South is a real estate agency template built on Bootstrap 5. It has a full-width hero slider with an advanced property search below it, property cards with the price, address, bedrooms, bathrooms, garages and floor area, and a dark footer with office hours and featured homes. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready. There are eighteen pages: home, about, listings, nine property pages, the journal, three journal articles, contact and an elements page.

Every property card opens its own property page with a photo slider, a facts table, features, a rooms-and-sizes panel, a mortgage estimate and the listing agent’s contact form. The search works: filter by city, type, sale or rent, bedrooms, bathrooms, garages, floor area and year built, then sort, switch between grid and list view and page through the results. You will also find an about page with the team and testimonials, a journal with search, categories and comments, and a contact page with a working form and a map that loads on click. South gives an agent or an agency a ready-made site for selling and letting homes. Building on WordPress instead? South is also a free WordPress block theme, with a companion plugin for property listings and search.

What’s new in 3.0

• Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.1 and jQuery 2.2.4), compiled from Sass with the original proportions, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 runs the sliders, the mobile menu is a native dialog, and jQuery UI, ClassyNav and the bundled jQuery plugins are gone. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
• Real property pages and a working search: nine fictional listings, each with its own page whose price, rooms, area and address match its card. The filters, sorting, grid and list view and pagination follow the query in the address, so a search can be bookmarked or shared.
• Lighter pages: the home page went from 3.2 MB and 46 requests to 2.5 MB and 26 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading below the first screen, and photos are sharp on Retina and 4K screens. The full-page preloader is gone.
• No third-party requests: Open Sans is self-hosted, the icon fonts and PNG icons are replaced by Lucide SVG icons, the logo is an SVG, and the maps are OpenStreetMap maps that load only when clicked.
• Accessibility: a skip link, landmarks, one h1 per page, labelled form fields, visible focus, keyboard-reachable menus and slider arrows, and text contrast of at least 4.5:1 through darker shades of the brand brown.
• Working forms: the contact form, the agent form on every property page and the article comment forms post to an included PHP handler that sends nothing until you set your address, with clear sending, error and success messages.
• Real-estate copy in place of the placeholder text, colour and type settings as CSS custom properties, and meta descriptions, Open Graph tags and structured data on every page.
