Charitee is a template for charities, foundations and non-profit organisations, built on Bootstrap 5. It has eight pages: home, who we are, programs, about, blog, a single blog post, contact and an elements page.
The home page opens with a full-width hero and covers an upcoming program, the organisation’s story, ongoing programs with their goals and amounts raised, three ways you help, a latest blog carousel and a map. The programs page lists four programs with donate buttons, the blog has categories, tags, search and a comment form, and the contact page has a working contact form and a map that loads on click.
What’s new in 3.0
Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used a Bootstrap 5 beta and jQuery) and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper replaces Slick on the blog carousel, PhotoSwipe replaces Magnific Popup, and Lucide SVG icons replace the icon fonts.
Lighter pages: all eight pages together went from 15.5 MB and 587 requests to 6.0 MB and 186 requests. Photos have AVIF versions with JPEG fallbacks, and the hero and page banner stay sharp on Retina and 4K screens.
No third-party requests: the Jost and Rubik fonts are self-hosted, and the maps are OpenStreetMap maps that load only when a visitor clicks them.
Working forms: the contact, newsletter and blog comment forms post to included PHP handlers with validation and sending, error and success messages, and the blog search lists the matching posts.
Accessibility: a skip link, labelled controls, a keyboard-friendly menu, visible focus and text contrast of at least 4.5:1, with deeper shades of the teal and orange for buttons and small text.
Fixes and demo content: distinct programs, posts and comments instead of repeated placeholder cards, buttons and footer links that lead to their pages, and a page title, description and structured data on every page.
