why we like it: The lightest theme in our test, with a free wedding template on top — which is what your guests’ phones will thank you for.

Neve’s wedding template covers the essentials without ceremony: the date, the story, the details. Most guests will open your site once, on a phone, looking for a time or an address — and Neve is built to give them that quickly.

Pros: a free wedding template, the lightest theme we measured, works with any builder   ⚠️ Cons: much of the wider template library is Pro, and the design is restrained to the point of plain

5. Catch Wedding

Catch Wedding free wedding WordPress theme demo
Free on WordPress.org 300+ active installs · 5.0★ (3) Updated May 2026 · Small theme · Dedicated wedding Best for: A couple who wants nothing to configure

Why we like it: The one dedicated free wedding theme with a demo that is an actual couple’s site — names, date and all.

Catch Wedding’s demo introduces Diane and William, which sounds trivial and is not: nearly every other dedicated wedding theme demos as a generic blog. It is genuinely small, a few hundred sites, so treat it as a quick way to a finished site rather than a long-term base.

Pros: an actual wedding site out of the box, perfect rating so far, nothing to configure   ⚠️ Cons: a very small user base, only three reviews, and little use after the wedding

6. Shapely

Shapely free one-page WordPress theme demo
Colorlib theme · maintained by us Free on WordPress.org 10K+ active installs · 4.6★ (67) Updated Sep 2026 · Full-width parallax sections Best for: A one-page invitation site

Why we like it: Full-width parallax bands with a call to action in each, which is exactly how an invitation page is shaped.

A photograph that fills the screen, the names and the date, then bands for the story, the venue, the schedule and the RSVP. Shapely is built from precisely those sections. Its demo is a general one-page layout rather than a wedding, so look at the structure here, not the sample copy.

Pros: the right shape for an invitation page, prominent calls to action, maintained by us   ⚠️ Cons: no wedding demo of its own, no RSVP or gallery templates, and heavier than the modern frameworks

Shooting weddings rather than having one? Our photography theme roundup covers galleries and client proofing properly, and the full free collection covers everything else.

Free themes for planners, venues and photographers

A wedding business has the opposite problem: the site has to sell services and show past work rather than describe one day. Both of these demo that shape properly.

7. Kadence

Kadence Ever After Events wedding planner starter
Free · Pro available 500K+ active installs · 4.9★ (453) Updated Jul 2026 · Ever After Events starter Best for: A wedding planning business

Why we like it: Ever After Events is a wedding planner’s site, not a couple’s — services, portfolio and enquiries.

This is the starter to take if weddings are your job. It is structured around selling planning services and showing past celebrations, with the enquiry path that turns a browsing couple into a booked consultation. Kadence is also one of the two lightest themes in our test.

Pros: a genuine planner’s starter, among the lightest in our test, free header and footer builders   ⚠️ Cons: wrong shape for a couple’s own site, and its block library is another system to learn

8. OceanWP

OceanWP Wedding Organizer free demo
Free · Pro available 500K+ active installs · 4.9★ (5.7K) Updated Sep 2026 · Wedding Organizer demo Best for: A wedding organiser or venue

Why we like it: A free Wedding Organizer demo on a theme with nearly six thousand reviews behind it.

OceanWP’s wedding demo is built for the business side — the organiser’s portfolio, the services, the gallery of past weddings that does the selling. With half a million installs it is the safest long-term base of the vendor-facing options here.

Pros: a free wedding-organiser demo, enormous user base, extends easily   ⚠️ Cons: the useful extras sit in paid extensions, and it runs heavier than the leanest frameworks

Paid wedding WordPress themes

A wedding site is used hard for a few months and then becomes a keepsake, so paying is a smaller decision here than in most categories — but the paid themes do things the free starters do not: RSVP handling, gift registries, seating and guest management, and designs that look like a wedding rather than a business site with softer colours. Every theme below has a working vendor demo we opened. Sales figures come from our marketplace research; ThemeForest now blocks automated checks, so we have not re-verified them today.

