Description

Kindergarten is a website template for kindergartens, preschools and nurseries, built on Bootstrap 5. It has a bright pink, cyan and yellow design with rounded Fredoka One headings, a top bar with the address, phone number and social icons, and a sticky menu. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready. There are 9 pages: home, about, classes, blog, blog post (one page for each of the five posts), contact, elements, log in and register.

The home page has a hero, a welcome section with three features, a classes slider, an event with a countdown timer, a teachers slider, parent testimonials and an Instagram strip. The classes page lists six classes with their age group, number of sessions and price. The blog has five posts and a sidebar with search, categories, recent posts, tags, an Instagram gallery and a newsletter form, and each post page adds the author, previous and next post links, comments and a comment form. The contact page has a map, a contact form and the contact details, and the elements page shows typography, buttons, lists, tables, progress bars, form fields and an image gallery with a lightbox. Log in and Register are sample forms for a parents’ area. Use Kindergarten for a kindergarten, a preschool, a nursery or a daycare centre.

What’s new in 3.0

  • Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.1.3), compiled from Sass with only the parts the pages use, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Slick and Owl Carousel on the classes, teachers, testimonials and Instagram sliders, PhotoSwipe 5 replaces Magnific Popup for the gallery lightbox, an accessible menu panel replaces SlickNav, and native selects replace Nice Select; the countdown plugin, WOW and the other jQuery plugins are removed. Lucide SVG icons replace Themify, Linearicons and Font Awesome 5, with a small Font Awesome 7 Brands subset for the social logos. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script bundle.
  • Lighter pages: the home page went from 9.95 MB and 67 requests to 1.05 MB and 34 requests. The log-in and register pages streamed a 50.8 MB background video; it is now a still photo, and the log-in page loads 0.58 MB in 7 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with a JPEG or PNG fallback and loads at its real size, unused images are removed, and the full-screen preloader is gone. The download is 4.71 MB (it was 79.83 MB) and includes the Sass sources and the build scripts.
  • No third-party requests: Fredoka One, DM Sans and Concert One are self-hosted, the icons are inline SVG, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. The contact page’s map loads OpenStreetMap only after a visitor clicks “Show map”. Before, every page loaded Google Fonts and the contact page loaded Google Maps.
  • Distinct content: six classes with their own names, photos, age groups and prices, five teachers, two parent testimonials shown with initials, and five blog posts, each on its own page, with kindergarten copy and fictional contact details throughout. Before, the classes repeated one title, the teachers repeated three people, and the testimonials and much of the text were placeholder copy.
  • Working forms: the contact form sends through php/send-email.php, the newsletter forms through php/subscribe.php and the comment forms through php/comment.php, safe mailers with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message. Log in and Register are clearly marked demos: they check the fields, send nothing and say so, ready to connect to your own parents’ portal. Before, the newsletter and comment forms posted nowhere and the contact form used an unsafe mailer.
  • Accessibility: a skip link and a main landmark, one h1 per page, labelled form fields, names on icon-only links, keyboard and touch access to the Blog submenu, 44 px slider arrows, visible keyboard focus, reduced-motion support and WCAG AA text contrast: black text on the pink top bar, white labels on a deeper pink for buttons and badges, a navy label on the cyan Enroll Now button, darker greys and a soft scrim behind the page banner titles.
  • Fixed: the mobile menu button had lost its styles in the earlier build and is back as the theme’s own MENU button; the elements page no longer scrolls sideways on tablets, nor a blog post on small phones; the one-slide hero carousels are now static heroes; and menu, footer, card and button links that went nowhere now open real pages (the social icons are placeholders for your own profiles).
