Convention is a website template for conferences, summits, meetups and developer events, built on Bootstrap 5. It opens with a full-height hero over a conference photo, the event dates and venue, and a countdown to the opening day. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready. There are eight pages: home, about, pricing, schedule, speakers, blog, a single blog post and contact.

The home page has an about block with a counter badge, a counters band, a four-day schedule in tabs, speaker cards with social links, a photo gallery that opens in a lightbox, a testimonials slider and the latest blog posts. Every page ends with a ticket booking form. You will also find a ticket pricing page, a blog with sidebar search and tags, a blog post with comments and a comment form, and a contact page with a working contact form and a map that loads on click.

What’s new in 3.0

• Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.5.2 and jQuery), compiled from Sass with the Bootstrap 4 proportions the design was drawn with, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the testimonials, PhotoSwipe 5 replaces Magnific Popup on the gallery, and small built-in modules replace Waypoints, animateNumber and animate.css. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
• The countdown now counts to the next edition and moves on a year once the date is near, so it never shows zeros or negative numbers, and the event year on the pages follows it.
• Lighter pages: all nine pages together went from 21.2 MB and 352 requests to 11.7 MB and 180 requests, and the home page from 4.5 MB to 2.7 MB. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, the hero has a portrait crop for phones and is preloaded, and the full-page preloader is gone.
• No third-party requests: Barlow and Barlow Condensed are self-hosted, the icon fonts are replaced by Lucide SVG icons and a small social-logo subset, and the contact map is an OpenStreetMap map (no API key needed) that loads only when a visitor clicks it.
• Working forms: the ticket form on every page, the contact form and the comment form send email through included PHP handlers, with labelled fields, validation and success and error messages; the blog search shows matching posts.
• Accessibility: a skip link, a main landmark, labelled links and form fields, visible keyboard focus and text contrast that meets WCAG AA (a deeper magenta for buttons and links, darker body text, scrims under text on photos).
• New, sharper photos throughout, fictional speakers, talks and venue details, and fixes such as gallery tiles that all opened the same photo and footer links that went nowhere.
