Cake is a bakery and cake shop website template built on Bootstrap 5. It has eleven pages: home, about, shop, product details, shopping cart, checkout, wishlist, classes, blog, blog post and contact. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready.
The home page has a hero slider, an about section with skill bars, a category slider, product cards, a baking class booking form with a video, the team, testimonials, an Instagram strip and a map. The shop works in the browser: products can be added to the cart and wishlist, filtered by category, searched, sorted and paged, and the cart and checkout show live totals and coupon codes. You will also find a classes page with a booking form, a blog with a recipe post and comments, and a contact page with three bakery addresses, a working contact form and a map that loads on click.
What’s new in 3.0
Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.4.1 and jQuery), compiled from Sass together with the theme, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel, a video dialog replaces Magnific Popup, and the select, mobile menu, skill bar and scroll plugins are replaced by native controls and a few lines of code. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
Lighter pages: the home page went from 2.8 MB and 91 requests to 1.0 MB and 40 requests, and all twelve pages together from 14.6 MB and 505 requests to 6.5 MB and 232 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading, and the full-page preloader is gone.
No third-party requests: Montserrat and Playfair Display are self-hosted, the icon fonts are replaced by Lucide SVG icons and a 1 KB social-logo subset, and the maps load only when a visitor asks.
A working demo shop: cart and wishlist that remember their items, a product page for every product, quantities, coupon codes and totals, and a validated checkout clearly labelled as a demonstration.
Working contact, class booking, comment and newsletter forms with a PHP mail handler, labelled fields and a spam trap.
Accessibility: skip link, one main heading per page, labelled controls, keyboard access to menus and product actions, visible focus, and text and buttons that meet WCAG AA contrast.
New demo content: bakery copy, products, classes, recipes and fictional addresses replace the placeholder text, with new photos where the old ones were low resolution.
