Description

Car Rental is a website template for car rental and car hire businesses, built on Bootstrap 5, and it also suits taxi firms and other vehicle booking services. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready, and the header turns solid as you scroll. There are nine pages: home, about, cars, services, team, blog, blog post, contact and elements.

The home page has a full-screen hero with a booking form, services, an about section, a car slider with prices and specs, counters, testimonials, a call to action and the latest blog posts. The inner pages add a cars page with each car class’s daily price, seats, doors, air conditioning and transmission, a services page, a team page with social links, a blog with a sidebar (search, author, categories, recent posts, archive and tags), a blog post with comments and a comment form, a contact page with the address, phone, email, a working contact form and a map that loads on click, and an elements page with typography, buttons, tables, form controls and a gallery. Each car’s “Book This Car Now” button opens the booking form with that car class selected. Car Rental gives you a ready-made site to present your cars and prices and to take bookings.

What’s new in 3.0

  • Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used a Bootstrap 4.0 beta and jQuery 2.2.4), compiled from Sass together with the theme and the Bootstrap 4 proportions the design was drawn with, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the car slider, PhotoSwipe replaces Magnific Popup on the elements gallery, a small counter module replaces CounterUp and Waypoints, the browser’s own select and date fields replace Nice Select and the jQuery UI date picker, CSS submenus replace Superfish, a slide-in panel replaces the cloned mobile menu, and the unused easing, sticky, parallax, slick and animate.css files are gone. Lucide SVG icons and a 1.3 KB social-logo subset replace Linearicons and Font Awesome 4.7 (the Twitter bird is now the X logo). npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
  • Lighter pages: the home page went from 3.5 MB and 47 requests to 633 KB and 24 requests, and the contact page from 3.0 MB and 48 requests to 338 KB and 11 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG or PNG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading below the first screen, the hero photo is preloaded and went from 869 KB to 343 KB (56 KB as AVIF), and Swiper and PhotoSwipe load only on the pages that use them. The download is now 2.9 MB (it was 6.1 MB).
  • No third-party requests: Poppins is self-hosted, the contact page map is an OpenStreetMap map that loads only when a visitor clicks “Show map”, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. Before, every page loaded its web fonts from Google Fonts, the Google Maps script, Popper from cdnjs and jQuery UI from code.jquery.com, and the contact page map showed only an error panel.
  • Working forms: the booking form on the home page sends through php/booking.php, the contact form, the blog comment form and the elements page form through php/send-email.php, and the footer newsletter through php/subscribe.php, all with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message, and the blog sidebar search opens the blog. Before, the booking form’s button only reset the form and its selects had no names, the comment form was not a form, the contact form’s mail script put visitor input in a mail header, and the newsletter sent addresses to an outside mailing list. The booking form now uses the browser’s own date fields.
  • Accessibility: a skip link and a main landmark on every page, one h1 per page, the current page marked in the menu, a labelled menu button, a mobile menu that keeps keyboard focus inside and closes with Esc, submenus that also open on keyboard focus, names on icon-only links and buttons, labelled form fields and selects, a visible focus ring, reduced-motion support and WCAG AA text contrast: dark text on the gold buttons and bands (white text on the gold was 1.8:1), a darker gold for gold text on white, darker body text, lighter footer text and readable comment dates and newsletter input.
  • Fixed: the car slider shows three different cars (it showed the same photo three times); the elements page gallery opens in a lightbox (it opened the bare image file); the menu marks the page you are on (every page was marked Home); the home page counters now count up; placeholder links that pointed to “#” now go to real pages; and every page has its own title and description (every page had the same title), with Open Graph tags, a share image, car rental structured data and a favicon that shows (both favicon links pointed to missing files).
  • Demo content: three generic car classes (Economy Sedan, Classic Sedan and Sport Coupe) with their own prices and specs, car-rental copy in place of off-topic placeholder text in the services, testimonials, counters, blog and elements page, footer link columns that lead to the template’s pages, and fictional contact details. Photos that showed car brands are replaced with Unsplash photos or have the badges blurred.
