11 Best Job Board WordPress Themes & Plugins 2024

Today, we would like to present a list of the best job board WordPress themes.

These themes can be used for general job listing websites, niche sites like freelancer job listings, and even job boards for babysitters. They feature front-end submission, location-aware search, resume creators, visual builders, etc.

I have been involved in the recruitment business for 15 years, working for several international recruitment companies.

Yup, I know the ins and outs of the industry.

Large websites like Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn, and Google Jobs take job portal business.

However, there are many niches where relatively small websites perform well.

The main problem with small players is keeping the website up to date and error-free and constantly adding new functionality requested by users.

This is where WordPress comes into the game. You can easily set up your job listing page and keep it fresh forever.

Below you can find the best job board WordPress themes that are powerful and 100% customizable.

Thanks for the post Aigar – some good choices. I was not even aware wordpress had employment agency themes and I use wordpress almost exclusively. I am doing a project for a staffing agency and they get job searches filtered to their local office from their home website and they want to have their own website for local searches. I like jobify from what I have seen, but I am not sure they would need functionality to add jobs from their website, but from the back end. Do you know if jobs can be posted through the dashboard and is the “Add Job” function something that can be hidden from the front page?

    1. That’s a very tricky question. As WordPress is an open source software. Most likely you will be able to hide “Add Job” from the front end.

I love WordPress and have several sites running on it. But, I am very skeptical about WordPress supporting a job portal. It just doesn’t have enough features. To my opinion, for a job board to stand out and make some profit there is a need to offer unique features to both employers and job seekers, like iOS and Android apps, Indeed, Simply Hired, Beyond plugins (to back fill job board), flexible subscription plans, screening questionnaires, job wrapping (it’s when you can import jobs from almost any existed job site) and much more. Job board is a serious business that requires a serious platform. WordPress themes for employment is just for kids to play around. But, that’s of course my humble opinion.

    2. Robert Kruse says:

I was also unaware that WordPress has employment agency themes. This is a very helpful and concise list.

  2. Gary,

Yes, you can use jobify theme only with backend submission. Just don’t create submission form for users because it is entirely optional to have it and you can live without it. You can always decide to open front end submission if/when your client decided to do so.

Jobify is a great theme and your client will definitely love it!

  3. Francesco says:

    Thanks Aigars very well done.
Please do you know if with any of these themes it is possible to limit the access to the CVs?
I’m quite sure that in Europe you cannot show a CV on a public portal even with the authorisation; so I’m looking for a theme that permits to have a controlled access to the CVs (user/pswd)
    Thanks, Francesco

    1. Francesco,

Yes, it is possible to create CV database and limit access for public and create different permission levels for different users. In this collection there are two themes that does support this kind of functionality is Jobify

Unfortunately, this functionality is not there by default (themes are optmized to work without custom implementations once plugins is activated) and you will need to purchase additional add-on called Resume Manager. Which is add-on for WP Job Manager which is a free plugin and powers most of these themes. It is an amazing plugin and I highly recommend it.

Let me know if you have any other questions related to WP Job Manager or Job board themes in general.

      1. Francesco says:

        Many thanks again Aigars

I hope to have further questions, meaning the project is moving in the right direction 🙂

      2. Marie Carroll says:

Thanks for your really helpful blog.

I’m considering Jobify to set up a Jobs Board but do not want to allow jobseekers to upload their cv. Can the cv upload functionality be deactivated or what is your advice?

Perhaps one of the other themes would be more appropriate for a ‘jobs only’ jobs board?

I’m not technical but will go as far as I can then get help.

        Thanks Marie

        1. Marie,

CV upload functionality is optional and you can choose not to use it.

    2. Hi Francesco

I came across your comment regarding restricted access to CV database in Europe. Can you please direct me to the source regarding this rule? I am looking into building a job portal in Europe. Any help would be much appreciated!

      Best,
      Anna

      1. Anna,

Each country has its own regulations and right now there are no general rules that applies for all European countries.

  4. Dan Walter says:

Nice work Aigars. Much appreciated. Do any of these sites have the capability for anonymous reviews such as used on Glassdoor? Company reviews is what I’m most interested in… glassdoor.com

    1. Unfortunately, none of these themes has this functionality by default. The closest one is Jobera which is more like Fiverr clone than a real job board.

Personally, I would go with Jobify and would hire some freelancer to integrate some review system which would be Schema compatible. Schema means that would see those star rating directly in Google search result pages.

      1. I am sorry to say the Jobify theme does not work well, infact this theme along with wpjob manager plugins are completely outdated and result in fatal errors

        1. Sripani,

You are using outdated theme version, outdated WP Job Manager plugin and even outdated WordPress core and you are now complaining that everything is outdated?

WordPress and WP Job Manager can be updated with one click via your dashboard. Jobify theme is slightly more difficult to update but still it doesn’t give you any reason to complain because there are several updated available for your theme since you installed it.

Before you blame others, please make sure that you have done everything from your side.

If updates doesn’t help, please let us know more information and I will try to help you from there.

    2. Hi Dan,

Granted this is three years later, but did you ever find someone to do the rating system like glassdoor? I am looking to try and do the same thing. Thanks

  5. Hi!
I have an existing site and want to start a job board..cant decide between
Jobera or jobify…but would rather integrate wpjobboard if its better…what is the most customizable choice. Jobify is fine but why does it work without the resume plugins?
Is wpjobboard totally customizable for resume part and job posting part?
Sorry i just want to pick most flexible and scalable one..pay for it..and get started.

    1. Mark

Both, Jobera or Jobify, are almost the same functionality-wise and both depends on WP Job Manager which means that all the functionality around resumes are job listings are there. WP Job Manager is currently the best WordPress based solution for job listings, resumes and everything around them.

Both themes will get the same job done and it depends which theme design you prefer.

      1. Thanks Aigars!! I’ve read a lot about Jobroller and am starting to find it appealing, but it seems that WP Job Manager is beginning to be the go to plugin with it’s paid add ons. Plus I’ve been chatting with Mike Jolley, and he’s very responsive, so I”m on the fence as to JOBIFY or JOBROLLER. I’m leaning towards jobify because Mike seems very very supportive.

  6. Are there any themes out there that offer a Workroom. I am interested in creating a site that allows users to use the site as a portal where they can exchange emails, files, etc and then get paid for jobs through it. Think Elance. Any WP Elance themes out there?

    1. Abby,

In this case WordPress theme is not going to be enough and you should look at some “clone” style scripts like this one.
Otherwise, building that complicated web app based on WordPress alone would be difficult.

  7. Hope Bertram says:

hi, can you recommend any good job board plugins? I have an existing website and would like to let people post jobs so that our members can see them. Thanks

    1. WP Job Manager plugin is integrated in several of themes listed above and I highly recommend it. It is a free job board plugin that you can further expand with paid add-ons but for a simple job board inside website it will be more than enough with free version.

Read more about it and download it from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-job-manager/

  8. Hi Aigars,

    Thank for the article.
I’m WordPress developer, Jobengine is my choice for my client. The design is simple, and support are awesome.
I have not yet use Jobify so don’t have comment about it but I am impressed with its design.
    Thank again.

  9. Danhoat,

JobEngine has this timeless design which never gets old and this is very important when building websites to last. Jobify, on the other hand, has modern flat design with large and clean graphics. This design trend might be here to stay but we can’t be sure about that. Also EngineThemes is specialized in creating directory style WordPress themes and I would trust them more when it comes to well written code. I am not saying that Astoundify is writing a bad code but EngineThemes have proven track records in this field and I would trust them more.

I can recommend both of these themes to anyone looking to build job board, website for recruitment agency or both.

  10. Hi Sterling,
Please let me know if you need any help about Jobengine.

  11. Can you address the issue of populating the board from indeed, monster, careerbuilder, etc? I produce niche directories and would like to populate the job boards with specific jobs and allow job listing submissions in the niche site.

    1. Steve,

Job board themes are not meant to do this automatically. But there are several awesome plugins that could help you with this. My favorite is WP Robot which was originally built to create spammy autoblogs and that’s how most people actually use it. However, it has option to republish content from other websites by taking their RSS feed. Monster, Indeed and Careerbuilder does provide RSS feeds that are well categorized, so you can use them to republish them on your website. Make sure that it is not against their TOS as you are actually stealing their content are redistributing and most website owners are not going to be OK with that.

      1. Thanks Aigars (and Steve); this is the next question I was about to pose. Steve, have you tried this already? Definitely going to do more research on this.

  12. which is the best theme to buy for academic website, such that customers can post while writers can bid on the said jobs.

  13. Phill,

Unfortunately, there is no such theme that I am aware of and I have seen almost all available themes. However, this could be done by combining several plugin functionality. Some plugin such as “Ultimate WordPress Auction Plugin” could take care of bidding while s2member could take care of user management. This is just an idea and maybe you can come up with something else. It really depends how you want everything to function together.

  14. Aigar,

I’m looking to create a non-profit college career site that has the following functionality
    – Students create a private profile providing their backgrounds (school, grades, etc) and resume
    – Employers will post jobs but have the potential to screen for certain candidates based on college and GPA

Which theme is best for creating a members-only site that is flexible in terms of profile development for students and allows employers to do targeted candidate searches based on customized criteria?

    Thank you

    1. John,

      Thank you for your comment!

JobEngine and Jobify are the right themes to create user profiles/resumes and make them searchable for registered users only. You can also leave some basic information about candidates public and make employers to request more details if interested. Or even make this option available only for paid subscribers. These themes are really flexible and should get the job done for you.

      1. Please do u have an idea which template can implement paid membership for both job seekers (employees) and employers who wish to post jobs on the site?

        1. Harry,

You can use WP Job Manager plugin for that or any theme which comes with support for this plugin such as Jobseek, Jobmonster, Jobera, Jobify and others.

  15. eveandadam says:

Thank you for this article. I am looking for a theme that will enable me to add a paid membership option for job seekers to be able to view the complete job listing. I like the look of WP Job Board plugin but as far as I can tell the membership options are only for employers to list jobs, not for job seekers to view them.

Something similar to this website: fruitpickingjobs.com.au (not my site).

Are you aware if any of these themes will enable me to do this? I need the easiest option available 🙂

    Thanks!

    1. I have never tried to use this plugin that way but if it is not possible with this plugin you can always combine it with something that allows you to set “restriction” on any post, page or any other item on your website. I am talking about Restrict Content PRO: https://pippinsplugins.com/restrict-content-pro-premium-content-plugin/

This will work with any of above listed themes even ones that doesn’t use WP Job Board plugin for job listing management.

      1. Hi again Aigars – What about ClassiPress from AppThemes for a solid template that is closest to Craigslist? I’m having issues trying to find a template that best mirrors CL or Indeed. My vision requires a similar look/feel. I’ve tried Templatic and EmployeePress, but they just don’t have this look. Also, do you know of any companies that may have already developed a “Craiglist” product from one of the templates?

      2. eveandadam says:

Thanks very much Aigars. I will check out Restrict Content Pro.

  16. Absolutely love this post. Wondering if you could suggest the best job search site similar to the layout of care[dot]com. My bottom line is to have options for premium (paid) users and basic users. Also, would like job seekers to post as well as employers to post. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Candace

    1. Alexa,

Any theme that integrates WP Job Manager can be configured to work it in similar manner like care.com. If you find that this plugin is not the right one, you can always combine theme with Restrict Content Pro plugin which will help to create paid subscription based website where you will be able to control what is displayed for paid and what for free members.

The main message here is not to concentrate on a single theme with all the functionality but instead look for theme that you like the best and then expand functionality by using plugins.

      1. Thanks for your reply Aigars. Just for clarification, do you mean any job board search theme (i.e. jobify, babysitter) that integrates WP Job Manager will do? Thanks again

        1. Choosing themes with WP Job Manager is always a better solution because it will be updated more often and will be maintained for a longer period of time. Therefore you won’t need to invest more money in new themes.

Restrict Content Pro will work with any theme as it integrates with WordPress itself and not theme, so you will be able to switch from one theme to another if needed and your restricted content will be still here, however, some themes might lock you in, that’s why plugin solution such as WP Job Manager is a better alternative.

  17. Hi Aigars,

This is a great resource – thanks! Do you know if any of these themes offer backfill?

    1. Martha,

Any of themes listed above can be used to backfill information such as job ads, company profiles and other information. Front-end submission comes as bonus if you really want to use it as subscription based job board when companies are allowed to post their job ads.

Even when front-end submission is enabled for these themes you still have administrator right to change everything and publish job ads on behalf of any company or create a new one. You are in charge here.

