Really fantastic collection. It may help them who want simple but attractive wordpress themes.

    1. I am glad you find it useful. Let me know if you can’t decide which theme is the right for you by giving my your requirements and what are your top themes from the list?

      1. Some great themes there! I really can’t decide which one i should go with so maybe you can help?

        1. James,

No problem with that. What exactly you are looking for, what features it your themes should have, what design elements you are after etc. We have already selected the best blog themes out there, so there is no point of asking which one is the best one as we stand behind every single theme on this collection.

          1. Thanks for the speedy response Aigars.
I’ve read many posts like this and this really does have the best bunch of themes that i’ve come across.

I am looking for a theme that will allow me to blog about my experience moving from 1 country to another. Mainly about my experiences and adventures. I am a keen photographer so will be loading up at least 1 (normally a bunch of) photo(s) on each post.

I would like the theme to be very clean and simple. I’m going for the more elegant style.

I’d also like the theme to allow for comments, a rating system, social sharing, etc. the usual stuff i suppose but also as my knowledge growns i would like the ability to add plugins. (i am very new to this)

Some themes that i liked the look of are…
            Uberto, GoBlog, Feather, Bluthemes, MeksHQ

            Thanks in advance!

            1. James,

Feather and GoBlog are also my favorite blog themes and I think others might be too heavy for what you need but they are not bad themes but I like to keep things as simple as possible.

Social sharing buttons are included with all themes but you can also use something like Jetpack plugin which is free to use and offers plenty of other options than just social sharing buttons. This plugins is developed by Automattic, the same team which is behind WordPress itself. This plugin also offers rating system as “Likes” but this kind of system doesn’t mean much because you see that people have liked your article but this doesn’t bring you social traffic or bring other benefit like you would get from regular Facebook button.

Images are supported by any WordPress themes and you can choose to add them inside content as standalone images or create galleries. Both functions are part of WordPress core, so they should work on any theme.

Plugins are great but try to use as few as possible because each plugin you install will affect your website performance and not in the best way. For a simple blog theme you would need SEO plugin (SEO by Yoast), Caching plugin for performance optimization (W3 Total Cache) and maybe contact form (Contact Form 7).

If you are looking for even simpler WordPress blog themes you might have a look at this theme collection. Most of these themes focuses on content and doesn’t have other things going on but they might be faster to load.

Let me know if this helps.

              1. There are some very very good themes on that page for me! Thanks you.
I definitely think i’ll be going with either –
                MH Cicero
                Readolog
                Genesis
                Blogify
                Hemlock

                Decisions decisions!

          2. Aisha Lagunju says:

Hi Aigers, I want a theme for a woman focused blog, more like a community-type of blog for the Nigerian woman. I will talk about topics on career, romance, fashion, lifestyle, etc. Please help with a theme.

            1. Aisha,

Sorry for late response. I see that you have already went with The Voux theme. It is a great WordPress theme for feminine and girly websites. I highly recommend this theme!

              1. Really nice theme, indeed. Going to try that one (Voux theme) out to.

          3. Alex Vasquez says:

Hi Aigars, I am looking for a theme that is similar to something like this.
Do you have any themes like this website?

            Alex

            1. Alex,

Any blog theme listed above will get the job done but for event functionality you can go with plugin called Event Manager which is a completely free WordPress plugin that works with any of above listed themes.

      2. siri want to build a blog where anyone can post ..which theme would be correct ..please help me

        1. Akil,

I recently answered the same question on Quora. I hope you don’t mind that I will point you to my answer there.

If you have any other questions about user powered websites, please let me know and I will be happy to help.

      3. chime ndubuidi says:

aigars can i get a theme that looks exactly like that of perez hilton

        1. Chime,

Perez Hilton is using completely outdated theme which is not even responsive. If you find such theme make sure to keep away from it as Google uses mobile-friendly structure as ranking factor. Using this kind of theme will do more harm than good. Any of above listed theme will work much, much better as they are all responsive and mobile-friendly.

  2. velvet scraps says:

Absolutely lovely list of WP themes. And so many more out there. It seems things are just getting better and better and it’s already hard to pick a theme these days with so many to choose from!

  5. I would like to use the theme with 1 column + sidebar. Is this an option in the theme? If not, this would be a great option for us Classic bloggers.

    1. 1/2 of these themes features a classic content + sidebar layout. If you are looking for some really clean and minimal blog theme I can recommend BuzzBlog. It is a very simple blog theme yet it has everything you would expect from premium WordPress theme.

  6. Great list. Thanks for sharing such a amazing list of shopping sites. It helps me alot in selecting best and attractive clothes.

    1. Osgood,

Thank you for your feedback! Which one is your favorite theme on this collection?

  7. love these theme ,,, i will use omega for my next blog thanks for preparing this list

  10. Naval Saini says:

Great and awesome list for themes i found one for my new blog.

Thank you so much for writing this post.

    1. Naval,

Thank you for your feedback! Which theme did you choose and why?

  11. HI.. all really nice and good-looking themes.
Can you help me pick out one for my blog?

    1. Cleo,

I have already listed above my favorite WordPress themes for blogs. If you have some specific requirements then please let me know and I will try to come up with some suggestions. For some even simpler blogging themes you might want to check this theme collection.

  12. Hi,
I am looking for a clean modern theme for a blog. I would like to repost and link articles, creat ad space and create a marketplace with shoppable links. Can you recommend a theme? I was drawn to Rosemary,Buzz Blog and Hello World.

    1. Nicole,

I would go with Rosemary or Buzz Blog themes are they are much more flexible and will work better for what you need. Hello World theme is more for plain text driven website and might lack some functionality when it comes to visuals. I am not saying that it is a bad theme but I believe that Rosemary and Buzz Blog are more capable ones for what you need.

  13. Great post. I’m really appropriate. really helpful

    1. Ferdous,

You are in the right place because your blog desperately need a redesign and also it is no longer mobile-friendly which means that you are losing valuable traffic Google. Since April 21st Google uses mobile-friendly website design as ranking factor and you are already late for the party, so make sure to act now!

  14. All of nice and good-looking themes, Nice collection and compilation. Please advise me which one i use on my blog.

  15. danu adji says:

outstanding once your post, I was very impressed with the theme of which is provided, please help me to assess my web page, thank you,

    1. Danu,

Your is combination between blog and eCommerce website therefor I would recommend to choose some eCommerce theme from this collection. My mentioned eCommerce themes are goign to be great to list your product and they have their own dedicated blog page. Above listed themes are mean for blogging therefore selling and showcasing your product is going to be rather difficult.

  16. Hi. Thank you for this list. I’m in the process of choosing a new theme. My site in currently on the Genesis Frame Metro Theme. Can’t wait to change – its very outdated and not user friendly. I’m leaning towards Scalia or Sea Shell. Would love your opinion. Also, the subscribe bar and sliders are new and I’d like to keep them as part of my site.

    Thanks so much
    Lynne Houston
    Life as a Mortician’s Wife

    1. Lynne,

      Thank you for your comment!

Your website is not mobile-friendly as well. Some tweaks have been made to make it responsive but as a result layout looks broken on mobile and you definitely need a new theme or at least fix the existing one.

Both Sea Shell and Scalia are great themes and well maintained and supported by their authors, so it is all about your personal preference and what functionality you need. Scalia is a multipurpose theme which means that it includes things such as visual drag & drop page builder and dozens of different layout options. Sea Shell is all about blogging but since your website is a blog then this is not a dealbreaker to choose either Scalia or Sea Shell.

