Description

Workshop is a website template for a web design conference, a workshop or a tech event, built on Bootstrap 5, with a dark navy design, a monospaced font and a red-to-orange gradient on the titles. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready. There are seven pages: home, about, speakers, news, news post (one page for each of the six posts), tickets and contact.

The home page has a full-height hero with the event name, dates and a ticket button, the speakers, the day’s programme, the sponsors and the latest news. The about page adds a welcome section, the conference coordinator and the team, the speakers page the speaker profiles, the programme and attendee testimonials, and the news page six posts. The tickets page has three passes and a ticket order form, and the contact page a working contact form with the address, phone and email. Use Workshop for a design conference, a meetup or a series of workshops.

What’s new in 3.0

  • Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.1.3 and jQuery), compiled from Sass with the original colours and Bootstrap 4 proportions, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the testimonial slider, a keyboard-operable side panel replaces the off-canvas mobile menu, and a small built-in module replaces AOS for the scroll reveals. Magnific Popup, Stellar, a countdown, a date picker, jQuery UI, Slick and MediaElement were loaded or shipped without anything to run on, and are gone. Lucide SVG icons replace the IcoMoon icon font, with a small Font Awesome 7 Brands subset for the social logos (the Twitter bird is now the X logo). npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
  • Lighter pages: the home page went from 1.26 MB and 36 requests to 0.36 MB and 19 requests, and every page now weighs 0.27 to 0.46 MB with 8 to 19 requests (before, 1.14 to 1.26 MB with 29 to 36 requests). Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading below the first screen. The download is 0.87 MB (it was 1.89 MB) and includes the Sass sources, the build scripts and the PHP mailer.
  • No third-party requests: Roboto Mono and the social-logo subset are self-hosted, the other icons are inline SVG, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. Before, every page loaded its font from Google Fonts.
  • Working forms: the contact form sends through php/send-email.php, a safe mailer with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message (before, it posted to # and its fields had no names, so nothing could be sent). The tickets page has a ticket order: a Buy Ticket button or the Pass field chooses one of the three passes, a stepper sets the quantity from 1 to 10, the order summary shows the total, and a clearly labelled demo checkout checks the name and email and confirms the order without taking payment, ready to connect to your own payment or ticketing provider. Before, the Buy Ticket buttons went nowhere.
  • Distinct content: the programme lists four different talks with their own speakers (it listed one talk four times) and reads 10:45 AM where it said “10:45 NOON”, the four speakers have different roles (all four were “Web Designer”), the testimonials come from six different attendees shown with initials (they repeated three names), the three passes list different features, and six distinct news posts, each on its own page, replace six copies of one teaser. The event is dated 2027, and the venue and contact details are fictional.
  • Accessibility: a skip link, a main landmark and one h1 per page, a real menu button with a 44 px target whose side panel keeps keyboard focus inside and closes with Esc, named social links, descriptive alt text, visible focus rings on every link, button and field (the earlier release removed them) and WCAG AA text contrast: lighter greys on the navy background, a brighter start to the title gradient, deeper orange behind white button labels and underlined links inside meta and credit text.
  • Fixed: every link that went nowhere, from the calls to action, news titles, thumbnails and authors to the footer links and contact details, now leads somewhere (the social icons link to the networks as placeholders for your own profiles); the footer’s link to a Gallery page that did not exist now opens News; the 1 to 10 news pagination with no pages behind it is gone; and a stray closing tag that ended the page wrapper inside the header is removed.