  18. I’m trying to find a job portal that will have the functionality for a registered user to be able to see from his dashboard, while entering one of his vacancies which people have already applied for it…

    1. Giannis,

Jobify theme is the right choice for you. It is fully integrated with WP Job Manager plugin and all its add-ons. This plugin alone is an incredible piece of software and in combination with Jobify it is limitless. It is worth to mention that Astoundify (developers behind Jobify theme) are active add-on developer for Wp Job Manager plugin that expands this plugin’s functionality even further.

  19. Hi, very useful insight.
I’m looking to create a simple ‘Recruitment website’ with basic ‘apply now’ (no candidate account creation required), no employer account creation. Just a simply recruitment, company promoting their vacancies.
I also need to be able to modify the look and feel and add corporate branding, Im also a complete WP novice but will have to take this on board, which theme would you recommend ?

    1. Chris,

I would personally recommend you to look into Suburbs which is a corporate theme with built-in job board functionality to post your own vacancies. It is a clean and modern theme and would be a great fit for recruitment company.

Also I would suggest to look at JobEngine and Jobify themes. While they are created as job board it doesn’t meant that you have to use all of its functionalities. Frontend vacancy submission can be disabled (actually it is disabled by default), so it can be used for a regular website while keeping vacancies in place as you will be the only one who will have rights to post them on website.

  20. Hi Aigars!

Just about to purchase a job theme (jobify, job engine or babysitter) but still need some clarification on the following:

    – is it necessary to purchase the core bundle package add-ons with wp job manager (features – applications, apply with linkedin, bookmarks, resume manager, wc paid listings, job alerts, indeed integration, simple paid listings, job tags)? OR

    – in addition to one of above themes and wp job manager, is it suffice to just get the add-ons: resume manager (manage cv), restrict content pro (manage subscriptions/ fees), apply with linkedin (option for applicants) and indeed integration?

My bottom line is to not pay more than $250 for the theme and add-ons. In addition to the job theme (TBA) AND wp job manager, should I get core bundle add-on pack (listed above) or just the 4 add-ons – resume manager, restrict content pro, indeed integration and apply with linked in?

    Any additional assistance greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Alex

    1. Alex,

      Sorry for late response.

Personally I would choose theme + WP Job Manager + Core Add-ons since it is all meant to work together by default. Of course you can combine WP Job Manager + Restrict Content Pro but it will not be as well integrated with the entire system.

Both plugins are developed by different developers and you can’t predict where they are going with their products in a long term. They are going to work now but I suppose you are not creating a website that will be live for few months but rather years and plugins that are meant to work together are going to be a better option in a long run.

      1. Hi Aigars,

Thanks for the response. I guess I was (am) a bit confused as to when to buy which package. If I buy the theme +core-add-ons + wp job manager it is the same as buying theme + resume manager + restrict content pro + wp job manager? My bottom line (in addition to esthetics) is to ensure resume uploads, control subscription fees and of course haves feeds (if possible) from indeed, etc.

        Thanks in advance,

        1. Alex,

Restrict content is not part of WP Job Manager and it can be used for making restricted (paid) access to all kind of content on your website. It doesn’t matter if it is blog posts, job ads, resumes, form or anything else. While it will work with WP Job Manager you will have to spend time integrating it and tweaking. No coding will be required but you will have to find the right option in the right place and make sure to use the right value. WP Job Manager + Core Add-ons, on the other hand, will work well together and there won’t be required any tweaking, so it is much simpler approach but slightly more expensive one.

Choosing Restrict Content Pro would be a good idea if you have different websites where you need paid subscriptions such as forums and other membership sites. So you would get one universal tool that you could use on different websites. But if this is not the case I would go with theme + WP Job Manager + Core Add-on bundle.

          1. Thank you Aigars.

Wasn’t too sure if they would be the same, but given your response (and my need to have resume control and paid subscriptions), WP Job Manager and Core Add-ons should more than suffice. One more thing, do you know if Jobify allows for a reference section and police check (i.e. applicants working with vulnerable populations) ?

Thanks again for all your help,
            Alex

  21. Alex,

You can add custom fields on resumes where candidates could add their references or any other information. But there is no built in tool to help you with reference and background check of any kind. This information should come from some third party database depending on country.

Ok, thanks for your previous advice

Im wanting to create a ‘Recruitment Website’ rather than a Job Board as I mentioned before, a Local recruitment agency posting job vacancy they receive from clients, with a quick application process, >>> apply, enter basic details, email, attach cover letter, cv etc. With job search by keyword, location etc, possible with a range, eg with 20miles of a specific postcode / zipcode.

    My question is this:
    1) My Client wants specific bespoke design, could / should I use something like the ‘Total Theme on theme forest or RTH-Theme18’ which seems to allow for easy design creation? (RT Theme allows for you to create bespoke templates, … not sure about the Total theme at the moment)

(Hope its ok to put links on here to help provide information)

2)Choosing Appropriate and well documented ‘plugins. I think the two that seem most popular are WP JOB Manager, which is initial free, but may require some additional paid plug ins.

    or

    WP Job Board

I am new new WP and would appreciate any comments

Does anyone have any comments on these requirements / approach / themes / themes with these plugin ?

    Any assistance much appreciated.

    Chris

    1. Chris,

      Thank you for your comment!

      1. Both your themes would get the job done as they both come with several different designed options that you can use. Also, both themes come with Visual Page Builder to create a custom layout and add different elements on any of pages.
Since you are looking for Multipurpose/Business themes you might want to have a look at this collection as well.

      2. Personally I like WP Job Manager better than WP Job Board. And from your above-mentioned requirements, it is very likely that you won’t need any premium Add-ons unless you want something more advanced such as Resume Manager, Option to apply with Linkedin and other. Here you can see this plugin in action.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Btw, I used to work for an international recruitment company for 5 years but they never allowed me to develop a website and my suggestion to use WordPress was also ignored. Now they have a custom-built solution in which they invested tens of thousands but it sucks 🙂

      1. Chris Bourne says:

        Thanks again for you help.

I’ll work with WP Job Manager and decide which Theme Im going to choose. (Thanks for the additional link)

All I need now are some video tutorials on WP Job Manager.

        Thanks

Another issue, ….about development of a website and then exporting to the customers own server.

At this stage I have to develop the website either locally or under a development ‘a.n.other’ domain name.

Can you offer any advice, I thought about having a separate domain purely for development.
GoDaddy offer a quick setup which would seem to allow me to setup in 5 mins, no complicated process.
Once complete I can then export the site using one of the available plugins ?

Are you able to advise on this?

        Thanks in advance

        1. Chris,

Personally I develop only locally because you can edit the entire theme folder all at once in text editor and don’t need to access your website from file to file bases via FTP.

However, if you will need to change only content, theme settings, add elements via page builder and other changes that are purely done via WordPress dashboard then I would use plugin to put your website in maintenance mode and and work on your site there. Only registered users (Administrator) will be able to see your website but other will see “coming soon” or “under construction” message.

Separate domain is totally not worth it as you can install multiple WordPress installations on the same domain just like we have with Colorlib for each theme demo. So it would look something like example.com/work-in-progress but example.com would should old website or whatever you have there.

          1. Chris Bourne says:

Thanks, I have created locally using wamp and now have the development environment setup.

            Thanks for the advice

  23. Hello Aigars,

Thank you for getting together such a cool resource! I have two queries on functions that i want to have on my site.
This is for part-time jobs, promotional jobs in the events industry.
    1) Could i have a functionality where i am able to send alerts to subscribers(free) on job alerts close to them? OR that matches their preferences?

    2) Could i have a mini-work room wherein an employer could email all the interested candidates at one go? within the system itself and fine-tune his selections. I was looking at this imp aspect from an employer’s perspective.

I love jobify so far, but the above two functionalities would be just awesome!. Would love to hear from you.

    1. Binu,

You are talking here about completely custom built solution with very specific use case and it might not be possible to create it without writing your own code or hiring developer to do it for you. However, the closest you can get is to use theme you already mentioned – Jobify. It uses plugin called WP Job Manager to which you can install addons to help handle emails, notifications, location based selection and much more. Here you can find all WP Job Manager Add-ons.

Other themes that doesn’t support WP Job Manager plugin (Jobera is another theme that does support it) are not possible to be configured to handle more than you see on their demo. Jobify and Jobera are your only options here.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

      1. Thank you Aigars, That answers my questions. Getting back to the drawing board now 🙂

  24. Great article. If anyone is looking to embed a job board to their website we recommend

    1. Does anyone know which one of threes job board themes can accommodate backfilling jobs?

      1. Hi Aigars , Thank you for all the information you’ve provide on this website.

I’m in the earlier stages of building a job’s board website. I’ve researched PHP products, specially the Smart Job Board’s program and have found a Smart Job Board developed website (CareersInGovernment.com) which has similar functionality to the site I envision.

Question: With the specific customization am seeking is there a WordPress product you would recommend? Jobifier? Jobera? Jobify?

        Thanks.

        1. Dave,

All your mentioned themes does have similar functionality such as location based search, resume management, frontend submission and other features. You can choose theme that you like the most from design perspective as functionality is very similar for all of them. My personal favorite theme right now is Jobify because of WP Job Manager integration that allows to extend theme functionality via dozens of add-ons if/when needed.

Let me know if you have any other specific questions about these themes.

  25. Hello Aigars, There is one more theme I heard “Jobifier”….whats your opinion on that.

    1. Deepu,

I will make sure to review this theme for the next update on this collection which is scheduled for January.

This theme looks great and does everything you would expect from Job board. The main features are frontend submission, subscriptions with notifications that will make your visitors to return when relevant job ad is published, also payment options are there by default. It’s definitely a nice theme and it deserves to be listed on this collection as well.

Thank you for notifying me about this theme!

  26. Hello Aigars,
Nice post! I am looking forward to buy a wordpress theme to build a job website. Here are some of the must have requirements for the job site:

    1) Front end login/registration
    2) Configurable layout architecture
    3) Configurable business plans(including free subscription for both job seeker or company)
    4) Configurable search options(job, resume or company search based on roles) including job map integration
    5) Featured job or company listing(widget is preferred)
    6) Integrated payment modules(paypal, credit card and manual-cash or bank )
    7) Integrated order management system(manual approval possible) which also includes revenue reports(weekly, monthly or yearly)
    8) responsive design(based on twitter bootstrap)
    9) new job or resume alters(job agent feature will be nice to have)
    10) Advertisement module
    11) Integration with analytics tools

Could you please suggest if anyone of the above mentioned(or any other) themes can fulfill the must have requirements?
    Thanks in advance
    Bob

    1. Bob,

      Thank you for your question!

You are basically looking at very basic functionality that any theme can provide with some exceptions:

      7. Order management should be done via PayPal, Stripe or other payment system because WordPress is not for payment handling.
      8. All themes are responsive and Bootstrap doesn’t make them better in any way unless you are developer yourself and will be looking to add more Bootstrap features in theme which is very unlikely.
      11. Analytics can be integrated by using plugin called “Google Analytics by Yoast” which would provide much more flexibility than any theme with buil-in analytics management. Most of these themes does have this ability but I would not recommend them.

I think you should look at Jobify theme which does have all your mentioned features and it used WP Job Manager plugin, so you can extend theme functionality with numerous add-ons.

Let me know if you have any other question about these or any other WordPress theme listed on Colorlib.

  27. Thank you for the research! I am looking for more than just a jobs board, I am looking to build a site that is a career portal- one that has job openings, but also a page to list continuing professional education, a page for initial education and certification, a page with map and average salary, etc..

Do any of the above themes [I like job engine (for look, email functionality and job import abilities) and jobify (for modification flexibility)] provide the capability of expanding the theme to add pages with reference materials and lists or will I need to use a separate theme and add a WP Job Board Plugin?

    Thank you.

    1. Jay,

All themes listed above does have job listings, company profiles and some of them even have resume pages but these are additional features built on top of WordPress default functionality. Which means that you can create blog page, portfolio, create unlimited informative pages, install bbPress forum or do other crazy things with your website. It’s WordPress, so everything is possible when it comes to content management.

My favorite themes are ones that uses “WP Job Manager” plugin because you can always install new add-ons when you need theme and there are many new add-ons created every month. That way you can keep developing your website and add more functionality as you grow.

  28. Nine to Five is the best theme for me. Is not expensive and is very elegant. I love it.

    1. Carl,
      Thank you for your feedback!
Nine to Five theme is a great theme and it is well maintained but personally I think it looks rather too classic and doesn’t have flat design or other fancy design elements that we have got used to these days. Nine to Five theme would definitely get the job done but it might not be the best choice for everyone.

      1. Of course, is not the best choice for everyone. I exposed my oppinion. Wp Jobboard (or Wp Job Manager… I don`t remember) have a very handsome addons… but if you don`t have a “sure” project, you risk if you buy it. Again, my oppinion.

