In short: Colorlib is free to read. We earn money by selling our own website templates, through affiliate links and through advertising. Some links on this site are affiliate links, so we may earn a commission if you buy something after clicking one. It costs you nothing extra, and none of this decides what we recommend.
We publish this page so you can judge our recommendations knowing exactly how we are paid. It is also how we follow the US Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides.
How Colorlib makes money
1. Our own templates and themes
We sell website templates, one at a time or as a plan (see the licence). We also publish free WordPress themes on WordPress.org. Some of our articles and collections include our own products alongside products from other companies.
2. Affiliate links
Many of the themes, website builders, hosting companies and tools we write about have affiliate programmes. When you click one of these links and buy, the company pays us a commission. Here is how it works:
- You click a link on Colorlib. Affiliate links usually go through an address that starts with colorlib.com/out/ or colorlib.com/go/.
- The company’s website notes that you came from Colorlib, usually with a cookie.
- If you buy within the period the company allows, it pays us a share of the sale.
You pay the same price either way. Sometimes our links come with a discount for our readers, such as the code COLORLIB10 for Squarespace. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details from the company: we only see that a sale happened. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow" for search engines.
3. Advertising
Companies can pay for listings in our collections, sponsored reviews, sponsored guest posts and banners. Sponsored content is labelled as sponsored, and paying does not buy a positive verdict or a guaranteed place. The options and prices are on our advertising page.
How we keep recommendations independent
- We include products because they are good choices for the article’s topic, whether or not they have an affiliate programme. Many entries in our collections earn us nothing.
- The opinions in our articles are our own. Companies do not get to approve what we write about them, and we do not accept extra payment for positive reviews.
- We update popular articles to remove products that are no longer maintained and to add better options.
