Organic Themes Review
Organic Themes have been around since 2009, which makes them ancient in web-years. It was founded and is being run by two guys from Hawaii. From the sounds of their description about themselves, they hate everything Themify stands for. They want to create sites which are free of flashy animations, gradients and drop shadows to create templates which are clean cut and beautiful. After looking at the showcase section, show the sites they have worked on, I can conclude they are, indeed, beautiful.
They offer a variety of themes aimed at businesses and artists in particular. The themes they have done for photographers in the past are totally perfect for showing off great photographs and also leaving space for some text and tags underneath. They say that they think WordPress is such a powerful tool there is no need for companies to release added code and frameworks. The showcase sites that I went on are running so smoothly that I think they might be right. Everything they have done since their creation has been so simple it is spellbinding. I was so charmed in fact that I forgot to even see how much they cost. Classic. For all of their themes they have ever done, it’ll set you back a cool $249. Per theme it is $69, so they aren’t trying to pull any clever marketing techniques on us here, at least.
In addition to photography portfolio themes, they also do a really appealing eCommerce one, which nicer than most of the websites of chain stores out there. It’s probably how that they have the knack of putting no clutter on their demos that they look so clean, but you might actually end up needing the clutter in the end to make it as functional as you need it to be. They’ve also joined up with everyone else and started making responsive themes, which fill the screen of an iPad or iPhone like water in a glass. I’m not actually a mobile internet user myself, but I can see how scrolling constantly could be an utter pain, especially if you’re on one of Themify’s templates.
Organic Themes make a nice change from most sites out there. It might be their name that’s fooling me, but they seem quite an honest lot, who make websites which don’t dazzle you, they just sort of caress you instead.
