Description

Publishing Company is a website template for book publishers and independent presses, built on Bootstrap 5. It has nine pages: home, about, authors, book store, top sellers, coming soon, blog, a single blog post and contact. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready.

The home page opens with a parallax hero, followed by four book genres, counters, an about block, new releases, client testimonials in a slider and the latest blog posts. The book store page lists nine books with a box that filters them by type, and every book card has Quick View (the cover in a lightbox), add to cart, wishlist and compare buttons; the cart, wishlist and compare buttons are demo toggles for you to connect to your shop. You will also find an about page with testimonials and counters, a top sellers page with a genre and author sidebar, a coming soon page that lists upcoming books by month, an authors page with profiles and an A–Z author list, a blog, a blog post with comments and a comment form, and a contact page with a working contact form and a map that loads on click.

What’s new in 3.0

  • Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.2.1 and jQuery), compiled from Sass with the Bootstrap 4 proportions the design was drawn with, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the testimonials, Jarallax 3 runs the hero parallax (static on phones and when reduced motion is set), PhotoSwipe 5 replaces Magnific Popup for the Quick View covers, Tom Select 2 replaces bootstrap-select on the book filter, and small built-in modules replace Waypoints, animate.css and animateNumber for the reveal animations and counters. Plugins that nothing used, such as Scrollax and jQuery Easing, are gone. Lucide SVG icons and a Font Awesome 7 Brands subset replace the old icon fonts. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
  • Lighter pages: the nine pages and the thank-you page together went from 19.77 MB and 355 requests to 7.99 MB and 221 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, and the full-screen preloader is gone. The download went from 4.78 MB to 6.41 MB because it now includes the AVIF copies, the self-hosted fonts and the build tools along with the Bootstrap 5.3.8 Sass sources.
  • No third-party requests: Roboto and Lora are self-hosted, the Twitter bird is now the X logo, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. The contact page map is an OpenStreetMap map that needs no setup and loads only when a visitor clicks “Show map”. Before, every page loaded its web fonts from Google Fonts, its icons and select plugin from CDNs and a Google Maps script.
  • A book store that works: the type box on the book store page filters the books and says when no title matches, Quick View opens the cover in a lightbox you can zoom, and the cart, wishlist and compare icons are buttons that show their state, ready to connect to your shop. Before, the filter did nothing and these icons, like the post titles, footer links, sidebars, pagination and hero buttons, pointed to #.
  • Working forms: the contact form and the blog comment form send through includes/send-email.php and includes/comment.php, with a spam trap, a recipient you set and an in-page message, and the mailer keeps visitor input out of the mail headers. Before, the contact form posted nowhere and the comment fields had no names, so nothing could be sent.
  • Accessibility: a skip link and a main landmark on every page, headings in order, labelled search fields and book filter, names on icon-only buttons and links, visible focus rings (they were switched off) and 44 px targets for the slider dots, social icons, pagination and menu button. Text meets WCAG AA contrast: the grey-blue and coral stay on buttons, panels and icons, with darker shades of both for text, darker greys for body text and dark text on the bright testimonial band and book hover panel.
  • Demo content: the book covers, titles and authors are fictional and match across the cards and the lightbox, the authors page has eight different authors, testimonial clients and blog commenters have their own names with initials avatars, the nine blog posts have their own titles and dates (they all shared one title), the coming soon page lists releases from November 2026, and the contact page shows a fictional address. The broken testimonial quote markup and the blog sidebar’s list are fixed.
