Academics is a website template for a university, college, school or online academy, built on Bootstrap 5. There are nine pages: home, about, admissions, courses, a single course, a news article, contact, log in and register. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready, with a sticky header, a drop-down menu and a side-panel menu on phones.
The home page opens with a full-screen hero slider, followed by three feature cards, a popular-courses slider with prices and ratings, an about band, a testimonials slider, a philosophy band, news with a large lead story, campus video links and a newsletter sign-up. The about page adds the school’s history and six teacher cards, the admissions page lists requirements for new students and transferees, and the course page shows the teacher, class hours and an enrol button. Academics gives you a ready-made site to present your courses and bring in applications.
What’s new in 3.0
Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.1.3 and jQuery), compiled from Sass with the original colours and proportions, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the hero, course and testimonial sliders, a video dialog replaces the old lightbox, a small built-in module replaces AOS, and unused plugins such as Stellar, the countdown, the date picker and the YouTube player are gone. Icons are Lucide SVGs.
Lighter pages: the nine pages went from 16.9 MB and 341 requests to 5.8 MB and 217 requests, and the home page from 2.4 MB to 1.5 MB. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading below the first screen, and the full-page preloader is gone.
No third-party requests: Muli is self-hosted, the old icon fonts are replaced by Lucide icons and a 1 KB social-logo subset, the campus videos load from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player only after a click, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID.
Working forms: the contact and newsletter forms send through php/send-email.php, with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message. Before, they posted nowhere and the contact fields were not inside a form. The log-in and registration forms validate in the browser and never send a password.
Accessibility: a skip link and a main landmark on every page, one h1 per page with headings in order, a keyboard-friendly menu and submenu, names on icon links, visible focus rings, reduced-motion support and WCAG AA text contrast, with a deeper green for text and buttons and darker body text.
Fixed: links to two pages that did not exist, a stray code fragment shown on the about page, and the second hero slide repeating the first photo. New hero and news photos, six distinct teachers, six different courses and four different news items replace the repeated placeholders.