9. OneLove

OneLove wedding WordPress theme demo
Paid, $49 · ThemeForest 1,800+ sales · 4.8★ (research figure) Wedding multipurpose · RSVP & story pages Best for: A couple who wants it to look designed

Why we like it: The highest-rated wedding theme we found, and the cheapest of the paid options here.

OneLove covers the couple’s site properly: RSVP handling, a story timeline, a gallery, gift registry links and the countdown, all built in rather than assembled from plugins. At forty-nine dollars for something used hard for six months, it is an easy decision if the free starters feel too plain.

Pros: the best rating of the paid themes here, cheapest option, RSVP and registry built in   ⚠️ Cons: fewer sales than the category leaders, and it is wedding-only

10. The Aisle

The Aisle elegant wedding WordPress theme demo
Paid, $69 · ThemeForest 2,800+ sales · Qode Interactive Elegant wedding · Couple and vendor demos Best for: A restrained, typographic wedding site

Why we like it: The most restrained design here, which is what most couples actually want and rarely find.

Wedding themes tend towards script fonts and flourishes. The Aisle is the opposite: careful typography, generous white space and photographs given room. Qode Interactive maintain it well, and it works for both a couple’s site and a wedding business.

Pros: genuinely elegant rather than ornate, strong sales record, well-supported vendor   ⚠️ Cons: the restraint means less built-in wedding machinery than OneLove

11. Moments

Moments wedding and celebration WordPress theme demo
Paid, $79 · ThemeForest 2,600+ sales · Qode Interactive Wedding, celebration & event · Multipurpose Best for: Weddings plus other celebrations

Why we like it: Covers weddings, anniversaries and celebrations, so a vendor does not need a theme per occasion.

Moments is the multipurpose option: the same theme handles a wedding, a christening and an anniversary party, with layouts for each. For an events business that does more than weddings, that breadth is the whole argument.

Pros: covers several celebration types, strong sales, consistent vendor support   ⚠️ Cons: the breadth costs focus, and it is the more expensive of the two Qode themes here

12. Fleur

Fleur wedding florist WordPress theme demo
Paid, $79 · ThemeForest 1,800+ sales · Qode Interactive Weddings & wedding business · Floral Best for: Florists and wedding suppliers

Why we like it: Aimed at the suppliers around a wedding — florists, stylists, stationers — rather than the couple.

Fleur is the vendor-side theme of this group: portfolio layouts for past work, service pages and enquiry paths, with a floral design language that suits the trade. If you sell into weddings rather than having one, it fits better than a couple’s theme dressed down.

Pros: built for wedding suppliers, portfolio and enquiry structures, distinctive design   ⚠️ Cons: narrow, and the floral styling is hard to take somewhere else

13. Divi + Wedding Engagement layout pack

Divi Wedding Engagement layout pack live demo
$89/yr or $249 lifetime · Elegant Themes Unlimited sites on one licence Free wedding layout packs · Visual builder Best for: Designing the invitation yourself

Why we like it: Free Wedding Engagement, Wedding Planner and Wedding Photographer packs, on a licence covering every site you build.

Divi’s case here is that a wedding site is personal and you will want it exactly so. The engagement pack gives you an RSVP, story and gallery structure to start from, and you move everything visually. For a planner running client sites, the unlimited licence settles it.

Pros: three free wedding layout packs, full design control, unlimited sites   ⚠️ Cons: adds page weight, and leaving Divi means rebuilding your layouts

What to look for in a wedding WordPress theme

  • The RSVP is a plugin, not a theme feature. WPForms, Gravity Forms or Fluent Forms will collect names, meal choices and plus-ones, and email you each reply. No theme on this page does it alone, so do not choose one because it says RSVP.
  • Most guests will open your site once, on a phone. They are looking for a time, an address or a dress code. Whatever else you build, make those three things findable without scrolling past your engagement photographs.
  • Password-protect the details. Addresses, gift registries and timings do not need to be public. WordPress can password-protect individual pages with no plugin at all, which is the simplest way to keep the practical pages between you and your guests.
  • Check the gallery on a slow connection. Wedding sites are photograph-heavy and often opened on hotel wifi. Export at sensible sizes, let WordPress serve responsive images, and start from a light theme — our table below shows which those are.
  • Couples and vendors need opposite things. A couple’s site is one event told well. A planner’s site sells a service and proves it with past work. Using a couple’s theme for a business, or the reverse, is the most common mistake in this category.
  • Nothing dedicated on WordPress.org has real scale. Not one wedding-specific free theme has passed a thousand installs, and several have gone quiet. That is why this list leans on starter templates from big frameworks — they will still be maintained when you need to change the venue three weeks out.
  • Decide what happens to the site afterwards. Some couples keep theirs as an album, others take it down. If you want to keep it, choose a framework you could turn into something else later rather than a wedding-only theme.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best free wedding WordPress theme?

