Description

A newspaper-style front page with thirteen section tabs in a single row that scrolls sideways. Left and right scroll buttons with a soft fade appear only when there is more to see in that direction, and the selected tab is always scrolled into view. Each section shows a lead story and two secondary headlines.

It is plain HTML and CSS plus a few lines of vanilla JavaScript: no jQuery, no Bootstrap files, no plugins, and the download is 864 KB. Use it on its own, or drop it into a Bootstrap 4, 5 or 6 project and it looks the same.

  • Scroll buttons shown only when the strip overflows in that direction
  • Selected tab scrolled clear of the edge fades
  • Works with touch swipe, mouse wheel and arrow keys
  • Serif editorial layout with a lead story and side headlines
  • Smooth scrolling turned off for reduced motion