  29. Hi Aigars
This is a great resource, thank you. I’ve been through all the options but would appreciate your view on this as I’m about to brief a developer to build me a website. I’m setting up a recruitment agency and looking for a slick website with a job search function. The job search will allow users to search jobs by location, category, salary and key word. They will be able to apply online. No other functionality is required. Can you advise what’s the best theme to use to achieve this? You mentioned Suburbs in an earlier comment.
My second question is, to what extent are the themes customisable?
    Thanks!
    Felicity

  30. Felicity,

Unfortunately, Suburbs theme is discontinued and is no longer available for sale. As alternatives for Suburbs I can suggest WPJobus or Jobify themes. Both themes are great and does exactly what you are looking for but the second one is much more customizable and flexible.

  31. Aigars,

I want to thank you for great recourse and I appreciate it.

I am about to start a Job Board website (fully automated) and i do have few requirements for my plan.
    1. Two types of user accounts are enabled for “Job Seeker ” and “Employers” and they can do all their posting and updating account information themselves. All typical account options are available for both user types (i.e – Job Seeker – Application history, and uploaded cv database, managing cvs etc)
    2. Job Seekers can direct apply for jobs from “apply now” button with a choice to upload any type of file ( pdf, doc. jpg.png) and no need to send emails.
    3. Employers can search resume, post jobs, look back history, and keep track of candidates in their employer accounts
    4. Email notifications are enabled for both job seekers and employers
    5. Job seeker and Employers sections are quickly and clearly can be seen.
    4. Supports advertising banners around the website and mobile compatible.

What would be the best choice for me. ? Can you please advise. ? that will be a great help.
    Thank you in advance.

    1. Charly,

      Sorry for late response.

Jobify is the theme you are looking for. It uses WP Job Manager plugin which is a free plugin but it comes with several add-ons that will help you to add functionality you are looking for. Most of these plugins are paid but they will get the job done easily and won’t require any coding from your side.

Let me know if you have some more specific questions about this or any other WordPress theme listed on Colorlib.

  32. Thank you for this collection – very useful indeed!
Which theme would you recommend for a site similar to ratedpeople.com ? It’s much simpler that all of them so would just using the WP Job Manager plugin be enough (I have some WP theme customization experience). Also, most of the theme are actually using this plugin – does it mean that I have to pay for the theme itself once and for the plugin again?
    Thank you for your time,
    Chris

    1. Chris,

Rated People is completely unique concept and there are not many alternatives out there. Maybe you could look into FreelancerEngine that could work well for categorized search but it would require some work.

WP Job Manager plugin is completely FREE. There are some premium add-ons available for it but you can start your website without paying for it and then add more features in case you need them. WP Job Manager plugin can be used with any free or premium WordPress theme (even defaults ones such as Twenty Fifteen, Twenty Thirteen and others) but of course it won’t look as good as Jobify would.

Let me know if this helps.

  33. Hello Aigars
This is a great list. Thank you for putting the time and effort to put it something. I do have some questions though.
Truth is, I’m looking to create my own website and I”m for a very specific type of job-board wordpress theme. The key word here is ACCURACY. Whenever I go to other job board site (Indeed, Monster, Careerbuilder) and I try search for Job restricted only to my home city, there’s always three problems
    1) bunch of fake job posting,
    2) jobs located outside my home city
    3) jobs that should have been listed (I check the other companies’ career website), but weren’t

More specifically, I’m looking to create sort-what of a company listing site powered by wordpress. A site that shows all the companies within a city, even the ones that have currently have no job opening posted, but could be hiring. I looking to build a site that will include all the small companies that always overlooked or never appear on major job posting sites just because they currently have no job opening, so it’s more of a job-positing/company-listing site.

    1. David,

The only theme worth consideration is Jobify because it uses WP Job Manager plugin that offers plenty of options and its functionality can be extended using free and premium add-ons.

Relevance is the problem for most job boards and most likely will become a problem for your website as well. I used to work for a recruitment company for 5 years and we used to have our own job board and I was the one responsible for publishing job ads elsewhere.
The problem we were facing for our website was that it had only few job ads (few hundred), so candidates spend very little time on our website, so we played around relevancy and search criteria to return more results. It doesn’t mean that users found irrelevant job postings because on different companies positions are named differently as well, so users looking for “support specialist” positions won’t think of all possible names for this positions. This is where “categories” comes into the play but then again these job ads are listed by employers and they can have a different perspective about what they are looking for and how they will fit their company. Basically you can’t predict users and how they will use your website.

Problems with our job ads on Monster and other job boards where that we didn’t get enough views when we made job ads more specifically categorized. We chose broader categories, so more users would find our job bads but this resulted in more irrelevant applications but also we got more relevant applications as more users saw our job ads.

For our website we also offered tailor-made email subscriptions to receive job ads directly in their email. But it caused more problems that good because tailor made means that we need to know as much information about you as possible but how we can get this information? You need to answer multiple questions but who has time for this? Yes, no one. The ones who got through signup (we tweaked it hundreds of times) usually made their job selection so narrow that they basically never received any relevant job ad.

Sorry for a very long but this is the thing I have gone through and I like to share my experience with others, so others can learn before they jump into something new.

      1. Actually, I am grateful that your reply was very detailed and descriptive. It means that you put real thought into answering my question.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, could you clarify or elaborate what you mean by “Relevance”.
So me personally, for someone with no work experience and willing to take any entry-level job, “relevance” to me is any job within a reasonable distance, otherwise the cost of traveling outweighs the pay of the job.

Also, it might be best for me to clarify what I mean by “Accuracy”

I go to Google Map and see companies like Dream Wireless in Diamond Bar, CA
I go to their company website and see that they’re hiring or least have an open position.
However, I go any major job board site (Indeed.com, Monster, Careerbuilder, etc…) and I can’t even find the company Dream Wireless listed, even when I specifically search for it.

There are small, private companies, looking to hire, but are completely overlooked, ignored, by major job board sites.
That’s what I want for my new website.
To list all those overlooked, small companies in ANY city.
I don’t even care if those small companies have an open job position.
I want to create a website that list all companies within a city so that job seekers can consider ALL of their options

        So to summarize my questions:
        1. Can the website I want to create even be created or powered by WordPress?
        2. If possible through WordPress, will it only require buying premium plugins and a little design work or require massive customization through coding and actual programming
        3. Is this feasible for only one person to create this website, or will it require a team of veteran programmers?
        4. What would be the cost of creating of maintaining such a site (web hosting, customer support, domain name, etc..)?
        5. What would be the ideal revenue model for this website?

        P.S.
As for it being ‘long’ reply, I’m in college right now, doing written assignments that have a 1-page minimum requirement and doing 36-pages per chapter reading assignment, so this ‘long’ reply isn’t exactly ‘daunting’ in any way.

        1. David,

Matching jobs based on location is rather easy. We were more looking to match skills, salary expectations, location, experience and other factors.

For you it is going to be rather easy to build a job board like this.

          1. It can be built on WordPress and I think the best theme for you would be Jobify. For example here you can see its job search ability. It already has everything you were looking for.
2./3. It depends on what tweaks you are going after. These premium themes does offer most of the functionality you need but in case you are looking for something else then of course someone will need to build those features. That’s definitely not a full-time job but from time to time you might have to hire some freelancer to do the job. No clear answer for this one as it is entirely up to your vision, budget and expectations.
          4. Costs for creating WordPress powered website: Domain – $10-$15/year, Hosting – $5-$30/month depending on quality of hosting. Slow host with limited support comes $5/month and fully managed and ultra fast WordPress hosting from WPEngine costs $30. So you get what you pay for. Cheap = slow and unreliable. Expensive = fast, fully managed and reliable. As your website will grow cost for hosting will grow as well but so will your revenue. Premium theme $50-$100 (on time purchase). For more information about how to choose the right hosting for your website you might want to read his guide.
          5. The main thing is not to ask money from end users but charge companies to use your service. The best revenue model for you would monthly subscriptions, so you can keep your website afloat. This could include different packages such as one expensive one with premium support + featured listings (top positions in search, richer profile information etc). Other packages with no support, with limited company profile information etc. There are many ways how you can work things out but the main thing is to find the model in which you truly believe in. You don’t know if it will work or not but the main thing is to believe it it and stand behind it. If someone asks why your business model is like this you must have a perfect answer in place and not some Googled answer but your own belief.

The main thing is to start somewhere and then tweak from there.

  34. hello,

I am looking for the theme where the job offer pay an amount of is choice to do the job and the person who get the job receive this amount less a website commission.
    it a micro job website.

    example :
I offer 40$ to clean my pool
I pay 40$ TO THE WEBSITE
the candidate do the job and receive from the website the amount less the commission ( example 35$)

do you have advice to find a theme close to this set up?

    1. Pierre,

Yes, there are two themes specially designed to serve micro job niche. One theme is called Micro Jobs and second one is called Pricerr. You can find them listed and reviewed above.
Let me know if you have any further questions about these or any other job board themes.

  35. thank you , the micro job theme does not have the escrow system where we can charge the freelancers before the payment of the job.
in micro job : only the poster is able to be the payer of a flat fee.

What do you think about freelanceEngine?

    1. Pierre,

FreelancerEngine is a great theme by developers specialized in this kind of themes, so you can expect the best possible quality. While this theme is originally built for online jobs such as design, content writing, data entry. development, SEO or other services but I have no reason why it would not work for local jobs. There are several extensions available for this theme that will help to add more payment options and it is very likely that more extensions will be developed over time for this theme. It was recently released so there are not many extensions now but you can expect that more are in the works as EngineThemes business depends on these extensions.

  36. Rajendra Reddy says:

My suggestion is not to go for microjob themes if you are completely looking for only job portal, because microjob themes is entirely into a different segment. i have already made this mistake so plz think twice before u buy a theme

  37. DigiWeaver says:

    Hi Aigars,
I’m wondering if you may have researched what options are: (1) most likely to be crawled by aggregator job boards like Indeed (so you get the most exposure) I.e., the public job board spiders index your jobs; (2) Also, which ones are most optimized for SEO? Thanks.

    1. Thank you for your questions!

      1. You need to notify Indeed and other job boards about your existance because there are millions of job board and they are not crawling random ones but ones that they trust and know that there are going to be unique job ads posted all the time. Any theme will do the job but you need to do your part and establish partnership with crawlers.
      2. All themes listed above are WordPress themes and what WordPress is famous for? Yes, it is famous for SEO best practices. Since all themes undergoes the same review process and needs to be coded using the best coding practices then all themes are SEO friendly by default. However, you still need a help from plugins such as SEO by Yoast to set what pages are more important on your website and do some other SEO related tweaks but these are minor things just to stand out between your competitors.

Let me know if this helps.

  38. I wonder if customer can create different or they own cv database. In one of this templates.

    1. Joseph,

For Jobify theme you can have your own CV database based on applications that you have received. However, this feature is only available as paid add-on for WP Job Manager but it is absolutely worth it. That way you will be able to use this theme as recruitment platform and sell it as service to companies.

  39. altroaltrove says:

    Really helpful insight and advices.
    Just one more tip please.
Interested into some freelancer alike template but I wish not to create an open bidding platform.
For this reason I need to lock (only) the contact data either of the JobRequesters and of the Freelancers.
Moreover I need the website to show just an excerpt of the JobRequests.
Is there any avalaible plugins/scripts in order to?

    Regards

    1. There are no such theme available but you can use something like Restrict Content Pro which should work with any theme listed above. It helps to lock any content type, so users need to take some action in order to unlock it.

  40. Which has the easiest customizable fields. I am looking to build a template that would have a lot (at least 20) specific details for both the job posting & the Resumes.

Also are the resume’s kept private unless people are logged in?

    Thanks

    1. Sam,

If you choose any of themes that are based on “WP Job Manager” plugin (Jobify are the best examples) you can use extension called “Field Editor” to create new fields and editi existing ones. If you have some basic coding knowledge then adding new fields could be possible without plugins as it is rather simple and you could do that with any theme but otherwise Field Editor is your safest bet.

Resume’s can be made available for registered users or even based on different paid subscription levels. The best solution here again is WP Job Manager plugin + Resume Manager add-on.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  41. Thanks for this amazing post and message board! I have found it all very helpful.

A version of this question has been asked before but I am not quite sure I understand the answer. I am trying to build a job board for a local niche market that would connect employers with temporary or casual employees/freelancers to do small on-the-spot (not online) jobs. Most of the themes mentioned above seem quite compatible with this idea but the catch is I want to be able to charge the employer a reoccurring subscription fee to access the site and post jobs but I ALSO want the employer to be able to “rate” the employee after the job is complete and for those “ratings” to be attached to the employees info page for other potentially employers to see (in the exact same way a buyer on ebay or amazon or whatever can see “ratings” on sellers). I am leaning toward jobify but it is not clear to me that a plugin exists or could be developed that could add this element to my job board service (which is absolutely key…the nature of the local market I am seeking to address with this site will absolutely rely on previous positive reviews of temporary employees).

