Description

Watch is a one-product landing page template for a smartwatch or another wearable, built on Bootstrap 5. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready. There are three pages: home, a generic inner page and an elements page.

The home page opens with a full-screen hero that shows the watch on a blue gradient, followed by an about section with a video that plays in a dialog, four features, six reasons to choose the watch, the four models with their prices and Pre Order links, customer reviews, an FAQ accordion and a newsletter sign-up in the footer. The generic page shows the models with long-form text, and the elements page collects typography, buttons, lists, a table with progress bars, an image gallery with a lightbox, form controls and a sample form. Watch gives you a ready-made page to present and pre-sell one product.

What’s new in 3.0

  • Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used a Bootstrap 4.0 beta and jQuery), compiled from Sass with the template’s Bootstrap 4 proportions, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. PhotoSwipe 5.4.4 replaces Magnific Popup in the elements gallery, a native dialog plays the about video, the browser’s own select replaces Nice Select, CSS submenus that also open on keyboard focus replace Superfish, and a slide-in panel replaces the cloned mobile menu. Owl Carousel, CounterUp, Waypoints and the other plugins that loaded on every page without being used are gone. Icons are Lucide SVGs, and the social logos are a small Font Awesome subset (the Twitter bird is now the X logo). npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
  • Lighter pages: the home page went from 2.2 MB and 44 requests to 509 KB and 22 requests, and the download from 7.17 MB to 1.73 MB. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG or PNG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading below the first screen, the hero image is preloaded, and 24 unused images are gone.
  • No third-party requests: Poppins is self-hosted, the about video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player only after a click, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. Before, every page loaded scripts from cdnjs, its web font from Google Fonts and the Google Maps script, although no page had a map.
  • Working forms: the footer newsletter and the elements-page sample form send through php/subscribe.php and php/send-email.php (PHP on your host), with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message, and the mailer keeps visitor input out of the mail headers. Before, the newsletter posted to an outside mailing list and the sample form had no action or send button.
  • Accessibility: a skip link and a main landmark on every page, one h1 per page with headings in order (the home page had eight), a named menu button, a slide-in menu that keeps keyboard focus inside and closes with Esc, submenus that open from the keyboard, names on icon-only links, labelled form fields, visible focus rings, reduced-motion support and WCAG AA text contrast. The brand gradient now ends in a deeper blue, so the white text on the hero, menu, buttons and FAQ headers reads at 5.3:1 (it was 1.5:1 on the light-cyan end), and the body and footer greys are darker.
  • Fixed: the favicon links and two images on the generic page pointed at missing files, and every link now goes to a real target, where the buttons and social icons pointed nowhere: the buttons scroll to the models or features, each Pre Order link starts an email naming its model, and the social icons link to the networks. The page language, duplicate ids and the sample form’s repeated fields are corrected too.
  • Demo content for one fictional smartwatch: four models with their own names and prices (£199 to £329), on-topic headings, features, FAQ and reviews in place of filler text left over from other templates, and a stock fitness clip for the video. The product photos now show unbranded smartwatches from Unsplash in the same places and framing, and a few other photos are replaced with Unsplash photos.