About Sidebar and Subscription bar. It depends how you created these. If these are widgets that come with your theme then they are going to disappear once you switch to a new theme because they will be gone with the old theme. If these widgets/features are enabled using plugins or are custom built it could be possible to port them to the new themes. Can’t tell for sure as I can’t see how those are made.

Let me know if this helps.

  17. I’ve enjoyed reading through a the theme collections; there are certainly many great choices! It’s almost overwhelming! I’m looking for a couple of recommendations for a IT/Architecture/Programming blog. Something that integrates well with social-media sites would be great for obvious reasons, and plugins are particularly useful for IT blogs. (Any thoughts about those would be helpful as well! )

    1. Darren,

For IT & programming blog I can recommend Schema, Buzzblog. However, if you are going to blog about frontend development or web development in general I strongly recommend to create your own theme. That way you will look much more professional.

Let me know if you have any other question about these or any other theme listed on Colorlib.

  18. Amelia Williams says:

    Hi Aigars,

I am bit confused for choosing a theme from this brilliant collection. Please suggest me a theme for my new personal blog and thank you.

    1. Amelia,

Please let me know your requirements and I will try to suggest some relevant themes. All above listed themes can be used for personal blogs and all comes down to your personal preference. If you can’t decide which theme is the right one for you, there is always an option to choose Genesis framework. it is flexible enough that you will be able to create completely unique blog on your own.

Like I said, let me know your preferences and I will come up with some examples.

  19. Dear mr. Aigars,
thank you for this great post. I’m in the process of choosing a new theme for my beauty blog, that would be trendy, feminine but clean, fast, SEO Optimized, mobile-friendly, Translatable – WPML Ready, with slideshow option, possibly boxed. Themes that i liked from these post: Brixtons, Rosemary, Josephine, Hello Word and BuzzBlog. Am i looking. Would love your opinion about wich one suits my wishes. I’d also like to have infinity scroling … what is your opinion about that?
    Thank you for answering,
    Nika

    1. Nika,

      Thank you for your comment!

I see that you have already decided to go with BuzzBlog theme. It’s an amazing WordPress theme and will definitely get the job done for you. If you need any further assistance, please let me know and I will be happy to help.

  20. I am having trouble finding the right theme for my website/Vlog/Blog. I will be posting pics and videos (youtube) or if there is another way, that way. I also plan on having ads in the future. Please help me.

    1. Malory,

Any theme listed above can handle Youtube videos, images, infographics, gifs, audio and other media content. Technically WordPress is what handles media and themes applies design. Therefore you can choose theme that you like the most from design perspective.

Right now my favorite blo themes is The Voux.

  21. // grenobloise says:

I was hoping to see “Rosemary” on here because that’s the one I’m planning to purchase. I also hear that Solo Pine’s customer service is fantastic. Great selection!

    1. Hi,

Actually Rosemary them is listed above and I like this theme as well. It’s really well designed blog theme and can be used for many different niches such as travel, food, fashion, lifestyle and others.

      1. Rhonda Lappi says:

        Hi Aigars.

I am just beginning my blog site. I have the domain through ipage, downloaded wordpress, etc.. I am now of course trying to choose a theme. I would like something fairly easy, but definitely want to it to be put out there and noticed. I want it to be easily searchable. It is regarding addiction and how it affects family etc.. I have a lot of resources for it, personal stories from a mom’s perspective etc.. All of these themes are amazing, however which one would you suggest I use?

        Thanks so much in advance!

        1. Rhonda,

It’s really difficult to highlight the above listed themes as all of them are very simple and easy to use blog themes. Whichever you will choose, you definitely will not regret it, as we already selected the best blog themes available today.

My favorite are The Voux, Morning Time and BuzzBlog but maybe you have a different taste for design and it is completely subjective.

If you want to know more about functionality or other aspects of these themes please let me know.

          1. Thank you for your help! I will definitely let you know if I need more help once I choose the theme. 🙂

  22. Hi Aigars.

I purchased Morning Time. However, it is not downloading properly and I don’t know how to delete the current theme to install this one after I figure out how to download it.

    Thanks.

    1. You can follow these instructions to install a new theme. No need to delete your existing theme. Install Morning Time theme and then activate it. You will be able to switch back to your existing theme, so make sure to keep it while you are working on configuring your new theme.

  23. This is very informative! I have had so much trouble trying to customise themes (bought and free themes) From my perspective a lot of themes aren’t user friendly for a beginner and the support is terrible, A part from free themes I have bought and tried to customise Divi and evolve without any success. Are there actually any themes easy to customise for a writing/photography blog out there? Easy customising is a must along with something that is impressive ( sliders ) and with the add ins of a check out ( for ebooks ). social icons.. Seo and image slider that allows for written content. This is my last avenue of seeking help before I do what I don’t want to do and that is ‘pay someone big money to set up’ well, I say big money because that’s what I’ve been told with inquiries I’ve made. Any help would be much appreciated and thank you in advance!
    Jo

    1. Jo,

Sorry to hear about your experience.

If you couldn’t setup a Divi theme by reading its documentation and watching their countless video tutorials then there is not much I can recommend. It is as simple as it gets but if you don’t have any experience with WordPress then you might want to take some online courses before you proceed with themes. All themes works in a similar manner and if you learn how to setup a one theme you will be able to setup any theme out there.

There are plenty of WordPress tutorials available on Youtube and once you get basics in place you can proceed with Divi video tutorials.

  24. Very useful post. Lots of theme to choose from. A perfect guide for a beginner.
    Thanks.

    1. Hello Partha,

These themes are great for both beginners and professionals. There are plenty of great themes on this collection for everyone to choose.

Which blog theme is your favorite and why?

  25. (Any thoughts about those would be helpful as well! )

    1. Ben,

I think that most above themes listed above are going to work well for coding blog as images are optional for all themes. My personal favorites are Master, Rosemary, Schema, Morning Time and BuzzBlog.

  26. Ashish Ajani (@ajaniashish) says:

Gone through some of them and based on that I can say that you’ve included good themes. Will take look on other remaining themes in my free time. Thank you for sharing such wonderful list, it really helps when searching for some inspirational theme features.

Most of Themes are paid But Nice Themes I like White and Minimal once
    Thanks
    Sagar Ganatra

    1. Sagar,

All above listed themes are premium WordPress blog themes. If you are looking for free WordPress themes you should check this theme collection instead.

  30. I am am starting a blog that is based around moms and families. Do you recommend a theme for that? I am planning on using a lot of social media platforms like Vine, etc.

    1. Kate,

You can use any theme listed above. Blog themes doesn’t have any specific functionality such as drag and drop page builder, service sections, testimonial sections, employee section and so on. Blogs are all about text and images and none of themes comes with images included. Demoes are just for demo purpose and you get just a theme without those images. Once you install the theme you will have to use your own images and text. Like I said, any theme will work well for you as long as you like it yourself and that’s the only thing that matters.

  31. Really nice detailed list you have here. Most lists of WordPress themes I have seen only have a few different ones on their lists, making it seem like there aren’t many choices.

This nice long list will help many people narrow down which themes they might want to take a look at.

Thanks for providing this great list, I see a few I am going to look into.

