For more information see WordPress.org Custom Menus Help.
3. Custom Background
Pinbin theme supports WordPress Custom Backgrounds. How to change theme background:
- In WordPress dashboard go to Appearance->Background.
- You can either set the image or color as background.
- You can see the background preview on the same setting page.
- Click Save Changes when you are satisfied with what you see.
- You can always reset theme default background on change it down the line.
- There are no size limits for background images but it’s recommended to keep it as low as possible for better website load time.
4. Logo
Since version 2.0 the logo uses the WordPress custom logo feature, so the old Appearance → Pinbin Options screen is gone. Here is how to set one:
- Inside the WordPress dashboard go to Appearance → Customize → Site Identity.
- Click Select logo and choose or upload your image.
- Click Publish.
- The logo displays up to 44px tall, with no limit on width. Supply it at roughly twice that height so it stays sharp on high-resolution screens.
- With no logo set, the theme shows your site title and tagline instead.
Upgrading from 1.x? A logo set on the old options screen moves across on its own, the first time you load the dashboard after updating. You do not need to do anything, and the old Appearance → Pinbin Options URL now redirects to the Customizer.
5. Theme Options
Pinbin’s own settings live in Appearance → Customize → Pinbin Options:
- Colour scheme — Auto, Light or Dark. Auto follows the visitor’s own system setting.
- Maximum grid columns — how many columns the grid grows to on wide screens. The grid is fluid, so narrower screens step down on their own.
- Show excerpts on grid cards — turn the summary text off for a purely visual grid.
- Show the category ribbon on images — the translucent label along the bottom of each image.
- Footer credit text — replaces the default line in the footer.
There is also a Full Width page template, chosen under Template when editing a page, which drops the reading-width limit so galleries and full-bleed blocks can use the whole viewport.
6. Other
6.1 Why do images not appear on Pinbin?
Pinbin theme uses WordPress Featured Images. So if no featured images are set it won’t show anything.
If you have lot of posts and you don’t want to set featured images for each post manually you can use plugin called Auto Post Thumbnail. We already tried to implement this feature in theme but WordPress.org theme reviewers refused to accept it.
6.2 What is the recommended image size for this theme?
Grid cards are generated at 640px wide and single posts at 1400px wide, so upload featured images at least 1400px wide. The grid keeps each image’s own proportions, so portrait and landscape both work — and a mixture is what makes the layout interesting.
6.3 Why are posts not aligned in neat rows?
That is the design: it is a masonry grid, so each card is as tall as its own image and the columns stagger. Since version 2.0 the layout is pure CSS — no jQuery, no Masonry library, no layout JavaScript at all — so it no longer flickers while it settles, and it still works with scripting turned off.
Cards fill one column before starting the next, so posts read down each column rather than across the rows. Browsers that support native CSS grid masonry get row-major order automatically.
6.4 What does the theme require?
Pinbin 2.0 needs WordPress 6.6 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. The WordPress requirement comes from theme.json version 3, which carries the theme’s design tokens.
