The banner that houses the carousel seems attached to the home page and is constrained by the the container width 1200 pixels or so. I would like to set up a custom full-width banner position which I can use to house whatever content I want, text, carousel, boxes, etc. I know how to hack the ~/www/wp-content/themes/unite/header.php file and add some PHP below the <header></header> to include a file or a query – but rather than hacking in this manner I would prefer to modify the template to do this.
Can you point me to a tutorial to get me on the right tract?
I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.