Astra with its Wedding Invitation starter, for most couples: it imports a finished site and sits on the most maintained theme on WordPress. Zakra’s wedding templates are the better pick if you want to build with blocks and no page builder, and Catch Wedding is the fastest route to something finished if you want nothing to configure.

How do I add an RSVP form?

With a form plugin — WPForms, Fluent Forms or Gravity Forms. Create fields for name, number of guests, meal choice and any dietary needs, and have replies emailed to you and stored in the database. It takes about twenty minutes and works with every theme here.

Do I need to pay for a wedding theme?

No. The free starters cover the invitation, story, gallery and details perfectly well. Paying gets you design polish and built-in machinery like registries and guest management — OneLove at forty-nine dollars is the easiest of those to justify for a site you will use hard for six months.

Can I add a countdown to the wedding day?

Yes, through a countdown block or plugin rather than the theme. Several of the block-based starters here include a countdown pattern already; if yours does not, a small plugin adds one anywhere on the page.

Why are there so few dedicated free wedding themes?

Because a wedding site lives for a few months and then stops being updated, so there is little incentive to maintain a theme for it. Not one wedding-specific free theme on WordPress.org has passed a thousand installs. The starter templates on big frameworks are better maintained and just as good-looking.

I plan weddings for other people — is this the right list?

Partly. Look at Kadence’s Ever After Events starter and OceanWP’s Wedding Organizer demo, both of which are built to sell a service and show past work rather than describe one day. On the paid side, Fleur is aimed squarely at wedding suppliers such as florists and stylists.

Should I keep the site after the wedding?

Many couples do, as a private album of photographs and messages. If that appeals, pick a framework like Astra, Blocksy or Neve that you could repurpose later, rather than a wedding-only theme you would have to replace.

Can guests see the gift registry without it being public?

Yes. Put the registry links on a password-protected page and share the password with your invitation. WordPress does this natively, so it costs nothing and keeps the details away from search engines.

Which one should you use?

If you are getting married, install Astra and import the Wedding Invitation starter — it is the shortest route to a site that looks intentional, on a theme that will still be maintained next year. Choose Zakra if you would rather build with blocks, Blocksy if the photographs are the point, or Catch Wedding if you want something finished with nothing to configure. If you plan weddings for a living, Kadence’s Ever After Events starter is the right shape and among the lightest we measured. And whatever you pick, add a form plugin for the RSVP and password-protect the page with the addresses on it.

This is the best list of free WordPress themes I have found so far. Other collections that I checked looked completely outdated and I even considered to save money to pay for a premium theme. Luckily I found Unite theme and I will be using on all my websites. Thank you!

    1. Nick,

Thank you for your feedback! Unite is right now them best free WordPress wedding theme out there and we highly recommend it. Probably it’s not as good as some premium themes but it does get a job done and is WooCommerce ready and mobile friendly. That’s something that not many themes can offer and especially free themes.

  7. megan says:

wonderful!! Thank you!! I am trying to create a place on my wordpress website where guests will be able to select one of these templates and design their own wedding website. Is there a plugin I can use to set this up? I also need to add forms to the templates, will this be possible? TIA!

    1. Megan,

The best way to proceed with this is my using WordPress Multisite like described on official WordPress documentation. It will have a similar setup to one you can see on WordPress.com where users can get their blog awesome-blog-name.wordpress.com or other.
This is only the basic idea and it will require some job done from your part as well as there is no easy way to create exact WordPress.com close by jut enabling mutlisite. It is going to look and work similarly but will not look as professional.
