Whitespace is a website template for business consultants, strategy studios and small digital agencies, built on Bootstrap 5. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready. There are seven pages: home, about, work, pricing, journal, article page and contact.
The home page has a hero, eight services, a counter band with a parallax photo, recent projects, a client testimonial slider, the latest journal articles, four monthly pricing packages and partner logos. The inner pages add the team, a project grid, a journal with categories, popular articles, a tag cloud and search, a case-study article with the author, comments and a comment form, and a contact page with contact details, a contact form and a map that loads on click. Whitespace gives you a ready-made site for a consulting or strategy studio.
What’s new in 3.0
Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.1.0 and jQuery), compiled from Sass with the design’s original proportions, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the testimonial slider, Jarallax replaces Stellar on the counter band, and small built-in modules handle the scroll reveals and the counters; unused plugins such as Magnific Popup, AOS and Scrollax are gone. Icons are Lucide SVGs, and the social logos are a three-logo Font Awesome subset (the Twitter bird is now the X logo). npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
Lighter pages: the home page went from 15.9 MB and 93 requests to 1.33 MB and 39 requests, and all seven pages together from 33.7 MB and 374 requests to 6.5 MB and 185 requests. The hero no longer streams a third-party video background; it shows the photo the video played over. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, and the full-screen loading screen that hid each page until it had loaded is gone. The download went from 6.6 MB to 4.7 MB.
No third-party requests: Poppins is self-hosted and the old icon fonts are replaced by inline SVG icons and the small social-logo subset, so the pages load nothing from outside hosts (before, they loaded from eleven). The contact page map is an OpenStreetMap map, with no API key needed, that loads only when a visitor clicks “Show map”, and an analytics snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID.
Working forms: the contact form and the article comment form send through includes/send-email.php and includes/comment.php (PHP on your host), with validation, a spam trap and the result shown on the page, and the journal search opens the journal page. Before, the forms had no field names and posted nowhere.
Accessibility: a skip link, a main landmark and one h1 per page, labelled form fields, names on icon-only links, a keyboard-operable menu button, visible focus rings, reduced-motion support and WCAG AA text contrast. Yellow text on white uses a darker gold, the buttons and the testimonial band have dark text on the yellow, meta and pricing text are darker greys, and the hero, page headers and project captions have a shade behind their text.
Fixed: the comment counts on the journal cards were white on white and the testimonial band’s heading was yellow on yellow, and both are readable now; the testimonial slider dots were small white dots on the yellow band, and they are now dark dots with 44 px touch targets; the journal and project grids had pagination to pages that did not exist, which is removed, and footer links, project tiles, post titles, tags, categories and partner logos that pointed nowhere now open real pages; and typos such as “Usefull Links” are corrected.
Demo content: consulting-studio copy in place of placeholder text, eight services, six named projects, five client testimonials with their own portraits, an eight-person team, four monthly packages, six journal posts and a full case-study article, plus fictional partner wordmarks, address and contact details. Photos with brand logos or company branding were replaced or retouched.
