Sona is a modern hotel booking website template. It suits all accommodation businesses, with an adaptable and versatile design. Sona works out of the box, and you can brand it and customize it easily.
With its flexible layout, Sona runs smoothly on all devices and modern web browsers. It has seven pages: home, rooms, room details, about, blog, blog post and contact. Other specialties include a hero slider, an availability search with date fields, a drop-down menu, social media icons, a video tour, testimonials and a full blog section. You can use the latter to announce exclusive deals, share “what to do” and other content marketing. Last but not least, Sona comes with working contact, review, comment and newsletter forms and a click-to-load map.
What’s new in 3.0
Bootstrap 5.3.8 (1.0 used 4.4.1), compiled from Sass with only the parts the pages use, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the hero and testimonial sliders, a built-in video dialog replaces Magnific Popup, and the browser’s own date fields and selects replace the jQuery UI datepicker and Nice Select. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
Lighter pages: the home page went from 2.1 MB and 44 requests to 919 KB and 29 requests, and the contact page from 1.7 MB and 77 requests to 284 KB and 11 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPG as the fallback, the full-screen preloader is gone, and the download went from 7.5 MB to 3.9 MB.
No third-party requests at load: Lora and Cabin are self-hosted, Font Awesome 4.7, ElegantIcons and Flaticon are replaced by Lucide SVG icons and a 1.2 KB social-logo subset, and the video loads only after a click. The Google Maps embed, which loaded with the contact page, is replaced by a map (OpenStreetMap, no API key) that loads only when the visitor clicks Show map.
Working forms: the contact, room review and blog comment forms send through php/send-email.php and the newsletter through php/subscribe.php, with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message. Before, the forms had no handler. The booking dates allow no check-in in the past and at least one night’s stay.
Accessibility: a skip link, one h1 per page, real buttons for the menu, search and language toggles, keyboard access to the menus and dialogs, labelled links and form fields, a visible focus ring and WCAG AA text contrast, with dark text on the gold buttons.
Fixed: the slide-in menu marked Home as the current page on every page, the Pages menu and the breadcrumb Home links pointed to files that do not exist, the desktop Pages dropdown opened only on hover, and typos such as “Pernight” and “Max persion” are corrected.
Four photos that showed a restaurant sign, branded table cards and an airline livery, and a review-site logo under the testimonials, are replaced, the demo video (a commercial music video) is now stock hotel footage, and copy borrowed from a real hotel and a booking site is rewritten.