  32. Great Collection Aigar,
I have been searching for a blog theme for my personal blog, you posted here the best. I have looked into the details and demos and now i want to select the best for my blog.

    1. Mubeen,

Feel free to do so. If you need any help choosing the right theme for you just let me know your requirements and will try to help you from there.

  33. Hello sir,

I create a site which based on Android apps & games means a downloadable site. I want a perfect theme for my site. Please suggest a theme. sorry for my bad English I’m not a native speaker.

    1. Vishal,

Will images be an important part of your website? The main difference is between content and image driven blogs. If you are looking for image driven ones then Schema, Cool, Foodica and The Voux themes might be the right ones. But usually it still comes down to your personal preference. Blog themes are always rather simple and it shouldn’t be too difficult to choose the right one for you unless you are looking for some specific functionality. If that’s the case, please let me know more details and will try to help you form there.

  34. Hello sir,

Many many thanks for your suggestions. Yes i want some functionality like only show Apps Icon & a little description Eg:- ( Facebook apk v.5.5) with Thumbnails and page navigation like 1,2,3,4,5,6, more. And some top post widget with thumbnails.

    Thanx.

    1. Vishal,

I think that grid style themes will work better for you. Here are some of the best grid style blog themes that you might consider.

  35. Hi,

I’m looking @ Webinane Personal themes for my travel blog,

Is this theme suit for Travel Blog?
Do you have any other recommendations for Travel Blog ?

Added, I would like to intergate webinane Personal theme into my exisiting website.

Is it easy to install in this way ?
Is webinane user friendly in intergrating with exisiting website ?

    My hosting are with Godaddy,
Not too sure whether it’s easy to install wordpress into exisiting website.

Anything I need to take note when installing in such a way ?

Looking forward to hear from your advise,

    Thanks,

    Mint

    1. Mint,

      1. It will work perfectly well for travel blog just like most other blog themes listed above. These are multi-purpose blog themes well suited for any niche blog.
      2. Installation depends on your current setup. It doesn’t matter which theme you will choose as process will be the same. You either need to contact your hosting provider or hire some freelance developer to check your website in greater detail.
      3. WordPress can be easily installed side by side with your existing website. For example if your website is using a domain name MyTravelWebsite.com your blog can be installed on MyTravelWebsite.com/blog or blog.MyTravelWebsite.com or otherwise. It’s up to you to decide.
      4. Installing WordPress on Godaddy hosting is very easy process and there is even automated installed but before that make sure to backup your entire website.

  36. I am quite impressed with your responses to people on here so I am going to try to see if you can help me too. I want to create an infopreneur site. I want to offer a content heavy blog, sell an ebook, offer a handful of merchandise items as well as coaching. I may or may not need a youtube channel integration. I like a clean design interface but one that can help me achieve the things I’ve listed herein. What is the best theme for my purposes? The choices are overwhelming and I don’t know enough about the technology to know what pitfalls to avoid and what themes have really good coding I can depend on. Help!

    1. Cara,

Thank you for your feedback! I highly appreciate it!
I think that regular blog themes are not going to be the right for your you as you are looking to sell your own services and merchandises. I think Salient, Unicon and Jupiter themes would be a much better choice for you. These are multipurpose themes with WooCommerce integration and will allow you to create professional looking service section. Of course you can still put a blog in front of your website using these themes but this themes are capable of doing a lot more.

  37. Muhammad Imran says:

Thank you for sharing these themes, I really like Grateful and Uncode theme. These are very beautiful and great looking.

  38. Hello! Thank you for sharing such a nice cintent with us! I hope u have time t answer my question too. I would like to change my blog theme to clean, responsive one more in minimalistic style. I love the piemont theme, but it is not free. Can u suggest an alternative in a free segment. I would really appreciate that. Thanks and best regards from Germany. Julia

    Hello sir,

I’m looking themes for my educational blog,
I’m start PHP tutorial so I want to a good themes.

Do you have recommendations for me any themes ?

    Thanks,

    Virendra

    1. Hello Virendra,

Personally I would go with The Reader, Foodica, Brixton, Piemont, Uncode or Webly. This is my personal preference but since all themes are customizable you can feel free to choose any of these blog themes and they will get the job done for you.

  40. Absolutely versatile and appealing collection…thank you for this. But this now makes me lil confused. If you can spare some time and suggest which ones fit better for my personal blog. I am a writer, Columinst and blogger. I leave below my blog link for your consideration.

  41. Hi thee! I hope you can help me finding a suitable wp theme that I am looking for. I want a theme that is mainly foccused on bloggin and where I can show my portfolio as well. I am planning to attract international readers from different countries so the theme needs to be easy to translate and so on. I have readed your article about the best portfolio themes as well but these focus to much on the portfolio. I did not find what I was looking for in this article either. I want to have different (sub?) categories for my blog as well, so NOT one big “blog” section. Since I have no experience with bloggin or wp it needs to be easy to work with. I like swank theme but in my opinion this is very limitted when it comes to customizing your blog.

Hope you have some suggestions for themes that will do the Job!

    1. Eva,

WordPress by default does allow categories and sub-categories which means that these themes supports it as well. All WordPress functionality is supported by these themes.

      1. Eva Dekker says:

Thank you for answering. But are there no suggestions that you have? If you had read my comment than you would have understood that I’m looking for a lot more than just a blog theme. I was hoping that your answer would have been more exentive…

        1. Eva,

You are still looking for a very basic WordPress theme but you think that you are looking for some kind of unicorn. Theme such as Uncode, Morning Time, Soledad and other listed above have its dedicated portfolio section. Even themes that doesn’t have portfolio section on their theme does have them in place. If not, you can always use 3rd party (free) WordPress plugins to create a portfolio. Also all portfolio themes listed here does have a blog section therefore any of those themes suites your needs. Thing that you don’t realize is that even if portfolio is put in front of theme demo it doesn’t mean that you can’t move it somewhere else. WordPress is very, very flexible and that’s why millions of users loves it.

Multilingual support is also not a problem these days because there is plugin such as WPML (premium) that allows to translate any WordPress website in as many languages as you want. All above listed themes are compatible with this awesome multilingual plugin.

  42. Mansoor Bhanpurawala says:

Nice themes! Which will the best theme to purchase for SEO Training Institute. ?

    1. Mansoor,
I highly recommend SEO WP theme which is well suited for SEO training, SEO service, SEO consulting and other SEO related websites. You can read more about this theme here. it is listed as 1st one our our SEO theme list.

  43. Nice article and nice themes. Please do you know any theme similar to about.com.

    1. Jeffery,

About is using Magazine style layout and here you can see some of the best magazine style themes for WordPress. Above listed themes are simple blog themes that won’t work that well for magazine website.

  44. Nice themes – are they optimized for SEO? Greetings from Germany.

    1. Marko,

WordPress in general is SEO friendly and these themes are not going to break it. For more advanced SEO functionality we recommend using some free WordPress plugins such as Yoast SEO which we use for our website as well.

  45. Yusuf Özbay says:

Really thanks for your kindly attantion to write this awesome useful post. I have good impression w/ read it. But, couldn’t get decide to use theme of these for my personal blog. I also looking for well optimized, and designed as minimalistic too. for instance, Neilpate WordPress personal blog theme.