    I hope that made sense.

    Thanks!

    1. Clark,

Unfortunately, Jobify theme is not going to be the right one because it is not suitable for temporary jobs (freelancer jobs). It doesn’t have a public rating/review system. There is an option to rate and add notes for employees but those are kept private for employer who made those notes and are not sharable.

I think that the most suitable themes for you are FreelancerEngine and HireBee. Both are great themes and does feature rating system and are best suited for temporary positions and freelance work.

Let me know if you have any other question.

      1. Thanks so much (I am sorry it took me so long to log back on and say so)! One other quick follow-up question. I believe I have settled on Freelancer Engine but I am still not sure that I would be able to implement a “monthly subscription fee” payment setup for employers to access site and post jobs (as opposed to the pay-per post package set-up that seems to be the default). Is there an easy plugin that could make this possible? Would a developer be able to customize a Freelance Engine page to accomplish this?

Thanks so much for this board!

  42. Hi Aigars,

Thank you for this useful post.
I am a french entrepreneur and i would like to build a resume board where people can have a wonderful single page resume with a unique web address. like : mywebsite/John-doe.com
I had a Jobify theme with all of payed extension : resume manager, job manager etc… but Jobify doesn’t show correctly the resume page (it is not enough beautiful). I prefer WPJobus for the styled resume page.
I am afraid that the extensions are not compatible with Wpjobus.
Should I stay on Jobify and change the style sheet or can I start with WPJobus with all jobify extensions?

Thank you for your response !
(sorry for my english 🙂 )

    1. Florian,

I have no problems to understand you, so our english is good enough 🙂

WPJobus might work with WP Job Manager plugin and all its extensions but it will look like nothing you see on WPJobus theme demo because this theme is not optimized to work with this plugin and it uses its own page templates. It would be a great to combine both these platforms together but buying and activating this theme won’t do the trick and you will have to get your hands dirty coding.

I think that it would be easier to start with your existing setup and create resume/profile pages that would look like ones on WPJobus. Not an easy task but still better than to start from scratch.

Let me know if you have any other question.

  43. Hey Aigars,

Great article! Really informed me on what I need to look at when picking a job board theme.

I wanted to get some quick input from you if possible before I finalize my decision.

I need a job board theme which allows for employers to purchase plans to upload their job openings. I am not in need of any functionality to upload resumes to the site for review. The only need I would have for resumes if for the job seeker to be able to upload them when they apply for a job. I am also looking to setup different sections (IE internships and careers).

I believe this makes Jobera and Jobify the most viable options for my needs. Are there any other distinguishing factors that could set either of these apart?

    Thanks you!

  44. Skyler,

You have already made the right decision by selecting Jobera and Jobify themes. Now you can go with your personal preference as both themes are using the same WP Job Manager plugin for most of their functionality. Jobify supports more of free and paid WP Job Manager add-ons, so that’s the main difference here but it is a very minor thing if both themes already have everything you need.

You can categorize jobs using both of these themes but Jobify have a better looking category pages but that’s my personal preference.

Let me know if this helps.

    1. Aigars,

Thank you for your timely response.

Yes, you cleared it up perfectly for me. My initial thought was to go with Jobify and after your comments I do believe it is the theme for me.

      Thank you again!

  45. Developer Wim says:

Best job board themes for WordPress indeed. What about features, do they differ a lot?

    1. I haven’t tested all of these themes but my favorite theme on this list is Jobify because its design really stands out among other similar themes. It can be used as front-end submission theme as well as you can use it internally for your company. This theme has become standard in this niche and you can’t go wrong by choosing this theme.

Themes are based on similar Job board platforms, so they are not that different from one and you won’t regret choosing any of them.

  46. Aigars,

This is a great discussion and review of job boards. So far, Jobify and Jobifier seem to be the most interesting for my purposes. However, I’m not sure if any of these plugins can provide what I am looking for.

I have several different TYPES of JobSeeker e.g. JobseekerA, JobseekerB, JobseekerC etc. I could have approx 100 different people that would fall into each of these categories.

I also have several different types of recruiter e.g. RecruiterA, RecruiterB, RecruiterC etc. There would only be 1 person in each of these categories.

I would like RecruiterA to be able to post jobs that only jobseekers from category JobSeekerA can view. Similarly for RecruiterB – I would only like jobseekers from category JobSeekerB to see such jobs etc. I don’t want RecruiterA & type JobSeekerA seeing positions posted by RecruiterB etc..

Is it possible to setup such a scenario with any of these plugins or would I have to create separate websites for RecruiterA/JobSeekerA, RecruiterB/JobSeekerB etc ..

    Thanks in advance.

    1. Séamus,

You can use different categories for your jobs but still they are going to show up on the main feed with jobs from other categories.
More flexible solution would be to take any of your mentioned themes and then use separate WordPress installations on separate directories like so:
      – example.com/JobseekerA
      – example.com/JobseekerB

      or via subdomain:
      – JobseekerA.example.com
      – Jobseekerb.example.com

That way you will get much better flexibility. Not an ideal solution but it will get the job done.

  47. Hi Aigars

I am looking for a job board theme that will have job seeker and recruiter login areas.

Also one where i can set up monthly “job” packages and limit the amount of jobs posted and cv search per month.

There is so many themes to chose from so im looking for some advice.

    Thank you in advance.

  48. jobroller has indeed integration too, do you think it’s better than jobifier?

    1. Joe,

If indeed integration is what you are after then, of course, Jobroller is a better choice. If that’s not the main thing then both themes are really good and will get the job done with ease. It’s all about your personal preference.

  49. Can you use the genesis framework underneath these themes. Or. Can you install wordpress then genesis then one of these themes so that the wirdpress code can be updated easy without effecting the child theme.
    Thanks

    1. Cathal,

Genesis, while called framework, is a WordPress Parent theme and all themes that are available for this platform are Child Themes. Also Genesis is not working without WordPress because it is just a theme. Rather advanced theme but still theme. Which means that you can’t use these themes in combination with Geness.

if you are looking for Genesis Child themes you might want to check this theme collection instead.

      1. Hi, no I was looking for job board child theme that works with genesis so that I don’t have to learn A whole other theme.
        Thanks
        Cathal

        1. Cathal,

Then you can use WP Job Manager or WPJobBoard plugins in combination with any Genesis theme. Because there aren’t any ready-made Genesis Job Board themes out there. But these plugins does work well with Genesis themes by default, so no problem with that.

  50. HI

I need an all in one theme as im not so sure about having to use a lot of plugins.

What would be my best solution?

Is there any theme out there thats offers an option for a mixed product ie. X amount of jobs and X amount cv views for one price instead of having to buy a job pack and cv pack?

    What are your views/opinions?

    Kindest Regards

    1. PS. Does any of the themes allow recriters to add a sub account?

      1. Matthew,

Unfortunately, there is no such option for that. Each recruiter should have a separate account.

  51. Hello Aigars,

Thanks for this excellent review of themes. You are the the ‘real deal’ and seem to have genuine expertise about Job Board themes.

We are planning to purchase Job Engine but are wondering if we can integrate WPJob plugins with it. We’d like to password protect resume/CV postings from viewing by the general public.

    1. Jane,

      Thank you for your feedback!

Job Engine doesn’t use WP Job Manager for its job board functionality. WP Job Manager can be used with any theme including Job Engine but you will get double functionality of everything as theme itself is a job board and plugin generates its own. They technically work together but they doesn”t work together like Jobify would.

If you are planning to use WP Job Manager then I would recommend some regular and maybe even free WordPress theme to avoid duplicate functionality. Or use Jobify of Jobus themes that are already integrated with WP Job Manager and doesn’t do much without these plugins.

Let me know if this helps.

      1. Thanks for your reply. It is really great to be able to get feedback from someone who is truly knowledgeable.

We’re debating between going with JobEngine or Jobify. There seems to be a good case for each, based on what you’ve outlined in your review of each theme.

I guess ultimately Jobify offers more option since you can add on multiple plugins, while JobEngine is better because the design is more ‘timeless’ and the coding is reputed to be very solid.

Can JobEngine be populated with job listing from other online sites? I believe that WP Job Manager has a plugin for this that would work with Jobify.

  52. Thanks Aigars for the wonderful post. This is very educating.
Please I have a rather peculiar problem, that I’d need your advice on.(tho, I’ve seen some related comments already, they dont seem to address my issue very well).

I’m setting up a careers page on my already existing wordpress website.
On the careers page, I would need:

    1. Job seekers that need a job at our firm to create a profile account with us, that they can view and update from time to time, when they have updated experience, job, and education information, even when we have NO job Listings.

    2. To be able to add many custom fields on thier (jobseekers) signup form to collect indept information about them (jobseekers).

    3. Just me and any other admin from my company to be the ones posting job openings from backend(wordpress dashboard). No other employers’ “post a job” link on the frontend, as is currently seen in some of the demos mentioned above.

    4. To be able to search for/sort Job seekers’ profiles from the backend based on their qualifications, age, experience, etc. So we can contact these specific persons incase of special interviews.

    5. The job seekers (after login) to have their own dashboard from where they can apply for any listed job, using their already setup resume / profiles, that’s already in our database.

I’d really appreciate your professional advice on this. Thank you.
PS: sorry for my bad English 🙂

    1. Sam,

Jobify, JobEngine, WPJobus, Jobera are themes that supports all your above mentioned functionality. All things that you can see on theme demos such as employer signup, paid listings, “post a job” button and other things are optional. You can enable or disable them any time. Theme demos are created to showcase all theme functionality but you aren’t obligated to use all of them on your website. Just disable functionality that you don’t need and you are good to go.

Let me know if you have any other question about these or any other WordPress theme listed on Colorlib.

      1. Aigars,

First of all, thank you very much for the quick reply. I really appreciate.
It’s really relieving to know that there’s solution for my problem afterall.

I noticed tho that the options you suggested are all themes.
Please considering that I already have a theme installed, and would like the entire site including the career page to use the same style, could I achieve all above mentioned functionality using the plugins approach? And if so, what extra addons will I need?

        1. Sam,

Ok, I see. Then WP Job Manager plugin comes the closest for what you need. It will not pick up styling from your theme but it has a very genetic styling that should look natural with your theme and won’t stand out. WP Job Manager is a free plugin but I think that you will need the entire premium add-on bundle to make it work the way you described above. Of course you won’t need all of those add-ons but you will get a much better deal when buying a whole package.

          1. Thanks again Aigars. You’ve been most helpful. I checked out the add-on bundle, and like you said, it really is a good deal. But if the Jobify theme comes with all these features “pre-installed”, then I’ll have to go with the option of getting a subdomain for the careers page, and getting the Jobify theme(and forget about uniformity). Or would I have to buy other addons after getting the theme?

  53. Aigars, you seem to be the most truly knowledgeable person giving online advice about themes. So could I ask you if you know of a theme that would enable us to let our members each create their own ‘gallery’ of their work on our website?

From what I can see, there are themes that let you create a gallery of your work on your site, but not any that allow multiple users to individual galleries on one site. Maybe I’m not looking in the right direction for this?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.

  54. Hi, I’m looking for a theme and pluig in which can be used for setup a casting site.

    1) Jobs listing for productions companies producing movies, commercials etc.
    2) The candidates should be paying a subscription fee or a fee to see the content of the job.

    Thanks in advance

    1. Thomas,

Unfortunately, I don’t have any recommendations for this kind of setup. One thing that I can help with is payments and subscriptions on WordPress. For that you can use Restrict Content. Also premium version of this plugin is available if there is not enough functionality for you in the free version. This plugin works well with most themes listed above.

  55. Hi Aigars,

    Again, thanks for this post.

At this point, I would like to integrate a board onto one of my (already existing) sites. I am looking to do the following with a board – “find a stylist”:

    – visitors able to search for a stylist in their area (worldwide)
    – visitors able to leave a review for stylists listed on site
    – stylists able to register/add their own profile to site (with customised fields – i.e. their training, years of experience, awards received, type of products/merchandise they use, pictures of their work, etc.)
    – stylists have option of basic listing (free) or premium (sponsored) listing – with premium listing being on top and different paid packages i.e. weekly, monthly, annual rates
    – social media integration – i.e. twitter, facebook, instagram

With the above, I am thinking Jobify may be best for me; with Restrict Content and WP Job Manager added. Agree/ disagree?

    Thanks in advance,
    A

    1. Alex,

I would vote for either Jobify or Listify. Both are developed by the same developer and uses WP Job Manager plugin for its core functionality. Listify is more like a directory style theme and probably would work better than Jobify in your case. I don’t think that other themes comes close to these two offerings.

