Description

If you would like to add limitations to the dropdown, this free limited multiselect snippet is the perfect widget to go with. The elements that the user checks also turn green and appear with a checkmark.

Updated September 2026: this snippet is now plain HTML and CSS plus a few lines of vanilla JavaScript: no jQuery, no Bootstrap files, no plugins. The download is 249 KB (it was 1.2 MB). Use it on its own, or drop it into a Bootstrap 4, 5 or 6 project and it looks the same. The multi-select widget works without its plugin, and every choice is written back to a real select menu, so it submits with the form.