  46. I am currently deciding between Nimva, Minimalix and Brandon for a new digital marketing blog. Could somebody point me the right away or suggest another theme

    1. Rajen,

None of your mentioned themes are specifically made for blogs. Using a multipurpose theme for a blog might be a an overkill. Of course the blog part will work perfectly fine but multipurpose themes means loads of features, visual drag & drop page builder and more. Those things are very useful but will slow down your website. Blogs should be a simple as possible and that’s why we created this theme collection to showcase the best blog themes that are fast to load and doesn’t contain any bloat.

  47. thanks for compiling this list, I am using SteadyIncome and so far I am very happy with results. It loads fast and is also is SEO friendly. Great theme for its price.

  48. Emily Johns says:

This list of themes is great. For last couple of months I’ve been changing my site’s theme every week and I’m still not satisfied, something is always missing. I think I saw here a theme or too that might finally be perfect for me. I will update soon enough. Thanks for the great list of themes.

  49. Hi Aigars,

I am brand new to the blogging world, and i’m not even sure what layout to look for for my blog. I would like something kinda fun, yet clean. There won’t be any ecommerce on the site (at least not for now). Mostly text, pictures, and maybe links. Any idea which theme might be best for a newbie like me??

    Thanks
    Kim

    1. Kim,

I can recommend Foodica, The Voux or Applique that are well suited for everyone looking to create their first WordPress blog. You can also read this detailed guide to learn more how to setup hosting, domain, install plugins and theme.

  50. I am using genesis themes right now on my site.I have a plan,I am going to start a technology site where i will give information about upcoming technology. Can you give me any suggestion which themes should i use?

    1. Hafiz,

We have a dedicated list of themes for tech news sites and blogs. You can fid it here.

  51. Wow, so many of these are incredibly beautiful and so many of them fit my needs haha. It’s a shame they’re all paid, but I can understand why since the thought behind the design is sometimes jaw-dropping. Seriously, it’s like they took a look into my brain and made all my dreams a digital reality!

  52. Dear Aigars

Thank you for this collection, this is truly inspiring. I searched all the comments and I came close to finding a blogtheme for my project, but not quite. I am planning a health/travel/lifestyle project, also planning to sell ebooks and other products most likely. I am asking you because I am quite impressed with the advise you give.
So here is what I look for:

    – Support from designers
    – able to sell products
    -Multilingual
    – Blog
    – easy to customize, lots of options
    – low key
    – minimal design, beautiful to look at.

    Thank you
    Angelina

    1. Angelina,

My recommendations for you are Soledad, The Voux, Foodica and Uncode in no particular order as all of them are an amazing blog themes.

  53. Lakshmi Geeth says:

    Hi Aigars

I just started my first WordPress blog. I would like to have a theme like sugar or Josephine which would be free. Can you suggest one for me? thanks in advance 🙂

  54. Kate Sheren says:

Really amazing wordpress theme list. there are many interesting themes in your list. I will use these themes in my upcoming projects.

  55. Hi Aigars,

Great list of stylish wp themes. I’m interested in a design like that in Crystal, where the post is highlighted at the top and the subsequent posts are listed below. Clean, minimal yet stylish and modern. I would also like a fast loading website (Crystal didn’t seem perform well on Google Pagespeed Insights). Can you recommend another theme similar to Crystal but also fast loading, with the feature post on top design? I guess I could modify the codes as Insights suggest but I’m a newbie coder.

    Thanks

    1. Kevin,

None of themes are slow as long as you use some decent hosting. For example Colorlib hosting bill consists of 4 digits a month and of course our website just flies. But if you are looking to pay $3/month for hosting then don’t expect your website to load fast. With hosting saying that you get what you pay for is always true therefore WordPress managed hosting is your only choice if you are looking for performance. Our number one recommendation is WP Engine. For more information please read this article.

  56. Hi Aigars

Great list of WordPress themes, however, can you suggest if the Hello World or another theme is simple enough and would not require a broad base of knowledge to get up and running and manage. I want to focus on content and not becoming a website programmer.

I am starting my first WordPress blog and am already confused by all the lingo that comes with it. Would like to pick one that is simple enough though beautiful….my blog will focus on personal development subject matter.

    1. Todd,

For a simple blog I would recommend Foodica, Morning Time, GraceUnderPressure, Writing or Rosemary. These are the simples blog themes on the list while they look clean and stunning. Highly recommend all of them.

You will still need to understand basic WordPress concepts but once you get used to those, switching from one theme to another is going to be simple because they are very similar but you need to learn WordPress first.

  57. Hi Aigars,
I am looking for a theme with translation options since I would like to set up my blog in English and German. I have not found anything in the list. Did I overlook something or do you have any recommendations for me?

    Thanks,
    Janis

    1. Hello Janis,

All themes are translation and multilingual ready. However, you need to use WPML plugin which is sold separately. You can read more about it here.

  58. Hello Aigars,

Just starting a fashion blog. Kindly assist me in picking a Theme that is fully responsive, clean, loads fast, SEO optimised, “translatable”, social icons at the end of each and every post; comments and subscription section as well.

There are so many to choose from. This is what they mean by “paradox of choice”

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Yinka

    1. Yinka,

I can recommend Soledad, The Voux, Foodica, Applique. All of them are amazing themes and well suited for fashion blogs.

  59. Ali Hussain says:

Somedays ago I was looking for a premium WordPress newspaper themes as I have realized that there is only one which is providing that kind of information is colorlib. Thanks guy for being such a nice and informative blog about WordPress themes, plugins, services and core itself.

  60. Hi Aigars,

Congratulations on your website it is very interesting but I am getting lost into WP themes!

I am looking for a WP theme as I am starting a blog about fitness, nutrition and lifestyle. I want more of a list presentation for posts with a top bar and right bar for featured content/sign up/ads. I would also like the option of putting a sign up bar into the posts texts and in other parts of the site.

Could you advise me with a theme that is clear yet dynamic and that allows: comments, payments, links to download contents, video integration. Of course, I want it to be fast, responsive and SEO optimized.

For a reference site including the features I am looking for: liveyourlegend.net – although I find the design really outdated!

Thanks in advance for your answer,

    Cheers,

    Alex

    1. Alex,

I see that you are already using Sparkling theme which is an amazing WordPress theme and the best par is that is is completely free theme. But if you are looking for even more flexibility and I would recommend Divi theme. You can read more about this theme here.

  61. Hello Aigars,

My name is Vivi and I´m writing from Sweden.

Thank you for an awesome list. I have been looking for a similar for so long- but haven´t succeeded. Until today 🙂

I wonder if you can help me and recommend a Theme for my purpose, which is to start av DIY-blog with mostly videos, but also texts.

I want it to be clean, beautiful, intuitive, but still personal. I personally like colors and handwritten text. Two of my favourites are studiodiy.com and abeautifulmess.com (I understand that you need to delete those, not to be commersial)

    Some wishes:
    – I want it to have social networking plugins such as facebook, twitter, google plus, and pinterest
    – Simple and intuitive
    – Instagram photograph carousel
    – I´m gonna write both recepies and tutorials so I would like it to work good with that.
    – I´m really looking forward to your answer- since I feel a little bit lost according to this

Best regards and thanks in advance,
    Vivi from Stockholm, Sweden

    1. Hello Vivi,

Themes that I can recommend for you are Soledad, Brixton, The Voux, Rosemary, Appliqué in no particular order as all of them are amazing themes.