  56. Hi Aigars, great review.
I’m looking for a theme that can:
    – Create 2 different account types (employer, candidate).
    – Post a job
    – Online resume
    – Search for candidates
    – Search for jobs
    – Manage account (employer and candidate separately)
    – Apply for job using online resume
    – Integration with payment provider

Jobify has the most reviews and support, but JobMonster, Freelance engine also look good. In fact, most of them do!

I’m happy to pay a developer to customise the theme and plugin.

Would you have any suggestions on the best theme?

    Thanks!

    1. Liz,

You just described most themes that are listed above. You are looking for a really basic functionality and JobMonster, Jobify, WPJobus will get the job done for you. Freelance engine is more to build freelancer marketplace just like Freelancer.com, elance.com and Upork.com. While you can use it for a regular job board I would recommend to stick with regular themes instead.

Theme developers usually don’t do paid customization work. But that’s not a big deal as you can always find someone on Freelancer.com, elance.com and Upork.com who will be happy to help with customizations.

  57. Hello Aigars,

    Thanks for the articulated review.

I’m trying to create a website that would allow job seekers build and host their online CV on my site with a unique url such as aigars.mysite.com or mysite.com/aigars

The website will run in successive stages and eventually turn to a job board. Do I have to use a theme at the initial stage? If so, could you please recommend one?

    1. Lola,

If you know how to convert one post type into another or convert the entire database into another then you can create a resume website now and then switch it into job board. But since you ask this question I am almost certain that this is not the right solution for you.

The best looking online resumes are for WPJobus theme and you can read more about it here. You can start now with its resume functionality and then move to job board functionality when the time is right.

Let me know if you have any other question about WPJobus or any other job board theme listed above.

  58. Aigars,

Cheers for doing such a thorough job on your reviews, and even more kudos on your follow through to answer every single question that has been thrown your way.

If I may, I too am looking into these themes for a client.
After many hours scrubbing these there are a few things I can’t seem to find.

It’s pretty much a handyman board.
There will be several categories, ie..plumber, carpenter, etc etc.

Couple of features are a must..
    * Escrow for billing and payment.
    * % of billed hours to company (ie. Odesk)
    * public facing feedback from employer would be great.
    * communications between employee and employer controlled by us

Bonus would be the ability for employee to load video resume if possible. (sort of like a dating site..long walks on the beach, etc 🙂

We are pretty anal about the look and feel, and would much prefer to use our own created theme, but are open to one of the “pre-made” themes if plugins are available.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers
    Ru

    1. Ruious,

Thank you for your positive feedback! I highly appreciate it!

FreelancerEngine is the only theme listed above with all your mentioned features including public feedback scores, Escrow and messaging and much more. Other themes are more for general job boards but FreelancerEngine is more like other freelance marketplaces.

Let me know if you have any other question about FreelancerEngine or other job board themes.

      1. Cheers Aigars,

I can’t tell does the core theme come with the above mentioned functionality?
Are the extensions necessary? ie.. ETMail for the communications portion?

        Again,
        Thank you for your time.

        1. ET Mailing is not part of theme itself but it is a free extension available for FreelanceEngine theme. Should install separately but it doesn’t add extra complexity or costs.

  59. Rather than a membership plan set up, do any of these themes allow you to set up a transaction fee and eliminate the membership plan entirely?

    1. Paid memberships are completely optional for all themes listed above. You can create website with completely free registration without any restrictions. Transaction fees are not calculated separately but why not to include in the total amount by default. If you create a website with $50 signup fee and know that $5 will be lost in transaction fees. Why not to charge $55 in the first place?

Personally I hate when price listed on website is completely different from one I have to pay at the end when some hidden fees and setup costs have been added.

  60. I’m just testing the WP Job Manager Plug-in. Until now it’s fine for the project I’m working on. I like the Jobify Layout, but couldn’t find it yet. Does it still exist?

    1. Janine,

Jobify theme can be found and purchased here. It’s a premium WordPress theme and like any other premium theme there is no trial or free version available. WP Job Manager, on the other hand, is completely free to use and can be combined with any WordPress theme. Jobify have a special styling applied to this plugin to make it work perfectly together.

  61. Aigars:

Thanks for taking the time to put this together. What do you recommend for the technically challenged? I want to add a niche job board to my already existing wordpress site. Ideally, I would like to import jobs from various sources. I have experimented with WP JobBoard, but when I try to add a feed from Indeed, it messes up the look of my site. I haven’t even figured out all of the other integrations. I want something that looks professional, but I don’t need alot of extras. My main goal is to import freelance job opportunities.

    1. Tj,

WP Job Manager handles import from Indeed much better than WP JobBoard. You still need an extensions for WP Job Manager but at least it will work and won’t break your website. Jobify themes are compatible with WP Job Manager plugin in case you want to change your existing theme. Both above listed themes are easy to setup and use.

  62. Hello,

I want to build an opportunity search engine for young Ethiopians, something that looks like Opportunity Desk website. My major is in Sociology so I don’t have any web designing experience. Thanks to my friend, on yesterday, I heard that I can design a websites using WordPress without having any prior experience in web designing. Thus, today I started googling about it and found out that there are themes like jobify that would look great for my cause. However, I wanted to know whether or not this particular theme supports Twitter and Facebook posts just like the website I just mentioned earlier. And my another question is, would I get jobify if I purchase the premium version of WordPress for 199?

    1. Barkeal,

None of above listed themes are meant for WordPress.com and are for self hosted WordPress. WordPress.com comes with completely different themes but their selection is very limted and there aren’t any job board themes at all.

For above listed themes you will need your own hosting provider and you can start by researching options here.
Your friend is absolutely correct that you can create your own website using WordPress and that there aren’t any coding or design skills required. For detailed guide on how to get started you can read this tutorial. This tutorial will guide through all steps from an idea to fully working WordPress website with all required plugins and theme you have chosen.

Jobify is a great theme and you can’t go wrong by choosing it for your website. Your mentioned Facebook and Twitter posts are added via WordPress widgets and that’s e very simple process and our website setup guide will help you with that as well.

  63. Dear Aigars,

I want to build a website where private tutors are listed there and students can go find them on their own. The private tutors have to be able to set (1) multiple subjects that he/she can teach, and (2) multiple locations that he/she can serve (I live in a small country). The students can then search through the location and the subject to find their private tutor and contact on their own. It would be good to include the badges features that can indicate whether the private tutor’s certificate is verified, and the students can leave some feedback to them.

May I know which of the job theme is best for me? Or which directory listing theme is best for me?

    Thank you so much.

  64. Hi Aigars,

Thanks for the very informative article and taking the time to reply to every question posted. I am looking to start an industry specific job board and have shortlisted jobify and jobifier.
I like the look of the jobifier theme slightly better as I think Jobilfy has slightly bigger fonts / image buttons etc.

Which theme according to you will help me in the below :

Q1. can I change the font and size of font buttons in Jobify to my liking?
Q2. Can I run ads of Google paid ads on search page / job listing page / home page / any other page
Q3. I want to ensure that all jobs posted should be approved by moderator (me) before going live on the site. Which will help me do that?
Q4. What is the scalability of any these themes supposing the traffic is high? Supposing I want to move to another tech platform (custom built) in future, how will I be able to transfer the data (resumes / jobs)?
Q5. Robust search – allowing boolean search / multiple keyword search / search within search etc
Q6. If a theme is updated with new features later, will it automatically update for me? If a theme developer stops support for a theme, what happens?

I am also looking to include below functionality :

    Flow and features :

    – Jobseeker can search jobs posted.
    – He will then view the job
    – Apply button / Apply through Linkedin
    – It will create his own account / dashboard
    – He can see a dashboard of which jobs he has applied for & when, any response from employer
    – He can update his CV if required
    – He can reapply for already applied job in case he does not get any response
    – He can see the activity level of each employer, when they logged in, have they updated status
    – He can receive daily / weekly mail digest on matching jobs
    – Saved searches

Employer will click button – Post Job
    – This will ask him to create a profile :
    – Name, Email Id, Phone No, Company Designation, Company description (250-1000 words)
    – Then he can post a job
    – Job has to be validated by me before becoming live on the site to ensure that it is being posted by a real company
    – It will create his own account / dashboard
    – He can see candidates who have applied, change status as below :
    – select / reject / save for later / download
    – He can receive daily / weekly mail digest on matching resumes
    – Saved searches

    Plan to monetise :
    – Advertisements through Google
    – Featured jobs which will stay on top of the listings
    – After 10 resume views, charge flat fee for viewing remaining resumes.
    – Featured employers listing

Please let me know which WP theme will be best for me? In what situation would you suggest I do not go for any WP theme and rather get it custom built (apart from cost)

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Ajay

    1. Ajay,

A1. Yes, theme is flexible enough that you can change color scheme, fonts and other aspects of it.

A2. Yes, you can run Google AdSense ads on your website. I recommend official Google AdSense plugin for that.

A3. You can set all content to be moderated before it goes live on your website.

A4. Themes and WordPress can handle millions of entries and millions of visitors but the real question here is if your hosting can handle. You can read more about our hosting recommendations on this article.

A5. Unfortunately, none of themes offers search inside search and for that you either need some plugin or write your own search tool.

A6. You will be able to update your theme but updates are not completely automated. If theme developer decides to discontinue support for this item, you will be able to use this item without any problems. It will work perfectly fine as long as WordPress doesn’t introduce some drastic changes that might break theme or some of its functionality.

      1. Thanks a lot, Aigar. Your insights are very helpful.

Lastly would you suggest Jobify or Jobifier for my requirements?

        Regards,
        Ajay

    2. Mandy Jones says:

      Hi Ajay,

Which theme did you choose, especially to manage:
      Employer
      – He can see candidates who have applied, change status as below :
      – select / reject / save for later / download
      – He can receive daily / weekly mail digest on matching resumes
      – Saved searches

  65. Hi Aigars,

could you tell me if WPJobus includes WooCommerce or a sort of payment system for my customers?

  66. Hello Aigars,

This is an awesome article and great message thread! Congratulations for offering such thorough and detailed information and advice!
I have been mostly working with Joomla in the past, but lately have started exploring WordPress based options as well.
We are looking to develop an JobPortal for an international client. He needs the following key elements and features:

    – Sign-ups for employers AND job searchers
    – flexible membership packages can be created by administrator
    – ability to generate job main categories AND subcategories
    – Multi-lingual capability for dynamic content built-in, and editable in back-end
    – scalable (potentially large user base)

Which theme could you see as probably most suitable for these requirements?

Again, this is a top-notch article&thread, and thank you for all your advice!

    Regards, Chris

    1. Hello Chris,

      Thank you for your question!

Jobify is them theme you are looking for.

One thing I want to point out is that WordPress by default is created to handle millions of entries and users. But if you are using a cheap shared hosting don’t expect that you will ever be able to reach large user base. Shared hosting is meant for very small static websites and won’t work in your case. To find hosting that will be able to handle a large user base you might want to read our WordPress hosting guide.

      1. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to our posts!
I had also been looking at JobRoller It appears to have multi-level categories and customizable plans/packages and multi-lingual ability (unless I misunderstood on their site).
Is there a particular reason you would pick Jobify over JobRoller for my stated requirements? Does it have more features?

        1. Chris,

It is just my personal preference. I like Jobify’s design better but if you prefer JobRoller that’s fine too as it will get the job done for you with ease.

  67. Great article!
I noticed some themes have single domain license restrictions and others don’t.
Would you happen to know which of the above themes have no domain restrictions? (i.e. GLP license or other open source)
    Thank you.

    1. Hello Steve,

Yes, most themes listed above can be used for a single website as clearly stated in their licence. However, there are several exceptions and most notable are Jobify. If you are unsure about licensing for some other themes, please let me know which one and will give you more information about its license.

  68. Thank you! Great article. After reading this I am confused if I should go for Jobengine or Jobify. Which one do you think is better? Any key difference? One important thing I am looking for is to get the Indeed jobs integration. I was thinking of using Jobroller but the interface look very bland. Any suggestion?

    1. Sam,

Personally, I like Jobify better than JobEngine but that’s only because I prefer its design. Jobroller feels outdated and sluggish but it works perfectly well.
The main difference is that Jobify depends for most of its functionality on plugins that are actively maintained. Which means that if theme developer decides to further maintain this theme it is very likely that you will still get the latest and greatest functionality from plugins that are developed separately by different companies. I think that’s a nice touch but JobEngine is a great theme as well and it will get job done with ease and it’s about your personal preference. Choose theme that you like the most.

  69. This is an exceptional, and timely summary. I am particularly interested in the freelance posting sites, and would appreciate your suggestions as to the one that might work best for our needs.

