Charity 2 is a charity and nonprofit website template built on Bootstrap 5. It has six pages: a home page, a blog, a single blog post, a single cause, a single event and a static page. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready.
The home page opens with a full-screen two-slide hero, followed by an about block with a video button, four figures, six causes with progress bars and donate buttons, a call to action, upcoming events, a testimonial slider, the latest posts and a footer with a photo gallery and a newsletter form. The blog pages have a sidebar with categories, latest posts, popular causes and tags, and the single pages end with share links and a reply form. Charity 2 gives a charity, a volunteer group or a fundraising campaign a ready-made site.
What’s new in 3.0
Bootstrap 5.3.8 (the earlier release used Bootstrap 3.3.7 and jQuery 2.2.4), compiled from Sass with the Bootstrap 3 proportions the design was drawn with, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the hero and testimonial sliders, Jarallax replaces Stellar.js, and the video button opens a native dialog. npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script.
Lighter pages: the six pages together went from 6.0 MB and 175 requests to 3.5 MB and 140 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading below the first screen, and phones get a portrait crop of each hero photo.
No third-party requests: Roboto and Source Sans Pro are self-hosted, Font Awesome 4 and Glyphicons are replaced by Lucide SVG icons and a small social-logo subset, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. Before, every page loaded its web fonts from Google Fonts.
Working forms: the newsletter and reply forms send through php/subscribe.php and php/send-email.php, with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message, and the search box is a real GET form. Before, none of the 15 forms posted anywhere.
Accessibility: a skip link and a main landmark on every page, one h1 per page, labelled form fields and icon buttons, a menu and search that work from the keyboard, visible focus rings and WCAG AA text contrast, with a darker green for text and buttons on white.
Fixed: more than 200 links that pointed nowhere now lead to a page or a section, a missing closing tag on the blog page, and the Bootstrap stylesheet’s references to font files that were not in the download.
Demo content: new photos of volunteers, food aid and community projects replace the original photos, the testimonial and commenter portraits are initials avatars, and the address, phone number and email are fictional.