      Regarding your other questions:
      – Social sharing buttons are part of most themes but there are thousands of free plugins that you can use for this purpose. You can find free WordPress plugins on official WordPress repository.
      – Instagram carousel is also available for my mentioned themes but you can also use some of free plugins.
      – Content structure is up to you as blog themes doesn’t have custom fields therefore you can style your content in any way you want. Afterwards you can select the right category, so things would be easy to follow and won’t be mixed together.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I will be happy to help.

  62. Hello Aigars

I am fairly impressed with your feedbacks to individuals on here so I am going to attempt to see if you could assist me also. I want to produce an infopreneur website. I intend to offer a content heavy blog site, offer an ebook, offer a handful of product products in addition to training. I could or might not require a youtube channel integration. I such as a clean layout interface but one that could help me accomplish things I have actually listed here. Exactly what is the very best concept for my functions?

The choices are frustrating and also I don’t know sufficient about the modern technology to recognize exactly what pitfalls to prevent and what concepts have truly thorough coding I can depend on. By the way, thanks for share the awesome themes.

    Regards.
    Kubra

    1. Kubra,

Any of above themes listed above does exactly what you described therefore you can choose any of those themes. Make sure to choose one from design perspective as blog themes doesn’t have page builders or any other fancy things but rather depends on WordPress default settings. It is the best to choose a blog theme from design persprice over everything else.

      1. I also want to produce an infopreneur website and offer a content heavy blog site, sell some products (ecommerce), and do some consultations which is why I am interested in Kubra’s question and your answer .

In addition I will be loading YouTube videos, want to have Instagram and Facebook widgets on the homepage, but have no coding knowledge at all so need a theme where I can literally drag and drop.

But want it more cleaner and a bit less cluttered looking.

However I did not understand your answer:
“Make sure to choose one from design perspective as blog themes doesn’t have page builders or any other fancy things but rather depends on WordPress default settings. It is the best to choose a blog theme from design persprice over everything else”. Are you saying to choose a blog theme or not? I am confused.

Can you advise which theme would be most suitable for my needs?

        Thanks in advance.

        1. Any theme listed above does allow Youtube embeds, Facebook, Twitter and other widgets. These widgets and embers comes from these services and WordPress or these themes has very little to do about it. Some themes does have some different styling applied to those widgets but they are still the ones that these services offers and not themes. So it is not important to look for themes that claims Facebook, Instagram or other support because it is there by default.

My personal recommendations are Soledad, Uncode, Foodica and Kalium. All of them comes with WooCommerce (most popular ecommerce plugin for WordPress) support.

  63. Hi – this is quite helpful as I work on creating a blog for an alumni association at a university. The office staff members will be the main contributors. We want to share stories and pictures as simply as possible. Grateful, Writing and Tulip all appeal to me. But, I think HelloWorld may be the best for us. Do you have any thoughts Aigars?

    1. Alli,

Choose the one that you like the most because all themes are very similar from feature and quality perspective and I have already selected the best ones. Now choose the one you like the most.

  64. Aptha Gowda says:

Hi… Nice collection…. which theme is best for blogger blogs with fast loading speed…

    1. Aptha,

We have already outlined the best and fastest ones and you can feel free to choose the one you like the most.

  65. Dear Aigars,

You are really doing a great job, and I hope you can help me too.

I would like to start a blog, but I’m new in this field. I have browsed through the different themes and can’t make up my mind. My blog is to be dedicated to creative presents. I am not going to sell or advertise merchandise but write about presents that I have received or prepared for others, to inspire people. So stories will be the core, and photos will be just to catch attention (I am thinking of a main one for each article and optional ones to illustrate certain ideas). I want each article to consist of a heading, a lead, the main body and a “technicalities” section, which is to unfold only when requested (like the “read more” button, but I will need two for each article). Also, can I divide separate parts of a text with a border of my own? I’m thinking of a line of gift boxes between the lead and the main body, and between the main body and the technicalities.
The other things I will need are probably standard: article categories, comments (readers should be able to attach files – mostly photos, to their comments) and a carousel with random articles from the archive. I also want to blog in two languages and have icons of flags in the top right corner to switch from one to the other.
As regards themes, I quite like Drop Shipping (but I would rather have a carousel with random posts than a list of most recent ones in the box on the right). But frankly speaking the only thing I am sure of regarding layout is that I need two columns. As regards the style, I don’t think it should be too elegant or posh. I aim for creativity.

I hope that it isn’t too much, and you will be able to advise me.
Thanks in advance and all the best from Poland.
    Joanna

  66. Hello Aigars,
I’ve been browsing your website for a good couple of hours, you have amazing collections. I will be grateful if you share your expert opinion. I’m looking for something fast (I’ve studied your fast collection) and classy (I’ve looked into your clean collection) to build a mix of travel&lifestyle blog and freelancer profile (marketing and management areas) website. As everyone else here I’m quite confused which theme will be the “best” match. I have a very basic coding knowledge and managed 5 websites in wordpress so far. However, every time I was limited with options to a certain extent (e.g. inability to change home page without codding)

I found many beautiful themes here like soledad, simple&elegant, brixtons, zarja, piemont. I was thinking whether universal themes to fit “everyone” like X, soledad and brixtons are not slowing down website with so many features? Maybe I should consider other themes as well?
    Thank you for your time.

  67. Hi Aigars,

Here’s my story.. i am open to anything and every this you have to say, so please don’t hold back. And THANK YOU!

    New Age Minds

My new site is mainly a blog with an e commerce section. It is centered around engaging new age thought, involving spiritual growth, alternative health, quantum physics, and global consciousness and it’s evolution, mysteries, etc.. (These are just a handful of topics). All of the products I sell will be high quality and relate to the topics i write about. Also, a philanthropic feel to it, because a percentage of all sales will go to charity.
The site is going to be inspirational with quotes and beautiful photography. It is NOT going to have a scientific, serious vibe about it. It will be light, an easy read, sometimes fun, and witty, and half as serious as it sounds.

  68. Pam Jacobsen says:

Hello, I am in the stage of choosing a theme and designing my blog. What I think I want is: 2-part framework, share buttons, Adsense, mobile responsiveness. THis will be a personal encouraging, tidbits, blog. It needs to be SIMPLE!! I like colors, flowers, soft and pretty design.. Any input?? Thank you.

    1. Pam,

This is exactly what this list is for. You won’t go wrong by choosing any of above listed themes. My favorites are closer to top of the list and I really recommend to check them out.

  69. Hello, the collection is great!
I wonder if you could advise me on a theme for my personal blog? I look for something simple, light and modern for the blog about education and children development, enriched with our personal family experience. I like colours and vivid style, but don’t want it to be too casual or childlike.
Both content and photos are equally important. With opportunity to browse per category, per child age etc. Intuitive and user friendly (this is going to be my first blog ;).

I am a little bit lost with the themes.
So I would appreciate any hints on the choice!
    Thanks

  70. hi I am looking for a theme that looks a lot like pinterest only larger images and those would be the posts. please let me know if you know one. I need it to be able to take up advertisements too. the pin themes I have found so far do not support ads on the main page.

  71. i am using 2016 theme for myblog site at the moment and it gives me problem with the” internal server error” and really wish to change my theme to soledad or another one.will the problem continue if i change it and can i do it myself without the help of a developer?

    1. Idera,

You just need to install theme via your admin dashboard and then activate it. This process is well documented on Soledad and other theme documentation. There is absolutely no need for developer to be involved unless you have limited access to your WordPress dashboard. For example, developer didn’t provide administrator rights for you but it is very unlikely to be the case.

