Description

Carries is a website template for freight forwarding, trucking, shipping and logistics companies, built on Bootstrap 5. The layout is responsive and mobile-ready, and the header stays fixed at the top of the screen as you scroll. There are 21 pages: four home page versions, an about page, five pages of a tabbed company section (profile, history, annual reports, team and support), three service page layouts, a service details page, two blog lists, a blog post, two contact pages, a 404 page and a page that shows every section in one place.

The home page versions mix a hero slider over an airport photo, service cards, a quote form, road, sea and air freight services, a promotion band with a parallax background and client testimonials. The about page adds the company story, services and an FAQ, the company section adds annual reports, a company history, team profiles and a support page, the service details page has a sidebar menu and an FAQ, the blog has a sidebar, pagination and a post with comments and a comment form, and the contact pages have a working contact form, the address and a map that loads on click. Carries gives you a ready-made site to present a freight company, its services and its team.

What’s new in 3.0

  • Bootstrap 5.3.8, a jump of two major versions from the Bootstrap 3.3.7 and jQuery 1.12.4 of the earlier release, and plain JavaScript with no jQuery. Bootstrap is compiled from Sass together with the theme and the Bootstrap 3 proportions the design was drawn with (14 px text, 30 px gutters, 750, 970 and 1170 px containers), and the grid, FAQ panels, tabs, pagination and show/hide classes are rewritten in Bootstrap 5 markup. Swiper 14 replaces Owl Carousel on the sliders (the testimonial photo and quote rows still move together), Jarallax replaces Stellar for the parallax backgrounds, a small built-in module replaces WOW.js and animate.css, a built-in menu script replaces StellarNav, and CSS smooth scrolling and a few lines of script replace jquery.easing and jquery.sticky; Magnific Popup, jquery.appear and Modernizr, which were never used, are gone. Lucide SVG icons and a 1.8 KB social-logo subset replace Font Awesome 4.6.3 (the Twitter bird is now the X logo). npm run build (Dart Sass and esbuild) compiles one minified stylesheet and one script, and Swiper and Bootstrap’s JavaScript load only on the pages that use them.
  • Lighter pages: the home page went from 3.5 MB and 48 requests to 1.1 MB and 33 requests, and the contact page from 3.3 MB and 76 requests to 555 KB and 22 requests. Every photo has an AVIF version with the JPEG or PNG as the fallback, real dimensions and lazy loading, the two large background photos are re-encoded at 1600 px wide, and a copy of the demo images that no page used is gone. The download went from 7.7 MB to 6.6 MB.
  • No third-party requests: Roboto is self-hosted, the contact map is an OpenStreetMap map (no API key needed) that loads only when a visitor clicks “Show map”, and a Google Analytics 4 snippet stays commented out until you add your own ID. Before, every page loaded Roboto from Google Fonts, and the two contact pages loaded the Google Maps script, which failed and showed an error box instead of the map.
  • Working forms: the contact form, the home page quote form and the blog comment form send through php/send-email.php, and the newsletter form in every footer through php/subscribe.php, with validation, a spam trap and an in-page message. Before, the quote, comment and newsletter forms posted to “#”, so nothing could be sent, and the contact form’s mailer put the visitor’s input into the mail headers unchecked and sent every message to a fixed outside address.
  • Accessibility: a skip link and a main landmark on every page, one h1 per page with no skipped heading levels (the home page hero had two h1s and the inner pages none), real buttons for the menu and its submenus, submenus that open from the keyboard, a mobile menu that closes with Esc, labelled form fields, names on icon-only links and buttons, tabs and an FAQ that tell screen readers which item is open, visible focus rings, reduced-motion support and WCAG AA text contrast, with dark text on the orange buttons and boxes (white on orange was 2.2:1), a darker orange for orange text on light backgrounds, lighter footer text and darker shades behind the hero and page titles.
  • Fixed: the menu linked a Coming Soon page that did not exist, and the all-sections page had a placeholder menu of thirteen “Home” links. Hero and promo buttons, “read more” links, breadcrumbs, blog dates, categories, tags, pagination and the 404 button pointed to “#” and now go to real pages (the blog has two real pages instead of four dead page numbers). The footer showed the email under a map pin, the address under a phone icon and phone icons beside the latest tweets; the FAQ marked the wrong question as open after one was closed; a full-page preloader hid every page until all its images had loaded (it is gone); and typos such as “Get A Quate”, “Fast Delevery” and “Our Teem” are corrected.
  • Demo content: freight and logistics copy instead of lorem ipsum, fictional customers, team members, companies, address, phone and email, and photos that showed company logos on trucks, container ships and cartons are replaced with Unsplash photos without brand markings.
