Mini Blog is a personal blog template built on Bootstrap 5, with a minimal design in blue and white. The layout is responsive and works on phones, tablets and desktops. It comes with five pages: home, about, category, blog post and contact.

The home page has a photo grid of featured posts, recent posts, a mosaic of featured stories and a newsletter form, with a search bar in the header. The demo has twelve fictional posts, and each opens its own article with a full-width cover photo, comments, a comment form, the writer’s bio and a sidebar with search, popular posts, categories and tags. The category page lists the posts of a category, shows search results and pages through the archive, the about page introduces the blog and its three writers, and the contact page has a contact form and contact details. Use Mini Blog as it is or adapt it to your own blog.

What’s new in 3.0

• Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 4.1.3 and jQuery), compiled from Sass with the original colours and proportions, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. An accessible menu panel replaces the old off-canvas menu, Lucide SVG icons replace the IcoMoon icon font, the social logos come from a small Font Awesome Brands subset (the Twitter bird is now the X logo), and seven jQuery plugins that no page used, such as Owl Carousel, AOS and Magnific Popup, are gone. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
• Lighter pages: the home page went from 1.49 MB and 32 requests to 570 KB and 22 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading below the first screen. The download grew from 3.41 MB to 4.93 MB because each of the twelve posts now has its own sharp 1920 px cover photo; the earlier release stretched small 800 px photos across the post header.
• No third-party requests: Mulish is self-hosted, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. Before, every page loaded its web font from Google Fonts.
• Working forms: the contact form, the comment form and the newsletter form send through a PHP handler, using a safe mailer with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message. Before, none of the forms could send. The search bar in the header and the sidebar search open the matching posts.
• Accessibility: a skip link and landmarks on every page, one h1 per page, real buttons for the menu and search, labelled form fields, names on icon-only links, visible keyboard focus everywhere (the earlier release removed it) and WCAG AA text contrast, with a deeper blue for links and buttons, darker greys, dark text on the green and yellow category labels and a deeper shade behind the tile titles, so white titles stay readable over light photos.
• Fixed: the featured post on the home page disappeared on phones and is back, the tiles no longer touch and “Mini Blog” stays on one line; the post page no longer scrolls sideways on phones and tablets, and its sidebar search and social icons now show; the Home link opened the category page, and the footer, category, tag, Read More and Reply links went nowhere, and they now open real pages.
• Blog content: twelve fictional posts with their own titles, dates and excerpts (every card repeated one of two placeholder headlines and linked to the same page), each opening its own article; the category page handles categories, search results and paging; the writer’s bio follows the post’s writer; commenters have distinct names shown with initials; the contact details are fictional; and an RSS feed of the demo posts is included.