  72. I can’t decide which one is a good blog theme for a high-end luxurious/bespoke gemstone jewelry brand. I want it to be different than many of the normal ones you see heavily used in the market, but still give it an innovative, stylish, luxurious, unique look for the blog theme. I have decided the following as my options: Share, Armonioso, Piemont, Ink, or Omega.

What will be the most ideal and appealing per my requirements?

    Thanks,

    AA

    1. I would recommend Armonioso or Piemont. The main thing you should keep in mind is that theme’s layout accounts for a tiny thing and the main difference comes from your images, videos and other content. Make sure to pay close attention to you images because that’s what users will be looking at and not how good font you have chosen or is your layout width set to 800px or 1100px. Images is the key.

  73. Hi! I am using the activello theme currently on my website. I do love the simplicity of it. I also love the lay out of everything. I have a cooking + life style/mommy blog- so I was looking for something with a little more “umph” Mostly I want to be able to change the colors and font/font sizes. I am still playing around with this theme, and while I truly like it. I wish there was more that I was able to customize myself without having to mess with html. Any suggestions on a different theme or help with the current one that I am using. Thanks for your time in advance!

    1. Star,

Sorry for late response. I see that you have already chosen Foodrica theme by WPZOOM. It is a great theme and you won’t be disappointed.

  74. I am new to the blogging world and have no idea what would be a good theme to use that will be relevant for a while. I am currently using the default “Twenty Sixteen” but would like to spruce up the site. I am doing a motivational Blog. Do you have any suggestions on themes that would make the site more visually attractive and run smoothly?

    1. Alley,

This list is exactly for you are I have listed the best blogging themes available today. All of them are very recent therefore won’t get outdated anytime soon. My top picks from this list are The Voux, Kalium, and Foodica and they are going to make your website visually attractive and themes are also very flexible to be used to any niche.

  75. Hello. Maybe you could advise…I am looking for an elegant, clear and delicate theme for running a travel/ fashion blog. It needs to have e-commerce feature, social media icons, be responsive (as it will be mainly used on cell phones) and have the possibility to change fonts . The blogs that I like are : tuulavintage and garypeppergirl. Thank you 😉 I am looking forward to hearing from you 😉

    1. Mac,

Themes that I can recommend for your travel/fashion site are Soledad, Uncode, Kalium, Foodica and Armonioso. They are very similar to your mentioned examples.

      1. thank you 😉 and what do you think about Olsen, Unlimited, Hemlock, Florence or Redwood ? 😉

  76. Michael Zorko says:

Good article. The thing I am finding is that I get stuck in a comfort zone when it comes to certain themes. I find one with a good backend interface…many options..then I get in a rut. Yet I find myself spending 90 minutes a week searching for new ones 🙂 I need to get out more!

  77. Ruth Hazleton says:

Have just set up site using WP 4.9 / Bluehost. Looking for a blog theme that has maximum font / colour and formatting options, will support pics, has multiple gallery options, supports sound (very important) and video. Also want it to be advertisement-ready. Major problem I’m having is that I want to collect and collate opinions and stories from readers; their ideas and responses to numerous topics. Ideally 3 at once featured on a static home page. I don’t know if there’s an additional plug in I’d need to be able to do such a thing, or whether some of these themes listed have decent widgets I could use for this purpose? I have some experience using website back-ends but no coding knowledge. Thanks.

  78. Hi Aigars,

You have consolidated a great list for the bloggers. I’m a WordPress theme designer and launched two of my blog themes in the grand marketplace, ThemeForest. I’ll check the listed WordPress design to get some ideas and design a brand new theme for bloggers.

  79. Hey Aigars,

I used the Bridge layout you mentioned as well and its really great.
In fact it is so complex that you potentially could build any of the other blog themes out of this one 😉

When it comes to templates Swiftideas is another brand I trust because of a solid support and awesome backend.
    Regards,Phil

  80. Hi Aigers,

First of all, I’ll like to commend you on the comprehensiveness of the list. This is an amazing list with a lot of viable options to choose from.

I am looking to design an inspirational website/blog that is very responsive and has the necessary plugins for social media(youtube included if possible), contact form, signing up for Newsletter, with capability of adding further plugins(if the need arises), with options as to how to format the look of the pages

It’s going to include a lot from interview and travel articles and this will require a great deal of pictures and the upload of videos (or the viewing of youtube videos on specific pages on the website). Due to this i’d like something that is big on organization of all this while still maintaining(or at least trying to) a minimalistic feel.

Finally, I dont really understand how the pricing of themes work because I’m new to this, but I’ll prefer a theme where it’s a one time payment and you dont have add-on costs creeping up somewhere down the line.

The themes that I seem most drawn to are Olsen, The Camille, Brixton Lounge, Cheerup, The Voux, CrazyBlog, InFashion and Josephine. If you have any better recommendation that you thing might suit my need better I’ll really appreciate it.

    Thanks a lot!

  81. Hello Aigars,

Thank for posting these wonderful themes! They all look like they will make a blog look clean and professional. I am very interested in purchasing one of these themes for my own blog. Since I am new to blogging I would like to ask you for a recommendation on which theme would best suit my needs. My blog will be a blog geared toward maintaining close relationships. I need to be able to post content with all different types of media like audio and video. I also need to create favorite lists and post reviews on different products. I will also feature recipes on my blog. I would like to have a page dedicated on the blog where readers can send me a message. Lastly, I will also be using the blog to sale my own books or at least allow me to provide a link where people can purchase my book through Amazon. The blogs that I have leaned towards the most are Innovation, Caress, Colors, Rosemary & Personal. I really appreciate your feedback! Thanks!

  82. Emre Elbeyoglu says:

    Hello,

Thanks for all suggestions for a blogging themes. I used to crazylife blog theme for 2 years. It has pure user interface and usability but it has not compatible essential SEO plugins like yoast seo. Therefore i have changed my blog theme as Literatum Theme on envato, themeforest.net

Literatum is medium.com like website and the theme is made for readibility. I have seen it in a theme review. It has lots of features and also compatible most SEO plugins.

On colorlib, i want to see more deeply theme reviews for blogging themes.

    Thanks
    Emre

    1. Hello Emre,

      Thank you for your feedback!
Our detailed theme reviews can be found here. We have done reviews for many different themes including blog themes.
The one thing I want to point out is that all WordPress themes that are still maintained today are compatible with Yoast SEO. There aren’t any specific hacks that needs to be implemented to make it compatible. The only thing that needs to be done is to follow WordPress guidelines and coding standards and any SEO plugins will do the rest.

  83. Hello, iam interested by a theme like CrazyBlog Theme.
I would like to write about webdesign, html css technology and maybe about some inspiration like cinema, books, travels.
Is it a good choice? I have read that some people have difficulties to install it.
Do you know if it is possible to add in the futur a shop like Woocommerce with this kind of theme?

    Regards

    1. Etienne,

CrazyBlog theme does feature WooCommerce support. It is also good for any niche as theme is fairly customizable.

  84. Daniel Sentker says:

Hello, i have got a standard theme for my own blog. Am i able to switch the themes without configuration?

    1. Daniel,

Yes you will be able to switch theme easily as your blog doesn’t have any fancy functionality and just plain text. In those cases switching to another theme is very easy.

