Gardening is a template for gardening, landscaping and lawn care companies, built on Bootstrap 5. It has nine pages: home, about, services, projects, a project detail page, blog, a single blog post, contact and an elements page.
The home page opens with a full-width hero slider and covers six services, an about section, a feature projects carousel, a commitment statement and a free quote form. The projects page links each project to its own detail page with the service, place and year, and the blog has categories, tags, search, pagination and a comment form. The contact page has a working contact form and a map that loads on click.
What’s new in 3.0
Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used a Bootstrap 5 beta and jQuery) and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper replaces Slick and Owl Carousel on the hero, commitment and project sliders, PhotoSwipe replaces Magnific Popup, and Lucide SVG icons replace the icon fonts.
Lighter pages: the home page went from 2.24 MB and 56 requests to 0.99 MB and 26 requests, and the blog from 1.63 MB and 58 requests to 0.71 MB and 29 requests. Photos have AVIF versions with JPEG fallbacks, and the hero, page banners and footer stay sharp on Retina and 4K screens.
No third-party requests: the Barlow font is self-hosted, and the contact map is an OpenStreetMap map that loads only when a visitor clicks it.
Working forms: the contact, free quote, newsletter and blog comment forms post to included PHP handlers with validation and sending, error and success messages.
Accessibility: a skip link, labelled controls, keyboard-friendly menus, submenus and project captions, visible focus and text contrast of at least 4.5:1.
Fixes: a project detail page and distinct demo projects and posts, service icons that were shifted by one card, a quote form button that sent nothing, nearly invisible carousel arrows, and a page title, description and structured data on every page.