I am interested in building a site where freelancers in a very specific, niche industry can post their professional/personal background without giving their identity. This background would include the ability to share their work history, upload writing samples etc. The free lancers would perhaps pay a fee for various level listings, but there would be a free listing available as well

Companies searching for these freelancers should have the ability to search for and review all of these profiles, and they would also have their own “membership” fee for access, giving the ability to confidentially contact the freelancers at will. Companies might have the opportunity to run ads of some kind within the platform.

    Should be mobile enabled.

I may have some more preferences, but this is all for now to get started with…many thanks again.

    1. Derek,

FreelancerEngine, HireBee and maybe even Micro Jobs are your only options. All other themes are for regular job boards and would not work well for freelancer marketplaces such as Upwork.

      1. Hello Aigars,
Do you know how I can change resume to CV on wordpress themes especially Jobify. Thanks

        1. Yemmy,

Yes, you can do that. You can even translate theme into any language you want.

  70. Sad to see that WPJOBUS has been pulled down just when I was about to hit the “Buy” button ! Will be thankful if anybody can direct me to some website where I can buy it. What a loss !

    1. Vinstar,

Thank you for reporting it! We are already in contact with theme developers to understand if this theme is permanently removed or it’s some sort of temporary issue. Will keep you posted.

    2. Vinstar,
Sorry for late response. WPJobus theme is back on track. They had to fix some bugs but everything is now sorted.

  71. Aigars,

Thanks for the wonderful post and research. I’m trying to narrow down to a theme that let’s people upload videos upto 10 minutes as a sort of a resume (like Jobma.com) and also has a way for me to hyperlink the name of the applicant/freelancer to a different resume theme site altogether. Any ideas?

  72. Thanks for a very helpful post – have tried a few of these, all are very good. I like wp job manager’s simplicity and extendability.

  73. Pls I want to build a job board with wordpress that will serve two purposes at the same time:

    1. Employers can post jobs free and job seekers can upload their CV too. I intend to use JOBIFY for that. I think it serves the purpose of what I want.

    2. On the same website too, I want to have a job aggregator that searches niche jobs from multiple Job Sites and Job Boards.

How can I put all the two above on the same website using wordpress themes. Is this possible?

  74. Hello Aigars,
I have an existing recruitment website using a wordpress theme. Do you have any idea if using another theme will affect my website rank on search engines?
    Thank you.

    1. Mark,

If your content and URLs will remain the same then it won’t affect SEO. If you are going to remove some content, add new one or rewrite existing one and will remove some sections and introduce new ones then you are going to lose rankings. Design itself won’t affect SEO at all as it is just HTML, CSS and JavaScript that is not evaluated as SEO ranking factor. Content, URLs and pages are SEO ranking factors and they must remain in place or should be improved but never removed.

      1. Hi,
Thanks for your reply. In your opinion, which theme is better in terms of SEO, jobify or jobseek?

        1. Mark,

WordPress by default is SEO friendly and themes are very unlikely to break some SEO friendly patterns. Therefore you can feel free to choose theme that you like the most from design and functionality perspective. We highly recommend to use Yoast SEO (we are using it for our website) or All in One SEO plugins to get the most out of WordPress for SEO. These plugins will help to highlight the most important content and control what should and shouldn’t be indexed by Google and other search engines. Both of your mentioned themes are compatible with these SEO plugins.

Keep in mind that SEO is all about your content. If you are going to copy/paste job ads from other websites it is very unlikely that you will receive any SEO traffic. You must have unique content and as much as possible and Google will do the rest.

  75. Hi Aigars, thank you for this article! I’ve been looking around and find it hard to decide between Jobify or Jobera. I do want job postings to be displayed in the list/table format as seen in Jobify demo, and much prefer Jobera’s visual appeal when it comes to displaying jobs (they have a big picture, and states only job title). Do you know if Jobify has a variety of options when it comes to displaying jobs?

    Many thanks!

    1. Mandy,

It’s the only way how Jobify displays job ads. However, it wouldn’t be difficult for any WordPress developer to adjust theme to display jobs ads in a way Jobera does. For theme customization you can use one of the following services.

  76. What theme do you think is best for a sales professional job board catering to recruiters and principals?

    I like the idea of:

    > being able to offer a service that allows recruiters to submit jobs to more than one job board at a time (mine and others); and

    > aggregating jobs for candidates from multiple sources based on keywords and other criteria.

    > Also, I need social media profile import from Linkedin

    >and offering resume posting for candidates

    > and offering resume search for recruiters

    > monetization is absolutely necessary

    > out of the box ready – I don’t want to have to spend $1K to get it working

    Thanks so much.

    1. Jobify is the theme you are looking for. It is built on top of WP Job Manager plugins that offers flexibility via many awesome add-ons that will help with Linkedin resume import, feed import from other websites and much more. Jobify is the most flexible WordPress job board theme currently available.

  77. This is an absolutely perfect post for people looking to create or build a job board easily and quickly. thanks for posting this useful post!

  78. I’m looking for a theme or plugin that allows you to upload a lot of data i.e. resumes very quickly perhaps in .csv format. Do any of these themes offer this technology?

    1. Sherry,

You can use Jobify theme in combination with WP Job Manager, its Resume Manager add-on and WP All Import. That way you will be able to import everything in bulk such as resumes and jobs.

  79. Hi I am looking for a theme/plugin – where there is 2 sides.

1st Side – Someone/Company Posts the need for a translator at a specific time and location
2nd Side – a already registered pool of translators would show interest.

The ‘Company selects from the list which translator they want

Translator confirms (does the translation on the date)

Company confirms the job was done and gives feedback or stars (out of 5)

    This information cannot be deleted.

Behind the scene admin (myself) i can see who has used who’s service and for how many hours.

and the billing is done manually via post. (i know old fashioned but it need to be done like this)

    __________

I have seen many themes/plugins but its all about bidding, or buying credits in advance.. etc.. (for the Company or Translator)

I just want something easy to use.

Any you recommend me the most ideas theme/plugin for this.

I obviously want ti user-friendly for users and also ascetically pleasing.

    Kind Regards

    Moses

    1. Moses,

Unfortunately, there aren’t any that specific theme ever released for WordPress. You might want to hire developer to build a custom platform for you. It could be based on WordPress but it will require some unique functionality that these themes can’t offer.

  80. Which one of these themes (or a combination of 2 or more) would be more suitable for a professional job board. I mean for an recruitment agency which could receive a huge number of resumes and job posting.

    1. Jobify theme is your answer. It can handle everything you can throw at it. I have seen it being used for many recruitment agency and job board websites. It is the most versatile theme on this list.

  81. Great list, thank you! I’m just wondering if you might know of any suitable themes for photographers and potential clients to connect with one another (e.g. photographers can upload their portfolios and clients can list their assignment details)? I’ve looked through almost all the job board and directory themes and it seems that the vast majority do not really have any function to enable the service providers to upload photos or other portfolio. Thanks for your help!

    1. Ken,

You are right and there are no theme built specifically for this purpose. The best solution here would be to use some theme as foundation and hire some WordPress developer to implement functionality that you need.

  82. Hey Aigars, I have to open a job bard website. I have two questions:
    1. I already have a database of more than 70 000 CVs, can I connect it to my website? When I do some research in the site, can it go search it in my own data?
    2. Is it possible for the recruiter to download the the CV?

    Thank you for your help!

    1. Laury,

      1. It all comes down how your CVs are structured. If these are some sort of .doc,.docx,.pages or some other format like that you won’t be able to import and search those files. Well technically you could search for filename but that’s not really what you are after. For that you will need some more advanced recruitment platform.
      2. Some themes does allow to download CVs. Some examples are WorkScout and Jobify.

  83. Themes apart, plugins work just as well. Nothing beats the shortcode usability of WP Jobs Manager. Extremely flexible and probably the fastest way to quickly set up a jobs portal. Customizing it pretty easy.

  84. Hi
    how are you

I need to build a website like up work for freelancing work. what is the best choice, I need all features and options to be in the website like how many hours the employee worked as a freelancer, and how much he toke.

    1. Deames,

You should check FreelancerEngine and HireBee themes that you can see listed above that are made specially for freelance marketplaces.

  85. Mirko Peters says:

WPJobBoard (Plugin) from isn’t safe for work! It has no taxes include and no support. 199 Dollar payed for nothing !

  86. Hi guys,
I am currently volunteering for a local Film Commission, and I have been asked if could help them with a quite tough task, at least for me: Basically, they would like to add to the organization’s website, a area where local freelancers (assistant directors, screenwriters, electricians, whatever) can easily sign up and add their professional profiles, so that they can be consulted by potential employers, when needed. Ideally the database should allow people to upload a Resume, include geo-location (it is essential for the Production companies to locate people who lives close to the shooting area), and also automatically add and update the information to an excel file.
I am not sure which way should I go. Do you know any good plugin or theme to do something similar?
    Thank you in advance
    Emanuele

    1. Emanuele,

Unfortunately, you are looking for a completely custom solution that is going to be costly to build and will take forever to be built. But all projects have to start somewhere 🙂

  87. Hi,

I am looking to setup a job listing website aimed specifically at migrants coming to a country looking for work.

Alot of the jobs that would suit them might be part time / temporary positions rather than full time jobs

Aswell as the job listings the site needs to be able to support multiple languages and I see job engine has WPML ready plugin support.

Do you know what other themes would be able to offer this and might be more suited to my needs than job engine?

    Thanks

    1. Ian,

Jobify also supports WPML by default. However, WPML is so flexible that it can be used with any themes that even doesn’t natively support WPML. That’s really the best thing about this plugins.

  88. Mike Johnson says:

    Hi Aigars,

    Very insightful post!

I was curious if you had a recommendation for a medical staffing company we’ve been tasked to develop a site for? The parameters for job search would only be for one category “medical listings”.

Is this function in one of the 20 recommended above?

  89. Hi there, thanks so much for your reviews. They were very helpful.
I am looking for a template which i can use to list jobs and have candidate have their profile possibly but also have an area for listing courses as well. Would jobify work for that?

    1. Maryanne,

It depends on how you want them to be listed. If those are going to be just information pages with options to signup then Jobify will take care of it. But if you are looking for full only course management then you might want to check LearnDash or other LMS platforms for that. They can be combined with Jobify or any other theme.

  90. Hey everyone, just a quick warning…jobify theme support is very lacking, and Ive had nothing but problems with the theme. I have a site stuck on launch pad for months.. Just saying…

    1. Adam Pickering (Astoundify) says:

Hey, Ross! thanks for your message about Jobify, i’m sad to hear that you thought our support was lacking? I would love to help you if you send me a private message so we can chat about how we can get your site launched used our Jobify theme.

We truly care about our customers. You can contact me via the following form: https://astoundify.com/customer-feedback/

I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

    2. AliceArifova says:

yes i was buy this theme its support team is very lazy now i am going to buy job career theme its rating is so good 4.73/5 on themeforest and mostly 5 stars rating is on good support,

  91. Great article summary – have a couple of further questions:

    1. After registering on the demo sites, each of the demos when authenticated appears to show the wordpress ‘logged in’ user bar at the top. Is this what the PAID version looks like and if so, how can it be hidden as it looks very unprofessional!

2 Do you have any opinion on ‘performance’ for Job Search area – e.g are some better than others and is there performance tuning if the DB gets very large?

    Many thanks

    1. Rob,

      1. WordPress default toolbar is part of WordPress core functionality and is not controlled by themes. You can enable/disable it anytime using “Show Toolbar when viewing site” checkbox in profile or disable it globally.

      2. Performance is very little affected by themes. 90% of performance comes from your hosting provider and your own or hosting provider WordPress specific setup. Which means that hosting is very important. If you care about performance never look for shared hosting such as Bluehost, Godaddy, Hostgator or others. You will share the same server with around 100,000 other websites and that’s insane. Instead go with WordPress managed hosting such as one offered by WP Engine, Pagely, Kinsta and others.

      1. Very true thanks Aigars.

I have spent a weekend purchasing, setting up and customising Jobseek after evaluating all the above, I was 90% there but missed a few key things out in my pre-purchase evaluation: Candidate Dashboard – which I assumed would have some basic application tracking functionality so that Candidates that create a load of Resumes and apply to the jobs posted with them would be able to track their job status, remove failed applications and so on, but alas I don’t think it has anything.

It’s a shame, as the Theme has nearly everything else except that.

A lesson to those who are thinking about buying themes that use plugins, ensure you do a full evaluation on every single MVP feature or you may find yourself up against a wall…

  92. I am in process of building an online platform where film companies can book directors, producers, etc etc.

We are looking for the following features:
    – booking + calendar + categories : these are standard features that are covered by many wordpress booking plugins
    – invite 5 professionals with best rating: this is a more unique feature. The highest ranked 5 professionals get an invation email, can Accept/Reject and indicate price. The company can only after a professional who has accepted see the profile of the professional, and now finally book the professional.