  85. Malcolm Turnbull says:

We brought few of your themes. those are really nice. load fast too. I always go for themes that load fast.
Good job guys. keep create amazing themes.

  86. Hi Aigars

what a nice collection of theme’s. I really like, Myblog and CheerUp.

Now i was wondering: i want to make a subdomain on my main website and make the blog on a fully new website. So when people click on “blog” they will be redirected to the blog subdomain. I want a theme that has the same “look and feel” as my website so that user won’t realise they are on a different website. So can you give some advice for a theme that is easy to work with, but also easily customized to make it look like my own website…

    thanks!

    1. Melissa,

CheerUp is much more customizable therefore it will work better in your case.

  87. Thanks for sharing these themes. I am in need of theme for my blog. I have checked out all these themes. All themes are great but I am also finding it costly. Anyways, I will definitely find out the best theme for my blog.

  88. Matt Daymon says:

Is it possible the Divi theme to be tweaked, so it will look a bit similar to the one they use for the landing page of customerso?

    1. Matt,

Divi is highly flexible WordPress theme and you can create literally any website using it thanks to its intuitive and easy to use drag&drop page builder.

  89. Aigars,

Thanks for this list. Wow.. I’m overwhelmed on which one to choose for my blog I will launch.

My goal for my blog is to chronicle my life as a Leather man…plus offer sections on Education, Health, etc.

I’d also like to add my youtube videos on the site so viewers can see it.

And id definitely would like it to have a multilingual plugin so people from around the world can view it?

The themes i’m looking at so far are: Jevelin, UnCode, X The Theme, Freyja, Colors and Soledad!

    Which themes would you suggest?

    1. Rodney,

In your case, I would recommend Jevelin or Uncode. To make your website multilingual you should go with a plugin called WPML. You can find more information about it here. It is a premium plugin but it is far more superior and much more easier to use than its free alternatives and their support is outstanding as well.

      1. Thanks for responding Algars.

        Cheers!

  90. Hi, Thanks for the excellent list! I am currently searching for a WP theme and am a bit lost in the jungle. I am trying to look for emails to be able to ask the webpage authors a few things before buying, but seems I cannot find any such support email. Do you know if these themes always have support forums only, where anyone can see which troubles you are encountering and by adding your web address in connection with problems, that is searchable, too..? Have you figured out some other way to ask questions privately?

    1. Nina,

Each theme developer has a different support system in place. Some has public support forums, some private ones, some does email support or combination of all. Support forum is one of the best solutions because you can search for solutions on your own and in most cases you won’t even need to ask a question as it might be already answered for you. Therefore, you would save a lot of time waiting for support team to respond on your request.
If you are unsure about what kind of support you will get, please let me know theme that you are looking to purchase and will let you know what options for support are available.

  91. Ahmed Deduice says:

    Great themes all round !

Do you have a compiled list of free blog themes? Something like that your 50+ Beautiful & Free Responsive WordPress Themes?

I would be happy if you do have one.

    1. Ahmed,

We don’t have a dedicated list of free blog themes but all WordPress themes listed on your mentioned post can be used as blog themes. WordPress was created as a blog platform first and then it was turned into a fully functional CMS but blog part of it remains intact even after all these years.

  92. I need help selecting a new theme for my blog/website…I would love something similar to ThePioneerWoman.com as I post a wide variety of content including recipes that I would like to organize by category, fundraising efforts through the Alzheimer’s Association, a gallery of quilts I have made, book reviews, samples/chapters from books that I am working on (and of course never sending to agents or publishers…), and personal thoughts and stories about our family. I have had the same theme since I began blogging several years ago, and I want to revamp, unveil a new look, and start blogging much more consistently. Although I have been posting for a while now, I still feel like a newbie in terms of jargon, tricks, tools, and the “things” that make blogging successful. Thanks so much for your help 🙂

    1. Hello Ashli,

You are currently using WordPress.com which means that you are limited to a very few WordPress themes that are available on their service. Themes listed above are made for self-hosted WordPress. Here you can see the difference between these two tools. If you are looking to switch away from WordPress.com, please let me know and will find some themes for you.

      1. Thank you for your reply 🙂 I am certainly willing to make the switch to .org and self-hosting, but I am not sure how to go about self-hosting. I purchase my domain name (ashlimontgomery.com) from DirectNic which might have a hosting option. And that’s about the extent of my knowledge or understanding of self-hosting. Where do I go to begin that process? If I get that figured out, which themes would you recommend for me? I really would like to take my blogging a step up, and I know that a really professional look that puts the content into a more user-friendly format is important to achieve that goal.

  93. Kenneth Doghudje says:

    Hi Aigars,

Thank you for this useful post. It has indeed been very helpful.

I manage a Personal Finance website and am thinking of starting a blog. These are my 3 favourite theme:

    1. Random
    2. The Fox
    3. Webly

I wanted to know whether Random could be used for a personal finance blog as the information I have gathered in my personal research points out that it is best for creatives and photobloggers. Many thanks in advance.

    Kenneth

    1. Kenneth,

There is not a big difference for what you use a blog theme. The thing is that once you add your own images and articles your blog will look completely different from what you see on the demo. I would also recommend adding Gillion on your shortlist.

  94. Lola Jaan says:

    Hey Aigars,
I’m creating my WordPress website now. Before I get to this stage, I want to know if these themes are available on the “Personal Plan”
    Unicode
    Writing
    Gillion
    Introfolk
    Arminioso

    1. Lola,

Prices you see for themes are the same for private and commercial customers. Only exception is with extended license but almost no one needs that and I am sure you don’t need it too.

  95. LOVE THESE!!! I am trying to launch my wedding blog, but haven’t found a user-friendly theme I love enough to settle on. Do you know of any or if any of the themes you’ve mentioned in this article offer something similar to that of avada’s fusion builder? I love their drag and drop features and the ease of use is great, I just don’t love their initial layouts. Thanks!

    1. Ellie,

Gillion is the theme that you are looking for. It comes with Visual Composer which is by far the most popular and easy to use page builder which is way more popular than the one you can find on Avada.

  96. HI Aigars,
great website and wonderful career story of yours :). I am looking for different themes but cannot decide:
    1) Website to showcase pictures and potentially using them as entry to become a professional photographer (Themes maybe: Soledad?, Breviter Pro, Morning time, Amory, Introfolk)
    2) Website to share experiences around people development, time management, etc (Jevelin?, Writing?, Shasta, Josephine)
    3) Website with my own name focus on a summary of what I do, an about.me like website. (Anemos, Ragnar,
    4) Website about traveling connecting to instagram (Themes maybe: Gillion, Kalium)
    5) Website on food connecting to my instagram food blog (Shasta, Gillion, Foodica)

I appreciate if you have time to suggest something. The suggestions on your website are great but overwhelming.
Or maybe I should not have one blog per topic but put everything under one.

    Thank you!

    1. Stefanie,

It really all comes down to your personal preference. Personally, I would choose Gillion theme for most of the tasks. It is now actively being developed and new demos are added on regular bases. Even without that, the design is just outstanding and Visual Composer makes it a very customizable WordPress blog theme and not just that.

  97. Brian Mackey says:

Do you have a list of completely free or open source themes (without any crippling or paid features)?

  98. I would like to start a blog about beauty and lifestyle but have no idea what template to use and how you can customise them. I would like to have a slider on the home page, the recent posts as pictures underneath and a big logo at the top. Which do you think is the best and how easy are they to customise them?

  99. Hi Aigars. This List is awesome.. It Covers almost all Categories like Corporate, Personal, Fashion, Travel, Photo blogging And many more. Beautiful article thanx for sharing.

  100. Hi Sir,

    Hope you’re well.
I am a blogger, and i am looking for a new blog theme for my blog.

I write about lifestyle, foods, travel & techs.

Please advise if you can share & recommend the best blog with good plugin 🙂 Prefer clean blog template.

Looking forward to hear from you.

    1. Hey,

Gillion is certainly the theme you are looking for. It works well for any niche blog and magazine site. You can find more info about it here.

  101. Hi Aigars

Thank you for this post, I’ve found it most helpful.

Please could you help with some advise for choosing a theme for a new lifestyle blog based around food, health and entrepreneurship.. I want fast loading, good integration on all devices, bright and varied (not too minimal as there are various topics) and ideally tech support because I am an absolute beginner

    Please help!

    Thank you.

I am starting a blog and my theme is God’s Design. I am looking for something that is easy to use, easy to read and is formatted for all media formats (phone, iPad, laptop, computer. etc). I like Tulip and Shasta. It is so many choices.

It’s a lifestyle choice blog based on life’s perspectives and life’s choices.

    Suggestions?

    1. Tulip and Shasta are both great options. I would also add Gillion on your shortlist. Whichever you choose you will be able to create a beautiful blog.

    Hi Aigars,

Awesome collection of beautiful blog themes. I was using Gillion for my blog on my personal finance blog. And now when I start a new blog on digital and technological world, what will be your suggestion?

    1. Gillion will work just as fine for technology site since it has loads of different demo variations as well as page builder included.

  104. Just got to love WordPress because it’s not only a free semantic blog publishing platform, but it’s also customizable to the point of working on your blog from your smartphone, home computer, and using your WordPress blog to build a million-dollar blogging side hustle.

  105. Wow! I used a lot of these themes earlier. They’re really very cool. Now I use new one, which I really adore Gillion. It has a huge variety of advantages. Hope it’ll be the best wordpress theme next year.

  106. Thanks for sharing the themes actually i am very much passionate about writing blogs with different contents and themes. I am very interested in purchasing one of these themes for my own blog. I am looking to design an inspirational website/blog that is very responsive and has the necessary plugins for social media. I have already tried a blog called Jevelin and interested to do in different themes. let any one suggest a theme for a blog

  107. The intro states: Though there are WordPress themes that you can use for free, don’t rule out the premium themes.

But you really should make it very clear that the article is about premium themes ONLY. It would have saved me a lot of time and disappointment.

    1. Michael,

All articles that features FREE themes clearly states that in the title. We even have a separate category on the website for free themes. Free blog themes in particular can be found here.

    Hi There

You have consolidated a great list for the bloggers. I’m a WordPress theme designer and launched 100+ of my blog, news, magazine, company, educational institute themes in the local market place marketplace I’ll check the listed WordPress design to get some ideas and design a brand new theme for bloggers.

    Thanks Aigars,

  109. I have never used Onetone, so I couldn’t offer a comparison.

Divi though is a base theme that has a page builder, that while quite powerful, can be quite bloated (and once you start using it, you can’t walk away from it do to all the codes it puts in the page content.

  110. I used a lot of these themes earlier. They’re really very cool. Now I use new one, which I really adore Gillion. It has a huge variety of advantages. Hope it’ll be the best wordpress theme next year.

  111. This is great, the themes you have covered above are really some of the most popular themes for WordPress, available in the themes marketplace. Nice to see them here!

  112. Hey Aigars,
First of all, I’d like to say big thanks to you for apprised me a bunch of WordPress Themes. All your collections are great especially TheBlogger and Magplus Themes are my favorite. Because these two are generating a professional look for a website. Now I have the interest to create a website myself, so guide me on how to choose a good and neat theme for my site?

    1. Since all blog themes are very similar when it comes to functionality I would recommend to choose the one that you like from a design perspective. TheBlogger and MagPlus both are great themes and you won’t go wrong by choosing either of them. For a detailed guide on how to make a WordPress website you should check this tutorial.

I love this list as I do with all the others I’ve read but while reading a question was raised. Would it suffice to use any theme then remove the services and service related page and make the blog/posts page and then it serves as a blog? I know there’s a difference between a blog and a website but it still kinda makes it possible to use a website theme for a blog. Am I overthinking this?

    1. Mark, you can use any WordPress theme just for blogging. Even if demo shows several hundred different pages. All those pages are just to showcase what theme is capable of and you can use only 1% of that. Also, you won’t need to delete anything because themes are like blank canvas without content and you can fill it in or use demo content which in your case won’t be necessary.

  114. Thank you for sharing all those awesome themes with us. Even though they are paid, it’s worth the bucks that you spent in buying these themes. I hope to see other great themes in the year to come by. Thank you so much for the effort and suggestions!

  115. My needs

A personal blog to share life experience and share my hobbies
Ease of navigation and sleek look, I like bold fonts and a bit of color
Mainly text-based but also flexible enough to allow my personality shine through
I dont like grid blog appearance
Just one full page of the current blog and a left sidebar with chronological listing of past post
Have the option to place Google ads in post
Call to action, comment and subscription form
A secure check to avoid spam or robotic input
    I don’t like floating banner

  116. This is not article about free blog themes. Free WordPress themes can be found here.

  117. Hello, I’m in marketing and looking to start writing on my own. I’m between The Fox, Uncode, TheGem, and Writing as options. SEO optimization is key for me and those seem to be the ones that would feature written content well and be somewhat searchable. I’d love your advice and thank you for the article!

    Kathryn

  118. Aigars – these are some of the most amazing themes you have shared for WordPress, all in one place and that is what makes it so outstanding – thanks!

  119. Hi – great article.

I’m curious if any of these templates have the capability to organize/catalogue blogs that include a rating (given by the author).

I am starting a restaurant blog, and one of the key UX items I have is the ability for the reader to see the restaurants ranked from best to worst, sorted by location, etc.

    Thanks!

  120. Hi there – great blog. I had a question that I don’t think your article covers (but maybe I’m wrong):

The nature of my blog is restaurant reviews. I’m looking for a template that will help catalogue my blog posts by type and make it easier for viewers to quickly filter/find reviews by type of restaurant, location, etc.

    Any help appreciated.

    Jesse

  121. What a wonderful resource, thanks so much for sharing. I am starting my first blog and am looking for a theme that is both whimsical and bold. I’d like fun fonts and a layout that’s not too rigid with a bold color palette. I will be telling stories and making a lot of product recommendations. I will also be sharing posts from other bloggers and uploading content from various sources. Something that’s easy to add links and shoutouts and is very e-commerce friendly. A few that caught my eye are Flow, Pofo, Norebro, Crazyblog, H-code, Gridlove and Heap
Would love to hear your suggestions.

    1. Kitty,

All themes are highly customizable and such things as fonts, color schemes, font color, and everything can be changed via settings. No need to look for the right colors in the demo because you can always change them easily even when your website is already up and running.

  122. Hi there. I’m interested in the Typology minimalist website design. Is it integratable with the latest WordPress?

    1. Hello Jamie,

Yes, it works with the latest version of WordPress since it is well maintained by the developer.