Is there a system that such functionalities?

    Complication of our system:
    – 5 invitations + accepting process
    – most projects are for a couple of weeks or months (more difficult than hiring e.g. a mechanic to come to your place on a specific day)

  93. I was going through some plugins on wordpress then i decided to try analytics stats counter statistics. It is simple and easy to use.

  94. Regina Moore says:

Could anyone please help me out with my new business. I’m about to purchase a website from HugeDomains which i do not know if it’s the right thing to do because of my lack of computer skills. I would like to know if any of you can help me with the process of my recruitment so i can pay cash for it instead of paying to an unknown person Online. I have a new business i want to start because i was born into the old fashioned business and recruitment style. I just need an elevation process and more nowadays if you understand me. Please reply by me email if you could be an angel.

    1. Regina,

Unfortunately, we don’t do custom development work and we are specialized in making WordPress themes.
From HugeDomains you will be able to buy only domain and domain name only. It will give your website a name but you still need hosting, theme, plugins and put everything together. We have created this detailed guide to help you get started with your first website.

  95. Rafaquat Ali says:

well i have seen all job board theme but i am little confuse regarding selection. i like jobcareer theme because of its look design and feature but still no idea please can anyone recommend me which theme is best for job board. please share your experience

    1. Rafaquat,

If there would be just one best WordPress job board theme then there wouldn’t be a list to make and there would be listed only one theme. This is never the case and that’s now how it works. Therefore we have gathered a large list of the best themes out there, so you can choose one you like the most.

  96. Cathal Hanratty says:

    Hi,
Does any of these jobboards push jobs out to the main jobboards like indeed.com.
    Thanks
    Cathal

    1. Cathal,

None of themes does that by default. I would recommend to research if there are some plugins or services that could help you.

  97. Hi Aigars

    Great resource, thanks very much!

I’m building a website for a premium childcare recruitment agency with fairly basic recruitment functionality; account for candidates but no account for clients (parents), viewing of job listings restricted by candidate login

….There is however an emphasis on premium design. Given that I’m going to use WP Job Manager for the recruitment features, is there an advantage to me using a dedicated Job Board theme such as Jobify rather than using a non-job board theme? If so, how can the advantage of combining WP Job Manger with a job board theme be best explained?

    Thanks in advance

    Ali

  98. Theme JobCareer was disappointing. The plugin demands an upload_max of up 256. Impossible on my website. I commonly use 32 MB. And it was not stated in the description before the purchase. I bought many plugins till now and I never had this problem. Wasted money for me.
Maybe for you works – Not for me.

    Best regards,
    Paul

    1. Paul,

256MB is not a lot these days as we have set 2GB upload limit for our website. Also you can avoid upload limit without increasing max_upload by transferring files via FTP or via your hosting’s control panel. It is really a minor problem that shouldn’t drive you away from theme you have already purchased.

  99. Hi all,

I’m looking to build a website for short term contract work via a wordpress theme and some plugins.

A few key features I would like the site to have include:

    1. Jobseekers can create a profile and upload documents. All information is saved in their profile and they can apply to jobs at the click of a button

    2. Jobseeker can create a save search and get email alerts for new jobs

    2. (Optional) job poster can be granted permission to browse candidates (but their profile is semi hidden)

    4. (Optional) It would be great if the job seeker could see all the contract job opportunities in a calendar layout. Could using a plugin such as calendarize.it work? I’m happy enough to update the calendar manually

Can you or anyone recommend a template and plugins that I could use to build such a website?

    Thanks for you time,

    Emily

  100. Hi Aigars.

First at all, my English is not perfect! I´m an Argentinian guy!!! 😀

I’m working on a new website where the main goal is that people can do evaluation about companies. I´m not interested on a jobs website.

The main features will be adding a new company (every user might add a new one), send a testimonial and set a ranking with stars.

Could you recomend me a plugin or a group of plugin?

By the way, due to this is a non-profit website I would like to use a free plugin.

    Thanks in advance!!!
    Hernan.

Please I’ve resolved the issue about the WP Resume manager. Thanks

      1. For support related questions please contact plugin developer directly as we are not related to them. We just share information about their plugin on our blog.

  102. I am using osclass theme any one please share user management plugins.

  103. Hey Aigers this is a brilliant article! Just what I’ve been looking for as I’m about to start work on a recruitment website for a client. Still finding it hard to narrow down my theme choice though. Jobify looks great, but I need to be able to have salary range as a search filter. I can’t see this on any of the demos. Do you know if this is possible using any of the WP Job Manager driven themes? WorkScout has this feature, but I’m guessing Jobify is the more popular theme. Which would you recommend of the two?

    Thanks.

    1. Darren,

You can add custom filters for almost all above listed themes. This also includes salary range as a filter.

  105. Hi Aigars,

Thank you for this useful post. I’m running a jobboard with Jobroller but I’m not completely satisfy with it. I’m looking for a new theme with the following features :
    – Be able to display jobs offers directly on the home page
    – Can propose free or/and paid plan
    – Company pages
    – Resume for job seekers
    – Candidates can apply directly on the website and possibly with Linkedin
    – Payment system (I’m looking for one which generates invoices but I don’t know if it’s exists…)
    – Application alerts and follow-up

I like Jobstack (from Job career) design and functionnalities but I don’t know if it’s a good choice. My other option is Jobify extended but I don’t know if I can manage the home page to disply jobs directly on this page.
Do you have an advice ? I’m looking for a tool which can be run for long term so up to date.

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Celine,

I think that Jobify, WorkScout or JobCareer will get the job done for you. Feel free to choose the one you like the most.

  106. Of all the above if there are job boards that use standard
wordpress posts. For example we post job then it will go to the post standard wp

    1. Loker,

All themes and plugins use Custom Post Types. Technically they are the same as regular posts but they won’t show up in blog just like other posts unless you modify your blog page to take custom posts as well.

  107. I have chosen one of your templates and like to purchase but would like to know that do you provide full customization and installation as well or no, and I would be pleased to receive further information to my email as soon as possible.

    1. Ghafar,

Customization and installation and not part of your purhcase and they are separate services. However, themes does come with extensive documentation that will help you to setup and customize theme on your own.

  108. Great advice here, as someone at the beginning of the journey the step by step guide is fantastic.

  109. Hi,
thanks for the information you are sharing.

I am considering a theme for a freelance hostess/models agency and I am currently looking for a suitable theme.

The process would be: employers (my customers) post a job offer on the website. Freelancers apply according to their availability and then customers hire the best candidate.

This is not just a job board website, but more of an agency website. We will handle job contracts and everything, so only the candidates choice is up to the customer.

On the homepage the focus should be on hostess/model pics and on customers(employers), not on job offers which I would like to be seen only by logged in users.

The theme I am looking for should provide the following features:

1- employers should be able to contact freelancers from their profile. A chat would be even better, but the contact button option is a must.
2- hostess and models should be able to add pics (at least 6/7) to their profile. I have not run through a single theme which offers this possibility, or at least, not in the demo version. The main profile pics are way too small and not ideal for my purpose…is there a theme that allows me to adapt image boxes to suit my needs without adding extra code or customization?
3- I need to be able to let employers search potential freelancer hostess/model filtering by age, cities, height, size, spoken languages and so on…so powerful filters are on top of my list
4- I prefer freelancers not to bid for a job, but instead I’d like to let employers decide an hourly or daily pay for a particular job and then it will be up to the freelancer to accept or refuse the offer. Many themes are based on bidding for jobs, I ‘d rather disregard this feature, so I am looking for a theme which allows me to hide this feature or which does not have it.
5- I’d prefer not to use paid plans for employers. I do not want to charge them anything when they post a job research. They will be charged a standard fee later on when they confirm and buy the service.
8- employers profiles should not be publicy visible so that noone can see their private information.
9- same for job offers. I would like them to be visible only to logged in freelancers and not to everyone.
10- the theme should allow our team to control and approve freelancers profile before they are published in order to avoid bad experiences to customers. The same goes for job offers. Our team should be able to delete unappropriate or vulgar job offers.
9- the theme should be seo oriented, well coded, fast and secure. I am looking for the best seo theme out there, becuase I know that too many well reviewed themes are just code-bloated.
10- compatible with visual composer, wpml, yoast plugin
11- a landing page template would be appreciated.

I am currently considering the freelance engine theme, but after reading your useful article I can’t make up my mind about which theme would be the most suitable for my project.

I am looking forward to your reply,

    Thank you in advance,

    manuela

    1. Manuela,

Themes are all about design and very little about specific functionality. In your case I would recommend to choose a theme you like from ones listed above and hire a developer to create your mentioned functionality on top of that. Themes does provide very little CMS style functionality and it all comes down to WordPress itself and plugins but even in that case there aren’t any that would work for you and you will need to hire a developer.

Thanks for sharing this awesome Job board WordPress themes collection. This blog is very helpful and useful for WordPress beginners.

    Keep Updating!!!

  111. Hi there, love looking at this to give me inspiration. My head is between ‘Jobify’ and ‘Jobcareer’. I am looking to build a site for the health sector, something clean and relatively easy to use. I’m not that up on WordPress but I have been pushing through some Lynda.com. I just want people to be able to post jobs for a fee and some kind of subscription thing going, Which one would you recommend, please?

    Thanks

  112. Friend help me
I am creating a freelance services market where a monetization has occurred recurring signature of professional freelancer. What is the best theme in this case?

    1. Almir,

In your case the best themes are going to be HireBee or FreelancerEngine as both does the same job.

  113. We hire truck drivers for over 40 companies in all of the lower 48 United States. We currently are using a WP based job board. However, just getting underway with the job postings and on our first single nationwide job, we have realized just how slow of a process it is to list a job in nearly 400 cities nationwide. *These 400 cities are the minimum required to cover the entire footprint of our nation. We are in need of a tool that will allow us to post a single job in multiple cities to help speed up our posting process. PLEASE HELP!

    1. Billy,

Unfortunately, themes are not meant for that. You need to either look up some plugins are hire a developer to create a custom solution.

  114. Mandy Jones says:

    Dear Aigars,
Thank you for your answer in advance.

My niche Job Board needs to have the following functionality:

    A. Candidates:
    1. Tools to create nice CV’s and profiles for employers to view (Jobcareer has a lovely interface for this)
    2. Rate companies (could not find any plugin on theme)
    3. His dashboard will have jobs he applied for and the status (not sure if Jobcareer can do this)
    4. Get mails of new matching jobs (Jobcareer)

    B. Employers:
    1. Set up filters when posting job to weed out non qualifying candidates
    2. Important to give the employer the ability to rate candidates
    3. Change candidate statuses for a job, regret (then sends template email), save for future jobs, shortlist, organise interview

    D. Can one combine two themes for their functionality?
    E. Is it relatively easy for a programmer to add functions to a theme?

  115. Hi. We are currently use thE OneEngine theme and we are rather unhappy with it.On top of that it seems that it has a huge demand on server resources so eventhough our site ‘gets’ 90+ points of the googlespeed page test, it takes 89 seconds to load.
We have plenty of CVs that we keep offline (so we do not want a CV repository function), so our focus is on attracting clients. We als have a active blog and we want to post some jobs where the candidate can click and apply via their own email.

I read all of the above… Can you -please- recommend a solution?
Btw, we live/ are located in West Africa and I can’t really say that we are extremely impressed with teh quality of wordpress developers we have used so far- so we want to develop our own solution on a theme or plugin.

    Thank you,

    Mark

    1. Mark,

Make sure to switch to a new hosting provider as soon as possible. We highly recommend WP Engine or Kinsta.com. And as you see that Google PageSpeed Insights are useless when it comes to an actual website performance.

  116. Hi and thanks for a great post. I am trying to set up a volunteering website which allows hosts to list jobs and allows volunteers to upload profiles.
My intention is to monetize the site by restricting job seekers access to the most recent jobs unless they pay a small yearly membership fee. (freemium model).(similar to spareroom.co.uk but for jobs)
I already have a database of several thousand subscribers from a previous student travel site (40,000) so the system will need to be able to cope with it.

Any suggestions which theme / plugin would be suitable ?

    Thanks

    Jeff

  117. Hi Aigas,

Thank you for your comprehensive list. I was hoping that you would be able to help me decide upon a WP Theme or Plugin that fits my specific requirements:

    – I am aiming to keep a degree of separation between the employer and the worker.
    – Employers use the website to post specific one-off jobs for casual workers. These jobs are only seen by me on the back-end of the portal. The website is only used to submit the job requirements and details.
    – Workers register on the website. Registered workers are not visible by employers or other workers.
    – I then send the job posting (without any reference to the employer or specific job details) to my database of casual workers who have registered on my site. (This can either be through the theme/plugin or alternatively Mailchimp if it’s too complicated)
    – Casual workers respond with their interest in the job, with the job then allocated on a first-come first-serve basis alongside their assigned ratings from previous jobs.

Do you have any recommendations on the best set-up to use (theme and/or plugin)?

    Thanks!

  118. christina teo says:

Hi Aigars, thanks for the generous share.
I like the profile of InJob but I see that your highest preference is Jobify. Are there other plugins that will get me the profile in the event I go with Jobify
I also one of the themes which allows specifying rate ranges – min/hour, max/hour Again if I dont choose that theme, can I easily get an editor to create the field?
Last but not least, my marketplace is for freelancers. Phase 1 I dont need the business centre for freelancers but I would like to in the 2nd phase where there freelancer can see all his transactions history, can issue invoice etc. Would I be able to use Jobify and buy plugins to do this or I must use a freelancer marketplace type of theme if I intend to provide this?
Is freelancer engine the only theme where escrow can be held or other themes support such plugins too?

I dont see ratings (stars) in any of the themes. Am I right to assume there are plugins that provide that? Thank you.

    1. In different use cases there are different themes that works better. In your case it is going to be difficult to modify Jobify theme to work as a marketplace. Of course it is possible if you have a developer on your team or you code yourself but otherwise I would recommend to go with InJob theme or other marketplace style theme. It will save you a lot of time, money and nerves 🙂

      1. CHRISTINa teo says:

HI Aigars, thank you for such quick response.
When you say marketplace, I suppose freelancer engine would fit into that right? I looked at it again today and it seems to do what I want. Any negatives about freelancer engine? If I use freelancer engine it means I will not be using WP Job Manager or it is a combo of the 2?
Do you know if freelancer engine also allows us to approve and edit the freelancer profile before it gets published and if I can lock some features (say employer cant view freelancer profile until we match), do i buy the restrict content pro just as you have recommended for regular job board themes?
        Thank you again.

  119. Hi Aigars,

Thank you for this useful post which you have updated for 2017 it seems. I’m looking for a jobboard theme for a niche jobboard (digital marketing jobs) with the following features :
    – Be able to display jobs offers directly on the home page
    – Can propose free or/and paid plan and coupons
    – Company pages
    – Resume for job seekers
    – Candidates can apply directly on the website and possibly with LinkedIn.
    – ((optional) Ability to login with Facebook
    – Payment system (I’m looking for one which generates invoices but I don’t know if it’s exists…)
    – Application alerts and follow-up

Do you have an advice ? I’m looking for a tool which can be run for long term so up to date.

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Jobseek, Jobify or any other themes that is based on WP Job Manager plugins will do the trick. You will need multiple extensions for it but it is still going to be much cheaper than coding a site from scratch.

  120. Hi Aigars

Thanks for all your input here – really thorough and heuristic.

I am trying to build a membership job listing for job-seekers . The idea is – these are highly filtered, niche jobs that I will supply and job-seekers will have to pay to see either all, or more premium jobs. Cost is a component for me, as this is a test somewhat, but if it works, I will need to be ready and happy to run with this till the next opportunity for improvement/upgrade. Above this – if it then becomes appealing enough to the niche employers one day – they too should be able to supply jobs at their own discretion, and under their own paid membership schemes- but this is a while away.

I also need to ensure that jobs can be searched for and filtered in great accurate detail, and in addition to this, I would also like to add additional, non standard filter elements. Uploading content in csv or excel format should be very easy for multiple jobs, as automatic as possible – I would like to avoid uploading items one by one and if this is the case, for something more aesthetic – I would need to be able to easily delete that functionality – efficiency and simplicity are really key for me.

The end point for job-seekers is to be redirected to the company’s webpage and to then apply from there (as it stands). So the platform will have to facilitate this and I guess I’d like to use a platform that makes it easy to remove such features. It would be nice I suppose if they could shortlist, or get email reminders… and some other perks …

So my question to you is – would Jobify + Restrict Content be the best holistic option?

    Thank you in advance!
    Tali

  121. Syed Raza Ali says:

Any of above themes support import future ? for example if i want to start running job website where people can find jobs, but all jobs will be imported from external websites such as indeed, and other places? Would any solution be appricaited?

  122. Apply Online WordPress plugin would be a good addition to the Job Board plugins lists above.

    1. Farhan,

It still has a long way to get there to get listed. it is a fair plugin but nowhere near something we might be listing here as the best examples.

  123. anyone know if some and which enables the employer to actually PAY the employee? looking to outsource some web work and trying to make it easy for people so jump in!

    1. Themes are for design. Plugins are for functionality. Themes such as FreelancerEngine and HireBee does allow to create such a themes but you will need additional plugins/add-ons for payments.

  124. Prabhu Ganesh says:

    hi
this is prabhu and i startd using using wordpress. i really worth working with wordpress. there are lot of wordpress themes and plugins available premium as well as free. this article really helped me to know the best wordpress plugins and themes.
    thanku

  125. Hi !

Thank you for this great article. I’m currently using Jobroller and I plan to develop my jobboard (with paid listing). I don’t know how this theme is reliable and if I can set up a real business based on Jobroller or if it’s best to choose a more popular jobboard like Jobify ? Any opinion on that ?
    Thanks

    1. Selina,

Jobroller is perfectly reliable but its feature set is far behind Jobify and other themes. Jobroller is the right choice if you are looking for simplicity but it doesn’t mean you can’t build a real business based on it.

  126. I am looking for something I’m not sure exists, and was hoping you could tell me which of these would best fit the criteria given you research. I would be extremely appreciative for any insight you can offer.

So, consider a job board for a specific industry where location is not a consideration (constantly traveling work), all the candidates are contractors, and they are contracted for multiple months at a time. The candidates would need a 2 year calendar where they can block off dates already booked by clicking a start date and end date and maybe entering a title or description… something simple for them to manage. The prospective clients can search by job category, experience, availability (against the booked calendars of all candidates), and a few other fields. The clients would also be able to build out contractor jobs needed for a project such that the candidates can inquire about them. I would also like the clients to be able to mark candidates as favorites so they build a favorites list by category for future reference. Does something like this exist … particularly with an availability calendar?

  127. I need your help.
I’m looking for a job board template that can do the following tasks:
    1. Register jobseekers. (Password access)
    2. Register employers. (Password access)
    3. jobseekers can not view employers or others jobseekers profile.
    4. Employers can not view jobseekers profile without authorization granted by unique password.
    5. Employers can visualize jobseekers at 3 different levels.
    5.1. levels
5.1.1. View only work condensed experience and timeline of all jobseekers in a single form
    5.1.2. View schooling (by pop-up?)
5.1.3. View full CV full candidate’s personal data granted by unique password

Which template can better fulfill my request?

    1. There aren’t any themes that does exactly that. Therefore, I would recommend to use any of above listed themes since they are the best in the market and build from there.

  128. Hi Aigars, thanks for your time and the generous share.
Do You know any plugins that could help me to solve even partially my issues? Actually I chose workscout as theme. Wrong shot?

    Thank You very much!

    1. I would recommend any theme with WP Job Manager plugin integration. It has loads of add-ons that you can use to extend theme functionality. That’s the furthest you will get on your own by not needing a developer.

  129. I was using very bad theme on my company career site Your article about themes and plugin is really helpful i got a new theme from your post for my company career website

  130. Aravind Ajith says:

You have an excellent list of job board plugins and themes. We had tried most of the plugins listed in the article in the hope that they would work well as a job listing plugin for a single company as well. However, none of them works well as a job listing plugin for a corporate site or one single company. This new plugin – ‘WP Job Openings’ solves that issue.
It comes with a list of really powerful features and very easy to manage job listings and applications.

    1. Not the best way to plug your plugin. It would have been much easier to just say that you built one and let users check it instead of acting like you found it by accident. Sneaky methods are not cool, just be straightforward instead.

  131. I am looking for a great theme for my new job portal … someone will suggest me which theme do I buy?

    1. Sagar,

Jobify or Jobseek are my favorite ones and also the best selling ones.

  132. Can i be able to use wordpress template for blogger, I have a blog on blogspot but i want to change theme to wordpress theme what can i do. Also i want to buy one of the job board template

    1. Blogspot themes are for Blogspot and WordPress themes are for WordPress. They are completely different and can’t be easily converted from one to another. It is possible but without a help from a developer there is no way around it.

  133. Hi Aigars
Beside Nokri that has mobile app, which other theme comes with mobile app?
    TIA

    1. Will,

That’s the only one but I wouldn’t count on those apps too much. They are not that well maintained and you will have to take care of all the updates and support for the app. Don’t think it is really worth it.

  134. Ali Al Lawati says:

I have tried a few themes from the list and I can say that Careerfy simply because the developers are responsive to customers’ suggestions for improvement.

On the other hand if you want to know what the word “sucks” literally and practically means try Nokri! It’s like buying a car that has no body, chassis, engine, transmission, interior whatsoever but they still call it a car and more importantly they charge you for servicing it or, better said, not servicing it!

  135. I have a question. I really like Jobify. I am trying to create a niche site with just paid job listings and a blog/industry info. Listings will be like LinkedIn and not hold or store ACTUAL resumes. Simply they can view and apply. Would also like them to be able to apply using SimplyHired or LinkedIn or upload a resume. If there could be prequal questions that would be a bonus.

What is the best way of doing that?

    THANKS!

    1. You can easily get that done using Jobify. Not sure about SimplyHired but it does have support for LinkedIn.

  136. Hi there, I wonder if you could help me. I am looking for a Job Board plugin for our WordPress site that allows recurring payments. ie we would like employers to have the option to sign up for a monthly package/membership that can be automatically renewed. Do you know if this is possible with any of the plugins (using add-ons)? Or could it be done with the combination of WooCommerce and use the Paypal recurring payments facility. Thanks in advance. Claire

    1. There aren’t many good job board plugins to start with but even ones that we can recommend such as WP Job Manager resides to WooCommerce for payment processing like you can see here. So your idea about doing everything with WooCommerce and its subscriptions might be a very good option to explore.

  137. Hi, Aigars!

What you can say about the Jobhunt template? At first glance, not bad.

I’m creating a job aggregator. I choose between Jobhunt, Jobify and Job Career. The template requirements are as follows:

    1. Filter operation via GET requests for the ability to create landing pages.
    2. Detailed filter for job listings.
    3. Optimized PageSpeed.
    4. Autofill when entering a city.
    5. Auto-detect the city.
    6. Structured data for Google Jobs.

Which one do you think is more suitable for my requirements?

    1. Jobify and Jobhunt use the same WP Job Manager plugin. Meaning that they are almost the same when it comes to functionality. The only difference is in their design. So, I would recommend choosing the one that you like from a design perspective.

  138. Joseph Robnett says:

We are updating our websites. We are a nonprofit seeking opportunities for people with higher barriers to employment (people in poverty, ex-felons, etc..). I want to add a plugin (or two) that will allow us the capability for candidates to upload resumes and the resumes to auto-populate fields (skills & experience) to a place that we can then download into Salesforce so we can perform searches when opportunities arise. Are there plugins that can accomplish this?

    1. None of the plugins will do that automatically. Even a custom-built solution is not realistic unless all resumes are done using the same template.
You could import info from LinkedIn or some other site where info is structured the same way all the time but resumes are unique and that’s going to cause a lot of problems.

  139. I changed from Jobify to Careerfy simply because the former requires extra plugins to function properly while the later can be used as it’s. The only drawback in Careerfy is that it affect the speed of your website and you need to invest in a decent plugin to offset that.

  140. Ali Al Lawati says:

I tried Jobify and paid for all the WP Job Manager add-ons but I had lots of bugs here and there. Then I tried Careerfy and actually bought 3 licences so far as it doesn’t require any additional involvement but I still feel it cannot operate without human intervention every now and then.

I had to publish a phone number and an email address and clearly stated that the phone number and the email are for employers who wish to inquire about our services but jobseekers insist on calling us to tell us they “need a job” and bombarding our email with their resumes. When directing them to the job board they claim it’s hard to use.

I really feel frustrated as these calls and emails are depriving my websites from a sizable traffic.

    Any suggestions?

    1. Hey Ali,

I have been running job boards for over a decade and unfortunately there is no way to avoid emails and phone calls from jobseekers if you publish an email or a phone number on your website. Therefore, just don’t do it. Look at the examples of other large job boards like Monster or other that doesn’t even have a contact form, let alone a phone number on their website. Phone number shouldn’t be accessible for majority of the companies as well unless they have an assigned account manager to them and they are very valuable to you.
